We went to the Wednesday wine tasting experience, you get 5 small glasses of wine accompanied with a small plate of food...it was outstanding. Our host talked us through each of the wines, he was very knowledgeable, the value was good $35 each My only niggle was walking outside to have a drink, one medium wine and a vodka and orange $32 that's a bit overpriced guys
The place was beautiful. Room was great. Beds were comfortable. View was perfect. Great location. BUT... The entire place just had such an strange, abandon feeling to it! We were very disappointed especially because of the very high price per night! Parking and breakfast not even included! No coffee pot... but there was a full bar in the room. Went to breakfast at 8am and no one was there to take our order. No coffee. Nothing. Reception was strange. Music in lobby was loud. Young inexperienced girls. Will not go back and do not recommend this hotel. Not at all a feel good place. Where was everyone??? Left us with such a strange feeling.
Every detail of this hotel is absolute perfection. My Husband and I were welcomed upon arrive by the manager who was absolutely lovely. The lobby is so tasteful and modern. Our room was so beautiful - I was completely obsessed with every detail from the tasteful mini bar, to the hand written welcome note, to the decor which included a variety of fascinating books , the exquisite bath products, oh and the TUB. I lived in that tub for a solid hour with a glass red wine in heaven. And I’m glad I forced myself to get out because that was followed by quite possibly the most amazing meal we have ever had downstairs at the grill. The view is in the heart of the marina surrounded by these gorgeous yachts. We were treated to a chefs tasting menu that was mind blowing. We cannot wait to go back!!!!
Had a wonderful two night stay over the Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival weekend. Although I had looked to stay here before, this was my first stay at Forty 1° North, and I was not disappointed. The hotel is chic, with a mellow ambience. The staff is friendly but professional. I loved the harbor view from my spacious room. The room was very clean, and the bathroom had a spa shower and a separate, large soaking tub. And the food at The Grill was excellent! Loved my stay and can't wait to get back.
We are currently at Forty 1 North and are more than a little irritated. The room has but one tiny chair ( and I am a tiny person, but my husband is not...he is sitting on the floor because there is nowhere else to sit). The hotel has lovely public spaces, both inside and out but loud music plays incessantly throughout the hotel and outside and at the bar ...it would be impossible to read in any public spaces or, for that matter, in the room because the music from outside can be heard even with the windows closed. It would be lovely to sit outside on the sunny patio, but the music prevents that. Tried to go to the outdoor bar yesterday ...it was self service because of where we wanted to sit ( as far from the music as we could get) but the bartender rather snootily completely ignore me and we ended up going elsewhere. BTW, there is also no coffee machine in the room ( I think because the counter space is taken up by a giant collection of alcohol bottles). The bed is nice, as is the location but I would never come back. I think the intended clientele is young trendies but that is not who is going to be staying here on a Monday in mid September. spaces and it is difficult to do so in our room because the music
The service was extremely friendly and cordial. Especially Matthew, who happened to be the host speaker for our Wine tasting during this past weekend Food & Wine Festival. the Hotel is beautiful and well located and the restaurant is excellent. Highly recommend, great place to watch Sunsets!
Those that follow me know I pick my trips well, so don’t expect to give low ratings. This hotel was well researched BUT it is style over substance. Great location, rooms nice, bed comfortable, but shower drips constantly (very annoying). The staff look great, but are poorly trained and unhelpful, never where you need them. Chef is great but let down by poor front of house
My husband and I picked forty 1 north to be the destination for our dream wedding. We love the way we feel when we are there! It’s so gorgeous, relaxing, and chic all @ the same time. The customer service is above and beyond! Lauren, Emily, and Rafaela were the ultimate dream team! They literally thought of everything! They were so knowledgeable but the icing on the cake were their incredible personalities! Everything down to the smallest detail was perfect! We were treated like a prince and princess the entire time we were there. All of our guests were from out of town and were also blown away by the beauty and charm of forty 1 north. I can’t thank the entire team enough for making my dream day come true. We can’t wait to go back!!
Everything from the interiors to the staff was impeccable! The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and had more than we needed. The views from the room were of the marina and harbor, which is why we wanted to stay here. Did not disappoint!
This hotel is right in the heart of Newport, but tucked back away from most of the street noise. It is contemporary and the rooms are a comfortable size. Our room faced the water and had a balcony. That was the good part. The food is just Okay. We had a breakfast there and as along as it is something that they just have to assemble (such as a yogurt parfait) it is fine, if it is something they actually have to cook, watch out. It was obvious that my bacon had been heated and reheated multiple times, to the point where it was pretty much uneatable. I thought that it was a non-smoking hotel, but the people just below us were constantly smoking on their balcony. Also the music that plays incessantly is a loud dreadful techno mess. The hotel is right on the water, it would have been nice just to have the tranquility of the harbor sounds. Service is nonexistent, as everyone who works there appears to be under the age of 20. It began when we arrived, the kid manning the front desk was on the phone and we had to wait till she was done. Adults acknowledge new guests and tell them that they will be with them shortly. Upon checking into our room, we found that two of the waste baskets were full of garbage. When we asked questions of the front desk people, they had little knowledge of the area, and one of the girls was frequently flirting with the valet guys. Upon returning home, we checked our email for our receipt, and unfortunately there was an error. It has been impossible to talk to anyone with any knowledge or authority to do anything about it. They do not return phone calls, nor do they “look into it” when they say they will. While the staff was friendly, they truly were less than competent. All they do is send another copy of the incorrect bill. STAY AWAY!! There are a number of other very nice hotels in the area and new ones are opening all of the time.
