So much to love about this place. Very centrally located, close to the centre of town and great restaurants. Enormously helpful staff who assisted in organising transport and spoiled us with small gifts. Loved the pride they took in showcasing local art.
Great little hotel, in the heart of Oaxaca but set back from the road in a quiet peaceful courtyard. Everywhere is very clean and the rooms are tastefully furnished. The staff are so friendly and eager to help with whatever you need. We had to move rooms due to some Americans above us making too much noise, and we were moved in an instant. It’s very close by to some very good restaurants, markets and all the main sights. The WiFi signal is a bit poor in some rooms but that’s only a minor issue.
The location is perfect, the ambience pure old Oaxaca and the staff attentive. The rooms have nice touches like the white noise machine, but lack a few details like curtains. Luckily the AC works, because natural ventilation is not an option. Either the window is wide open to people strolling by in the corridor or blacked out with wooden shutters, the bathroom window is sealed. Sloppy lack of finish at the junction of wall and floor... small things that would be simple to fix, surprising in an otherwise boutique environment. Our first morning the coffee was what my Oaxacan husband calls "sock water", but the other three mornings coffee was good, so I guess it depends who is making the brew. Super pleasant garden courtyard for coffee and breakfast. Coffee and pan dulce included, breakfast extra. Clean, well decorated, accommodating staff, great location... much to recommend NaNa Vida, and yes, the lovely welcome and farewell treats of handmade soaps, huipiles for the ladies and GOOD coffee for the guys... thanks NaNa Vida! ENJOY beautiful Oaxaca! We go every year and see things really looking good. !QUE VIVA OAXACA!
This place was pure magic!! I came from NYC and this has to be the best service and environment I have ever been to and we travel a LOT! Front desk service was exceptional, specially Francisco who's kindness made me cry upon leaving. The history behind this hotel and the merchandise they offer to help a community that lost everything in 2017 due to an earthquake is an example of what a business should be like. The location is perfect! Can't wait to go back as I will never forget our short stay here.
Loved our stay at Nana! They had AC and all the staff was so helpful throughout our week-long stay there. There is a dry cleaner directly across the street and for 90 peso we had a large load of clean clothes the next day, delivered directly to our room. We booked a tour through the hotel and was perfect! Will definitely be staying here again in the future.
Although we have travelled extensively in Europe, South America and Africa, this was our first time in Mexico. The NaNa Vida provided a wonderfully warm welcome and an extremely comfortable and convenient base to explore Oaxaca with our tween-age daughter. We had only planned to stay for 2 nights (and only booked for those 2) but ended up staying for 4, which required 2 room changes. The staff made these changes so easy by moving our bags when we were out. We can attest that all our rooms were spacious, sparkling clean and well equipped. The A/C was a highly appreciated respite from the very hot and humid weather and we enjoyed the soothing sounds from the white noise machine although it wasn’t needed as there was no outside noise at all. We had a delicious breakfast on Saturday in the verdant courtyard under heavily-laden fruit trees and enjoyed chatting with the helpful and friendly staff. We are especially grateful for the assistance we received when our plans changed last minute such that we couldn’t come back to the hotel to retrieve a bag we’d left. The hotel arranged for it to be brought by taxi to the airport. Since we had planned to come back, we didn’t get the parting gifts that others mentioned so we look forward even more to our return visit to Oaxaca and NaNa Vida. :). A million thanks to Francisco and colleagues for the help and hospitality!
The hotel is 13 minutes to the airport when there is no traffic. It is located in the center of town, so it is very convenient to tourist sites, markets, museums, and restaurants. From hotel to the airport is 250 pesos. The receptionists are very nice and friendly. When we check in, each of us is given an artisanal soap (coffee, pomegranate, etc.), and when we check out, we are given a pouch of ground coffee and a pestle-looking pen for men and Mexican poncho-like clothing for women. These are such pleasant surprises. No wonder Nana Vida is ranked number 1. The rooms surround a beautiful courtyard with fruiting trees. It has tables and chairs. The room has a safe, which is a nice feature. Two complimentary bottles of water are provided daily, but you can ask for more. Overall, Nina Vida Hotel is highly recommended for its location and service.
My family and I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and the location was a few steps away from everything! Rooms were very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make our stay extra special. I highly recommend Nana Vida while visiting Oaxaca.
My husband, 14 year old son and I visited for 3 nights in July and the stay was fantastic! Francisco and the rest of the staff were so helpful and accommodating. He recommended a few local restaurants known for their mole and tlayudas. They were great! The room was bright and airy and I loved the local artisan touches. The welcome gift of handmade soaps was a nice touch as were the sweet departing gifts. The hotel is on a quiet street close to the center and quite a few small local restaurants. We will definitely return to Oaxaca and NaNa Vida!
Only good words we can say about NaNa Vida hotel and crew. They took care of us from the moment we arrive till the moment we left. So kind and helpful. We felt like at home!! Breakfast was great as well
