White Sands Negril

Staff was friendly and owner was accommodating. Owner took the time to listen to our complaint and then remedied it with a solution for which we were grateful. The hotel had a beach that we could go to any time of the day. The surrounding was fairly safe.

Spent a week at White Sands Negril. Love the staff. Just hung out at the beach bar, and the sand

It's on the beach and good for budget travellers. Location is great, but the rooms are not very fancy.

Did not feel safe there at all. The motel premises does not seem to be secure. My cousin got her money stolen from inside of the hotel room and there were no signs of a break-in. There is no in-room safe. All the safes are in the motel check-in area out in the open which is along the side of the road. You do need 2 keys to open the safe (one key they assigned to you and the other key which the hotel staff keeps). I've seen copies of the safe key that is assigned to the motel guest. This is not reassuring at all as someone who had access to the keys stole my cousin's money. You have been warned.

Very relaxing not the most fancy hotel but very clean good staff of people. Great view of the ocean and beautiful natural garden.

A great time at this hotel. Just needed a wash rag and a television.

This was our first beachside vacation (we're used to hiking in the mountains or non-stop site-seeing excursions) and we were not disappointed. The staff at White Sands was helpful in finding things to do, arranging safe and inexpensive ways to get there, and recommending great places to eat (including pointing out which beach vendors had the best fruit or meat patties). We felt very safe at the hotel and were pleased with our room. True, we didn't have a phone or TV in the room, but I looked at that as a bonus! The beds were a bit hard, but that was remedied by putting back a few rum punches at the bar (gotta love those 2 for 1 specials). We were warned before going that the local "peddlers" could be overwelming and even annoying at times, but I found that a polite, "No, thank you", did the trick and they continued on their way. White Sands was in the perfect location for spending a few days lounging on the beach and then taking some time to check out the local sites. One day we walked up the road, rented a Jeep and headed out to the mountains to have a look around. Another day we rented a scooter, drove 30 minutes over to Half Moon Beach for great snorkling and good food, and then jetted back over to the cliffs for a romantic, sunset dinner at LTU pub. For another excursion the hotel helped us a arrange a driver and tour guide who took us out to YS Falls, the Black River tour and Pelican Bar. I would definitely recommend White Sands as a great place to hang your sunhat in Negril!

The staff is always friendly. The bartender keeps everyone entertained. The food (only open for breakfast and lunch) is great and reasonably priced, along with the drinks at the bar. My room was very nice. At times I did miss not having a TV but it made me find other ways of entertaining myself, which is sometimes needed. When I really needed my TV fix I just went to the bar.

Best location. Directly in middle of 7 mile beach.

This hotel provides very basic accommodations but in a great location. If you plan to spend most of your time outside of the hotel enjoying the beach and visiting other attractions in the city and just want a good base location on the beach, this is a good value. The hotel itself has no amenities to speak of - it's about as far from an all-inclusive experience as you can get. The hotel restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, but the front desk offers free pick-up service for a number of nearby restaurants and there are several other options within walking distance. Bring your own beach towels, snorkeling gear, etc as there is no option to borrow/rent anything from the hotel. The rooms come with beds, a small refrigerator, and a very basic bathroom. Rooms were kept reasonably clean but took ages to cool down between the underpowered A/C unit and gaps in the windows & doors. (Several windows had screens & slats, but no glass)The service wasn't anything to rave about with the notable exception of [...] at the front desk, who was super helpful at several points.

The hotel was very nice. It was located right on the beach and the beach alone was just beautiful. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed every night there. If your looking to not spent much on your hotel stay...this is perfect! I highly recommend it.

Hotel is VERY well located. Staff and Management are ALL Gracious hosts. Went out of their way to make us feel welcome!Beautiful place...Will be back!

