Really friendly and helpful staff, the room was nice and spacious and the breakfast was much better than an average Continental, including porridge, hot chocolate and scrumptious fresh strawberries and blueberries (NB: the last will be seasonal bonus). Parking included for one car and great perk, especially as you're right in the centre. All in all a great place and I'd recommend to anyone, family and friends.

We arrived during a heat wave to find the AC in our 4th floor room not cooling correctly. We brought the problem to the attention of Mary who contacted the owner and maintenance man and had a new AC unit in our room by that evening. Thank God! The location is an easy walk to the waterfront. The beds, pillows are so comfortable and the breakfast is great! The bathrooms are small but to be expected for a historic home.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Yankee Peddler Inn. Our room was lovely...very comfortable bed, small but adequate private bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful as this was our first time in Newport. The Inn is very walkable to the waterfront area where you'll find lots of shops and restaurants. Parking for 1 car was helpful.

We just enjoyed our two-night 35th anniversary "honeymoon" at this extraordinarily lovely inn, a gift from our kids. The reviews are all accurate and we join with so many who have been pleased with their stay. The property is very well maintained, the inn cozy and charming. We stayed in the Carriage House which was next to the main house and very quiet. Our room was very clean and the bath amenities were exquisite. (I don't usually rate these, but I felt pampered.) When we arrived, we were greeted by Laura, the innkeeper, who was friendly and informative. Breakfast is ultra-continental with everything you could imagine from delicious home-baked croissants to fresh fruit, a large variety of cereals, oatmeal with all the fixings, yogurts, juices, meats, and hard boiled eggs. As other reviewers have said, the coffee is really delicious and worth mentioning. We arrived back at the inn our second night to be pleasantly surprised with an anniversary card and a bottle of wine, which was such a thoughtful gesture which we really appreciated. The inn is conveniently located within walking distance of the harbor, the shops, and the restaurants. We would surely stay at this inn next time we visit and we highly recommend it for everything mentioned, in addition to its reasonable rates. Its location in the historic district is another plus, I should mention. Other travel tips: take the Viking Trolley Tour and the Aquidneck Harbor Sail, whose crew is super friendly; you'll have a great understanding of Newport by land and by sea. For restaurants, try The Moorings for a romantic, delicious waterfront dinner, The Lobster Bar for a casual waterfront lunch, and Speakeasy for a buttery lobster roll. Have cocktails at The Wharf with Randy, the friendly bartender. Whatever you do, you'll have fun.

For a building that’s nearly 200 years old, the management has done a stunningly good job of maintaining this beautiful, old inn. Everything is in tip-top shape. Don’t expect anything modern, or spacious. It’s a colonial building. The front desk, always manned, is a model of gracious attention and service. We were upgraded to room room #9 when I asked to minimize steps. The room was immaculate, had a 4-Post bed with a great mattress and super comfortable pillows. The bathroom, though tiny, was well equipped with a walk-in shower. WiFi is strong throughout. There’s an outside deck near the roof which is very comfortable on a sunny day. Breakfast is served in the basement. There’s an assortment of cheeses, meats, yogurt, cereals, teas, and very good coffee. Just enough to start off the day. Parking is ample and free. We will be back to see more of Newport, this being our first visit, and there’ll be no question about where we’ll stay.

This place exceeded our expectations! We booked the Yankee Peddler a week prior to our stay and we’re glad we did! Perfect location within walking distance of the local harbour and an array and shops and restaurants. And a 20 minute walk away from the start of the Newport Cliff Walk. Our room was in the carriage house and was just what we needed. The main plus point to this hotel is by far the service of the staff. Especially in our experience the blonde lady with curly hair (we didn’t catch her name). She was very helpful and welcoming. Thank you Yankee Peddler for a lovely stay.

We liked our room. The bed was very comfortable. Perhaps too high for some people. Updated bathroom. The couch was low and uncomfortable. We enjoyed the rooftop deck. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had an issue that was resolved quickly and satisfactory. Location is great for walking to restaurants and shops. Street noise could be an issue. Decent continental breakfast with good coffee. We would stay again.

I stayed in a room at the Carriage House for only 1 night. First, it was very rough for me to check-in at the main house, due to the steep steps. I use a cane due to having had 4 knee surgeries. The owner told me she changed my room to stay on the second floor of the Main house; I told her I could not climb those steep steps. She then gave me the original room I paid for at the Carriage House. Getting to the Carriage House was also difficult for me! 3 steep steps up, without a railing (through the bushes), then 3 steps down at the Carriage house, then more steps without a railing to my room #18 below. The room it self was big enough, but dirty. I don't think they dusted it before I arrived. It was also very hot in the room, no control of the temp. or thermostat and I could not open any window. If I had known about all the steep steps, I would not have stayed here. I would not recommend this Inn to anyone with physical ailments; esp. knee surgeries or problems.

Was a last minute decision to change our route to include Newport and so glad we did. Accomodation was tight due to seafood festival and got last room at Peddler Inn without knowing anything about it. Very pleasant surprise pulling into this wonderful old Inn, walking distance from downtown restaurants and sights. Room was smallish but comfortable. A few stairs to climb. Nice set up for breakfast and complimentary wine in the afternoon. Home made cookies available all day was also a nice touch. Parking is tight but they make it work. Nice deck to enjoy in the afternoons (bit chilly when we were there). Very pleasant stay and loved exploring the gilded mansions which are very easy to get to from the Peddler.

Plus Points - excellent location within easy walk of harbour nice, clean rooms in two characterful houses choice of breakfast items is fairly good and works well open-deck is very nice, with pretty fairy lights Free coffee and cookies provided late pm and eve Room 15 bed is up against the window, so can’t comfortably sit-up and pillows likely to fall down the back (though they provide 3 each, so use 1 / 2 to fill the gap) Not-so Plus Points Rooms 15-19 are in the Coach-house down the path with no tea/coffee. If you like T/C in bed (as we do) you have to walk 30m to the back door of the main house - advice is to have a room in the main house Shower in Rm 15 has low pressure so you have to stand very close Slightly grumpy check-in (but girl later was lovely)
