We had a very nice stay. The hotel is central. There was a very nice family restaurant serving as example coq au vin just around the corner and 5 minute walk to beach and the Lafayette (central city shopping). I and my friends stayed 4 nights, including NewYear celebration. In total 8 people, divided in 4 couples and 4 double rooms. l over I recommend this hotel as it was nice and god value for money.
The hotel offers comfortable accommodation at reasonable rates. It is quietly situated but very convenient - close to the tramway and main shopping area and within ten minutes walk of the town centre, vielle ville and Promenade des Anglais. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
This hotel was recommended by friends and we reserved a room for three nights based on their suggestion. Our experience was decidedly unacceptable. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very disinterested receptionist who refused assistance with our heavy luggage forcing us to double park on a busy street. She had no interest in suggesting alternative or overnight parking. The room she gave us was dark and minuscule and completely unacceptable. When we asked for another room, she said the hotel was full and curtly refused to provide another room. It was off season, and surely there were other rooms available. We decided that we could not stay at La Villa and advised the receptionist that we were leaving. Our one-night deposit, she assured, would be cancelled. When we asked her name so we would know who advised us, she refused to provide it. Unfortunately, the deposit was billed to our Amex card and the Hotel management has refused to refund it. We paid a price for a non-stay and terrible service.
Booked hotel online because it looked good, was reasonably priced and well located. The hotel is in a great location which feels safe and quiet. 10 mins walk from the main railway station, 5 mins to the main shopping area and 10 mins to the promenade. The hotel staff were delightfully polite and friendly when I arrived to check in and when I checked out the following morning. This is a small hotel which has the feeling of family operation. Although it is in an old building the interior is modern - spotlessly clean, light colours and everything works as it should. My room (No 21) had a rather odd and high table which was no use for working at. This was not a problem because I did not need to work in the room on this trip.
La Villa hotel has a comfortable hodge-podge decor lobby with a small bar and a small patio that extends the entry. Our second floor room was a good size with a comfortable king bed, good lighting, small balconies overlooking the boulevard, ample storage for clothes/bags, a fridge and water kettle with tea and instant coffee (only offered for the first day -bring or buy your own for subsequent days.) The spacious bathroom is nicely updated with a large walk in shower. There is a lift and a pretty marble staircase spiraling around it. Breakfast available, but we prefer to eat exquisite quiche at a nearby Boulangerie :) Convenient location to main train station, waterfront and vielle Nice. Blvd. Victor Hugo is currently undergoing major construction for expansion of the metro so the street is torn up and there may be excessive noise at times during the week but on the weekend we had no issues.
We stayed here for 4 nights in September during our trip to Nice. We arrived quite late in the day but we were greater by friendly and helpful staff. The room itself was clean, not the largest but we expect that from hotels in Europe. We also had a balcony overlooking the road, we were high enough not to hear any noise coming from the road and the construction work going on for the tramway. It was nice every morning and evening to open the door to the balcony, stand there and just look at the view. The bathroom was small but adequate. Absolutely loved the shower, but there didn't seem to be enough of a fall on the shower tray as it did start overflowing into the bathroom. There was tea and coffee making facilities, but not sure about why there were paper cups. Breakfast was nice, a good selection of pastries and cakes. However we weren't too comfortable eating in the basement.
What a cute hotel! we arrived late, and the front desk receptionist was so nice and helpful, The room was a nice size. the window opened up to a small balcony, The elevator was quite small, really only room for one suitcase and person, but it was an old time elevator that after the doors opened, you had to open another door. Movie like! The breakfast nook, on the bottom floor was very bright, cute artwork and colors. small breakfast choices, not the best, The lobby was the best, very eclectic, furry lamps, ornate chairs and sofa, victor hugo quips, just a fun place to stay. The receptionst the next morning helped us to secure a shuttle van to the cruise terminal.
On our way back home from Corse we stayed one night with two teenagers in quadruple room. The room was small but functional and tidy. The location of the hotel near everything was excellent. Breakfast was hardly worth the price.
This was our second visit to Nice, a city I love for its art, belle époque architecture, food, Promenade, and of course the deep blue Mediterranean. The Villa Victor Hugo is situated to easily enjoy all those things. It is a 10-minute walk to the Promenade along a street lined with shops and very good brasseries. Vieux Nice, with its famous market, plazas and shops is 15 minutes away on foot. The hotel has no on-site parking, but there is a public parking garage around the corner if you choose to drive. Our room on the sixth floor overlooked the lovely protestant church steeple on the west side of the building and we enjoyed the city view at night. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. My only regret was that the thick duvet on the bed was far too hot for comfortable sleeping, and the A/C was turned off for the season. We were reluctant to open the window at night because of mosquitoes. (Duvets were the trend in all the places we stayed from the north to the south of France. Thick, heavy bed coverings in a temperate climate. We just don't understand it.) The bathroom was clean and modern with a great shower. The front desk staff, though reserved, was courteous, helpful and efficient. We would love to stay here again for another vacation. After the heartbreaking attack on the Promenade last year, I wondered how Nice would be changed since our last visit. Certainly the city has stepped up security, and armed guards are visible patrolling the beach and streets. We felt safe and secure at all times, and it was heartening to sense that Nice's sunny personality lives on undiminished.
We spent a night here after flying into Nice before training on to Monaco. The hotel served our purpose well, as it was centrally located where we could easily walk to both the waterfront and Vieux Nice. I had requested a comfort room with balcony, and it was ready for us on our early arrival. These are French balconies, so not for sitting on, but nice for checking the outside temperature and extending the feel of the room. The room was clean, good size, and had a sizable bathroom. There was no tub, but the shower was large. (There was very little storage space in the room, so that would be a problem for a longer stay.) The desk agent was helpful in providing directions and recommendations. I don’t hesitate to recommend the hotel.
