A lovely hotel in a central position. Do ask for a room overlooking the back. Ours was first floor in the front and the Friday night noise kept us awake until 2.30. We like fresh air and admit it was quieter with the window shut! Sweet garden and the back. Friendly staff. The bedroom was very small but clean.
We stayed at La Fontaine for four nights in late March. The location is perfect, near the Promenade, near the central park area and a nice walk to the old city. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within easy reach. The hotel is compact. The room was small, as expected, but spotlessly clean, bright decor and comfortable beds. It might get noisy overlooking the street but we did not find it so. There was almost no noise despite having a room next to the lift. My only negative point might be the lack of hooks or rails in the shower room. The towel holder was hopeless for drying or hanging towels on, so they were changed every day which is not really necessary if they can be aired and reused! The staff were all delightful, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast room was cosy but there is the outside patio area too tho that tended to be frequented by the smokers. The breakfast was adequate with plenty to choose from. I would definitely stay at La Fontaine again. A proper little gem!
I’ll start by saying that I realise that this review is an outlier. The hotel is clean and well maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful and we could so easily have scored it higher. The room was very small although we spent most of our time out it was quite awkward. Our main complaint was that the room we were in (11) was particularly noisy. it is at the top of the first flight of stairs and we could hear other guests coming in. On top of that there was a lot of noise from the street outside. We were woken on two nights of a 4 night stay by fighting or arguments in the street during the small hours. The noise of the bin collections and the cafe next door putting out its furniture at 6am were also unwelcome. One evening we came back to relax before going out for a meal and the hotel had been painted during the day so we had to put up with two hours of drilling just under our window as they fitted a new sign. To be fair they did apologise for this. As a final annoyance the sliding bathroom door would not stay shut. It could only be latched from inside the bathroom and there were no curtains on the bathroom window. This made it difficult to shut out the strong light from the street.
Great location, friendly staff, clean with everything you need. A short walk from the promenade and all other amenities. The rooms were small but perfectly adequate for a weekend break. Always someone on the front desk to help out too.
We had a lovely weekend stay here. The hotel has been recently refurbished and is in a great location. The staff were superb and they all spoke English. The rooms are a standard city hotel size but they’re clean and well maintained. The breakfast is a standard continental style with little choice but they are restricted by the size of the breakfast room. I loved this hotel and would stay here again if we come back to Nice.
Little Hotel, a bit like a boutique style, fresh refurbished with nice rooms, good shower. Rooms to the back are more quiet, but a bit more expensive. Good breakfast and a small Patio (in good weather open) for breakfast. 24h frontdesk. Good service, specially Nadia. Second line, but only 2 min. to the beach/promenade, 200m to pedestrian area, 100m to tourist office, 50m to Massena Museum. Because it is close to the old center, parking isn't easy, mainly in Parking house (high limit often 2,2m). We stayed there in Feb. 2018, price was excellent. We would stay again.
This hotel was ideal for myself and partner, the room was small but very clean. The shower, bath and toilet were all in perfect working order and spotlessly cleaned every day. The reception staff were all very helpful and spoke English. It was a short walk to the sea and also close to bars & restaurants. An excellent hotel.
Booked a few days in advance direct with the hotel. Good communication. The hotel is small, rooms at the back overlooking courtyard are quieter. Breakfast was typical continental but enough choice for us. Our room was quite small but adequate. We found it well situated for 98 bus to airport, Promenade Des Anglais, shopping and restaurants. We walked a lot: to old town, harbour, castle hill, to catch a bus to Eze across town. Nice is a great place for a weekend as only 20 mins to the airport and this hotel was reasonably priced and friendly.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Bedroom small but quite adequate. One small problem was shower room had very badly fitting door thus water continually leaked out into bathroom. Breakfast room also very small, fine at our visit but don't know how they manage in busy periods. Reception staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very good value . The location is excellent
Enjoyed our stay of three nights. Booked online, so we were able to get a ground floor room, off the back patio near the fountain. Extremely helpful staff, directed us to great restaurants, even a salon where I got a haircut! The breakfast array, paid for separately, was money well spent, fortified us for our days of walking down to Old Nice and other neighborhoods. Rue de France is only a block from the beaches, so we took advantage of that most afternoons, just sitting by the Med, enjoying the views, breezes, people and the thoughts of dinner.
