Updated midmod look with a 60's--70's vibe. More Mod Squad than Brady Bunch. Era appropriate music playing outside, but not too loud. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Clean bathroom. Mini fridge in the room. No elevator, but we were able to get our room switched to 1st floor and parked right outside the room.

The Starlight Motor Inn overall was a great stay. The check in experience was great. Did everything digital and was able to park after the drive in and go straight to the room. The room was nice, clean and inviting. Large walk in shower and great towels and soaps provided. Room was very updated and the vibe of the hotel was carried into the room. The pool, pool bar and lobby area made me feel like I was in Palm Springs with carring the Mid-Century Modern feel throughout the property. The grounds was very clean an offered lots of parking. Yes the surrounding area is not the greatest location and amenities. So you will have to uber or drive to do activities and as this is in North Charleston not close to the downtown district but was 10 minutes from the convention center which was the main reason of our stay. Would stay here again.

What a great place!

This little hotel is a well-kept secret. Only 5 mi out of the historic district of Charleston, it was the best hotel I've stayed in so far on my trip from Florida to New York. The beds were comfortable, it had great pillows, the shower was roomy with great water pressure and nice shampoo conditioner and body wash. Everything was impeccably clean and keyless check in was super easy. This little place is a gem and is someplace you should definitely consider staying..

Very cute hotel! Only downside was that there was hair around the toilet and in the shower like they weren’t washed prior to our arrival. Also black mold was on the indoor AC vent.

Beware of Neighborhood!

This hotel is in a very unpleasant area. There are dozens of homeless lining the street where the hotel is located. It feels very unsafe and uncomfortable. Check in is remote. There is no one on duty at any time in the lobby, which adds to the unsafe feeling. Had I known this ahead of time it would have been a red flag. Some of the furniture in the room was cheap and chipped and the rug was filthy. The front door was also dirty and the lock was installed at an angle instead of straight adding to the overall look of disrepair. I booked this room based on the 9.4 review rating and a video a young couple placed on you tube, but it was a huge mistake. I emailed the hotel the first evening expressing my concerns and wish to move and be refunded, but they refused to refund me. I left the next day and booked The Charleston Place in the historic district thus paying for both rooms. Before I checked out I asked for a refund again citing the disrepair and they refused again. To add to the ambiance, two men were blasting music from a house beside the hotel so loudly that I thought it was from the hotel’s lounge. This is what I would expect of a 50 dollar a night hotel not 160 a night with taxes and fees.

Great concept, but lacking in location and execution. Had great reviews, which I fear may be driven by influencers or comp'd stays, as there was a group of young girls at the pool doing "content shoots" that I saw while I was there. The location is the biggest drawback for me- to each their own, but I was a little concerned staying alone as a young female. The rooms are great- spacious and clean, however, the full glass windows right near the parking area were concerning. You can also hear neighbors upstairs, but the weirdest part was their footsteps would vibrate the bed which was on a strange metal type platform. Would have loved to have explored the pool area and common spaces, but they were right on the main road which was a little uncomfortable based on the location.
