The room we had was very cold as the window's night vent covers had come off and despite trying to cover them in tape the -5° outside was felt! The heating also appeared to not be working and had been replaced with a small plug in oil heater. Really not ideal with a toddler in the room!

Unfortunately the room we were initially placed in was not suitable — we were located above the function suite where Christmas parties were being held. We had been warned of slower food service, but not about noise. To locate non-party guests above this space seemed a poor choice. The room itself was mostly OK, although the bed was terrible (soft/saggy and moved around). We asked to be moved on the second night as the noise was significantly worse — this was done & a goodwill gesture also provided to us. The staff were very helpful with this. Lots of parking available.

Had to change room from 3 to 27 because the window wouldn’t close properly meaning you could hear the road noise. Both rooms were tired looking and need updating. Bathrooms had been modernised and good shower pressure. Light from the car park lit up the room despite “blackout” blinds. Noisy electric heater in the room. Staff were kind and helpful.

We always stay here now when visiting friends and family in the East Midlands. We have tried other hotels in the area from Bedford up to Leicester but this is ideal for location, food, service and a lovely reservoir to walk our Saluki! Parking is safe and ample, breakfasts are amazing, staff are helpful, welcoming and polite. Rooms are tidy, comfortable and spacious . The location is 5 mins off M1 but soooo quiet, 1 minute off A45 or A428 means every direction is accessible.
