The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and very inviting. My room and its linens were very clean. Shower was excellent - hot water and plenty of pressure, but towels were a bit thin. AC worked very well. Our group ate in the restaurant three nights. Every night I ordered something different, and every night I was served something that did not match the description on the menu - chili rellenos and soup missing ingredients, a tough filet mignon,
A very nice hotel in the Rveforma area of the beautiful city of Oaxaca. There is a very nice restaurant and the grounds are beautiful. The staff at this hotel are exceptionally helpful. We will stay there again on any returns to Oaxaca City.
We returned to Mission de Los Angeles after our visit 3 years ago and found it to be one of the most accommodating and best values in Oaxaca. The have obviously been maintaining and updating the rooms and grounds We very much enjoy the breakfasts in the restaurant and you must try a drink at the pool bar, Claudio is fun and accompanied bartender. All of the staff were very professional and handled my lack of Spanish, with amusement, but respectful Looking forward to returning next year
My family stayed at Mision de Los Angeles for 10 nights during our February break. The restaurant and food were great. The grounds were good with a nice variety of flowering bushes and trees. The location is convenient to walking to the park and the great restaurants and shopping areas. The rooms were very nice and mattresses comfortable. The hotel staff arranged low-cost ($300 pesos/person) great tours for us via Turismo SanTours to Monte Alban and Tule/Teotitlan/Mitla/Huerve el Agua. We stayed in 308 and 302. We chose the hotel because we wanted to swim. Compared to the heated pool at the Quinta Real, the swimming lanes are five steps longer (23 steps total). We thought they'd be longer, but the pool is U shaped and the connecting section of the "U" is 2 feet deep. The water temperature was slightly cold, but fine for swimming on a warm day. The hotel staff needs to do a better job of cleaning out the dead bees in the pool and other debris during the day. Hourly skimming would help considerably. There doesn't seem to be anyone assigned to doing this. We did have issues with the air conditioning not working well late at night and being a bit loud. There was a decent amount of outside noise. The hotel could do a better job of noise control on its grounds. In all, seems to be one of the top hotel options in Oaxaca. Not perfect, but made for an enjoyable stay at a very reasonable price.
The best thing about this hotel is breakfast. The food is excellent. It's traditional, always plentiful and hot. The servers are pleasant but could be more responsive to requests. The grounds are lovely and very well kept. They include tennis courts, a large pool, and many gardens and pathways. Unfortunately, due to earthquakes, many pathways are in need of repair. At night these are not well lit, so carrying a cell phone or flashlight would be very helpful. Our room was spacious and clean, but the mattresses were too firm for our liking.
This is clearly Oaxaca City's top five-star hotel/resort. Superb staff, beautiful grounds, wonderful restaurant, pool, comfortable, quiet rooms, it has it all. I was fortunate to secure lodging during one of Mexico's most high profile events, the XXII BMW International Motorcycle Convention. Great for friends, families, business seminars and easily accommodated approximately 600 guests in the ballroom. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property when in Oaxaca.
Great service, spacious rooms, fast wifi, delicious break buffet. They also have 3 tennis courts and a beautiful pool with a cool palapa bar in the middle. The best of all is their Stunning gardens, great for meditation, yoga or a regular workout routine. They have coffee and good amenities in the room. Their bellboy Mr. Pasos was very very helpful, friendly and kind.
We stayed for one week as part of a group of 15 and had reserved rooms by the swimming pool. I was somewhat concerned after reading the on-line reviews but we had an excellent experience. The room was fine and everything worked. The beds were too hard would be the only issue. Good AC. The pool was nice to swim in. Not noisy at night. Laundry was very well done and reasonably priced. Gave it to them in the morning and it was back the same evening. They organized early breakfast at 5.30 am each day and this worked very well and they even cooked eggs to order promptly. Very efficient. Ate lunch one day which was a buffet of assorted corn soups with mix-ins and guacamole and both meats, cheeses and other salads to add. All very good. The room was very clean and nicely serviced each day. Staff were helpful and friendly. Can walk into town in about 15 minutes or get a cab
I was pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of the room...also, the grounds in this self-contained resort are nicely maintained. Everything is spic-and-span. It was super-quiet, and the bed was excellent. The POOL is killer! It's a big, sprawling thing with plenty of shallow water for kiddies and lounging adults. Lots of space and chaise lounges. Finally, I thought it was a pretty cool jumping off point for neighborhood ramblings. There are several good restaurants and groceries just around the corner. You can walk right into the Centro, or take a walk up the hill and get lost in all the pretty alleyways with dangling flowers everywhere.
The place itself has some vintage appealing. Running water, a bathroom, a place to leave your stuff, a bed (a hard one), nothing else. If you go to the restaurant I strongly recommend you not to hold your breath while you wait for someone to take the order.
