Ok for one night staying from Huatulco to cut our drive in half. Mini ants in our room that managed to follow us in our bags... I would suggest to go somewhere else in a free ants hotel and less busy street.
This hotel is located 2 minutes from the Zocalo, where Everything happens. Amenities are limited. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Cleanliness was very poor. Linens and towels should be replaced as they are old and dingy. Great WiFi and free parking about 2 minutes away. You need to take your car to a parking garage and show them a pass provided by the hotel. No problems there. Would recommend it for the location!
Great location, the zocalo is just 5 min away, the market around the corner. A great supermarket across the street with everything one might need. Rooms are very basic but spacious. Our bathroom sink was clogged which made even teeth brushing impossible.
Upon arrival the receptionist announced that the room we reserved wasn't available and that she sent us an email. We had been travelling with no WiFi for 11 hours but when we finally checked email wasn't there. She then changed her story and said she emailed booking.com through which we reserved the room. They offered no compensation, acceptable alternative or apology.
This place is very cute and has a nice courtyard. Our room was extremely hot and the showers were cold...so they balanced themselves out. Nice staff and willing to help. A great location in the middle of great markets, amazing food vendors and a really short walk to the zocalo
It's not a fancy hotel it's simple and to the point it is clean and comfortable .full of Mexican charm and hospitality. The beds are a little hard our first night there we didn't like the bed and asked if we could change rooms and the clerk took to a couple of different rooms and let us choose the one we wanted it made our stay so much better and the linen and blankets were the best I wished I could have brought the blanket home. The location was perfect for us just a 5 minute walk to zocalo square the market is only 1 block away and they have the best food and produce you can find anywhere. The staff at the hotel were just wonderful and very helpful with tours and answering a lot of questions from us about the local culture . We had just a wonderful time and hotel aurora helped us enjoy our stay in Oaxaca .
We have stayed at Aurora for several years, and could not be happier with its excellent location near the zócalo and markets, it's cleanliness, and reasonable price. This year it's got a new elevator, fresh paint, and efficient front desk. HOWEVER: we were shocked to find a note by the bed, informing us that if anything was missing from the room, the housemaid would have her salary docked for the missing item. (I believe this is illegal, but for the poor woman, she may not have recourse to legal help.) When we checked out, we were made to wait at reception while the room was inventoried! This is certainly not the friendly, warm service that Oaxaca is famous for. Housekeepers make next to nothing here, and all we have met have been scrupulously honest. Hotel Aurora should do better by its hard workers.
I am a frequent business traveler to Oaxaca Mexico. I've stayed in many of the hotels there but the Aurora was one of my favorites. The hotel is located in the very center of the town, just a few blocks from the main plaza. For American travelers with little experience traveling in Mexico the hotel will at first glance look different than what you are use to. Do not expect the lavish Hilton experience. But to enter into true Mexico and its old world charms this is a great destination. Full of local history and charm. I would highly recommend the Hotel Aurora for either tourist or business travelers.
At my arrival to Oaxaca, I didn't have a reservation to any hotel. My opcion was to stay at a hotel I'd stayed at before but they had no space. To make my story short this hotel was recommend by a taxi driver and honestly I couldn't be happier. The hotel receptionist was welcoming and the room was good. Had the basic which was tv,bed, restroom, fan and overall it was very clean. The hotel is well located, just two blocks from el Zocalo. On the other hand I didn't like that they had no a/c or an iron. I stayed here two nights and would definitely stay here again.
- 600 pesos per night - No hair dryer for rent The reason why we are giving the hotel a low rating because they had construction works going during the day and they did not even tell us about it. The drilling started 7am in the morning and ended 6pm. They did not give us any discount of even asked if we wanted to swap room. Terribly disappointed. We had no chance of having a good rest during the day and if only they could tell us what happened, we would have asked to swap room. - We took a taxi from ADO bus station to the hotel and it cost us about 40 pesos. - A supermarket across and also beside the street - Guy at the reception spoke very little English. Payment of the room charge will be charged as soon as you arrive. - Cleaning lady came and cleaned the room daily. And you can ask for free refill of mineral water. - It does get very noisy at night esp on the weekends due to the festival celebration near the centro. - Room is tiled floor, no carpet so you can hear people talking while they come up from the stairs. - No lifts, you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs - Location was unbeatable but of course a little far away from Second-class bus terminal - Sleeping quality was ok, sheets were cleaned and there is a fan so it was great for hot summer nights. - Beds are not too lumpy - There is also a BBC entertainment channel on TV which makes it easier for tourists who want to watch English-speaking channel. - They also expect us to drop the hotel key to them whenever we go out. And when we came back to the hotel, they gave us the wrong keys. Go figure how good would the security be in this hotel!
