Loved our Newport stay at Gilded

We had a great stay at Gilded in Newport RI. The staff was accommodating upon our early arrival. The room was spotless. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was perfect. Location was ideal— within walking to all the Newport things. We’d stay there again!

Conveniently located, nice older property with generally very nice atmosphere. The air conditioner in our room developed loud ticking and dripping sounds overnight. So much so we couldn't sleep and needed to get up early and leave. No manger was not available to discuss matter that morning. I requested call back with no luck. Finally reached the manager a couple of weeks later and requested some type of credit. The answer I got was that I should have called for service in the middle of the night which would have cost us our entire night's sleep. She promised to look into the situation and a possible credit but never did follow up. Very disappointed after spending decent money for this room. I was left with the impression that management couldn't care less about out experience and inconvenience. We wouldn't stay here again.

The breakfast was amazing , beds comfy - my suggestion since it is quite dark is to offer some light up plug in magnification mirrors to have if anyone needs. It was just very difficult to see to put makeup on and tweeze eyebrows. Possibly space heaters available as it got unexpectedly quite cold - Otherwise we loved it and everyone was so nice !!

Highly Recommend!

Absolutely loved our stay at Gilded. There are 17 rooms so larger than a normal B&B but not a full scale hotel. It's in a great location and walkable to the wharf and many restaurants/shopping. The decor is gorgeous and our room was large and well appointed with all the toiletries (that smell amazing). The staff was gracious and helpful. The breakfast spread was such a lovely surprise and the perfect way to start the day in Newport. Would love to return to this hotel and highly recommend it to other travelers.