Pros. The Manager [...] is extremely helpful, pleasant and friendly. Our Housekeeper [...] was very pleasant and did her job superbly.Great Location, they provided maps for us to find our POI.Cons.Take the cheap laundry marker "WS" and room number of the towels and wash cloths. It give the impression of summer camp for children when the parents write on the clothes and underwear.Front desk staff could be more pleasant. Suggestion.Bigger beds

Whenver we go to negril we like to stay at a different place and the white sands is worth a try for the budget minded. If you cant find what you want, just ask. They will make it all iree. There are lots of places to shop and eat within walking distance. [...] is selling lobsters on the beach 4 for $20. You can buy a fresh pineapple and they will cut and bag it for you. The worst looking bananas are better than our best in the states. Every night the Sun Beach has 2 lobster dinners for $38US. Forget about not having a tv or phone all you need is the air conditioning and fridge.

The hotel property was robbed the night before we arrived. Security, non-existant, locks on door inopperable. This property is had mold on ceiling of bed rooms, peeling paint, small bugs all over bed covers.I will be requesting a refund.

I did enjoy my stay. What could have made it better was having a tv in the room. At the time of booking I didnt realize there were no tv and it wouldn't be bad to have wifi in the rooms, or some of the rooms could have these things and make them optional to customers. I do understand some people like rooms with no entertainment, but some rooms could have it and make those rooms optional.

White Sands is a wonderful hotel that, in my opinion, can accommodate any type of traveler. My three friends and I, all aged between 23-25, had the time of our lives. The hotel owners, staff, bartenders, and waiters were all incredibly courteous and treated us with much respect. Moreover, the hotel security guard did a wonderful job and made it so we could truly relax on the beach. The native salesmen can be a handful from time to time, but Liddon made sure that when we were beach lounging, they would not be an issue. Without hesitation, I would recommend White Sands to families, singles, and couples. The beach is incredible, and centrally located on the seven-mile beach, perhaps in the most ideal location there is.

Excellent location, very laid-back, excellent house keeping, beds were a little hard, the refrigerator was not working properly and not addressed, and the people were somewhat bother some even during the evening events with asking for money/drinks at the reggae shows and events, not a problem at the hotel, lobster brought to you freshly cooked on the beach is awesome....

I hope this helps: 1. The hotel, you get what you pay for! Which is little. There are is no TV in the room, no phone, beds are two twin beds pushed together, so you end up with a broken back. You may say, who needs all of that when you are in Jamaica. Believe me, after several days, when it get dark at 7, you do. Trying to walk the beach was unsuccessful, because in 10 minutes, 10 people beg you to buy any drug imaginable and there are rarely other people waking when it gets dark. If you walk the street you get honked at least 100 times, someone trying to offer you a taxi ride. 2. Not staying at the resort is not the way to go. Prices in Jamaica are outrageous! If you think you will get a cheap hotel and then go all out for meals, think twice. For a bottle of Coke (vending machine size) at dinner we paid $4.25, fruit shake $6. Dinner per person is approximately $20-$30 at least. At that rate, for 5 days you can stay at a 5 star all inclusive resort and enjoy your vacation. 3. Not very sanitary. I did not trust the food, the people, nothing. They seem very nice and want to talk and welcome everyone, but that is as long as you are buying something from them. My husband got sick really bad, fever, diarrhea, etc. Since there was no phone in the room, the medical emergency numbers were posted at the office but that was useless. 4. The beach is breathtaking, but that is about it. Miles of white sand and crystal clear waters. We went snorkeling for 1/2 day and that was wonderful! Overall, the beach could have been much more enjoyable had I not been asked to buy something every 2 minutes. You are reading your book or napping, and someone who has asked you for the 10000 time to buy something again comes up to you interrupting, waking you up or whatever it takes to get your attention. Ignoring does not work. As mentioned, I have been much better places and for what it ended up costing us, we could have stayed at a 5 star resort with all the amenities not worrying about the food we ate that we paid an arm and a leg for. I have been to the Dominical Republic two times, stayed at an all-inclusive resort and hotel and it is a much more enjoyable experience. The people are friendlier, you don't feel like being taken advantage off and you will have a much better experience.

This is my third time to the White Sands and I will be back. I love the location, the friendly staff, and the beach! It's just perfect if you aren't a picky traveller. You are in one of the most beautiful places in the world- just enjoy it! The rooms are very basic- we were never in our room anyways.
