Mercure Hotel München Altstadt

Nice clean room, station is nearby, breakfast is fine, city hall, St. Peter's church and other historical sits are nearby.

Good hotel in a good location. Staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful and polite.

I was very pleased with my stay here: friendly, English-speaking staff; great breakfast included in the price; fantastic location near the downtown area and a short walk to the S-Bahn trains; cheap in-room Internet (3 euros a day); really a great hotel.

2 extra days in Munich and the location was perfect - we were 3 couples 70+ coming off a great River Cruise and could walk to everything we wanted to see, eat, and experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable and accommodating. The only thing missing was ice. No way to get ice. The price was great considering that a full buffet breakfast was included between 6:30 and 10:30 and the breakfast was very good. I would recommend this to my family and friends. CP

The good is the location. Walking distance to what we wanted to see. The breakfast was good. There is construction across the street - 10 feet away from the front of the hotel. We had to keep the windows closed all the time. The pillows were thin. There were comforters but no sheets.

I like the location of this hotel, as it's close to down town, also to train stations, but the facilities there is below the expectations.

Breakfast was great and the location really was nice.

Good, clean room in a great location. Friendly staff, substantial breakfast. I can happily recommend this hotel, BUT I suggest that you stay away until construction across the street is complete, if noise outside your window at 5 AM might disturb you (all rooms face this huge construction site).

Great, Hepful and the breakfast buffet can't be beat!

Hard to find, even the cars GPS had us going in circles. The hotels is listed as having parking available but in fact the parking is very limited, so much so you probably wont get a spot. There is a city garage directly next to the hotel for a similar price 20Euro for overnite parking, closed on Sundays and holidays! We were upgraded to a suite on the top floor, it was more of a small apartment than a suite. Overall, the location made up for the hassle of the parking.

The hotel is in a great location to see the city highlights (market center, museums, dining), and the facilities are well maintained (usually small rooms). But we thought the service at every level was bordering on rude. Given the price we paid for our room, we felt nickled and dimed at every turn. I am sure there are equally attractive hotels in Munich with a warm, welcoming German staff.

Very close to Marianplatz. 5 min.safe walk. Nice clean rooms.

Very professional and friendly service. Everybody spoke English. Breakfast, although expensive for non-Europeans, is all-you-can-eat continental with excellent quality food (I especially liked freshly squeezed orange juice, bread, selection of jams and honey, smoked fish). Location for the price is excellent: 2-3 min walk from Marienplatz and 1-2 min walk from several great restaurants.

This hotel gave a terrific experience - the staff at the front desk was just superb and exceptionally helpful... the location was perfect and the amenities were top drawer... the breakfast was the absolute best...

Non-descript side street entrance, but pleasant, efficient and suitable for business as well as vacation travelors. Expensive 15Euro breakfast not included in price. Great location right off main pedestrian street and easy walking distance to Marienplatz. Walkable (close to mile) from train station, quarter mile from S/U Bann. English TV basically limited to CNN/BBC

very good

This hotel has a great location! The breakfast was amazing! The staff was helpful, but not overly friendly. The hotel has more of an executive, chain feel than a quant, local hotel, but the rooms were clean and we had what we needed.

large comfortable rooms; great bathroom; separate AC control in room; great location, close to the train station & many attractions; no English speaking TV available during our stay; daily charge for wireless internet and breakfast - great breakfast but price was higher than one could purchase at nearby restaurants; room had small refrigerator stocked with free beverages

The Mercure Altstadt was in a fantastic location. Very close to the Marianplatz and easy walk within all the old town sites of Munich. The hotel was very clean, comfortable beds, and a great shower. [...] My only comment about the hotel was that the front desk staff didn't seem to know what we were talking about when we asked about a few tours/things to do from a travel guide (Mike's Bike Tours, Donisl restaurant). The restaurant was a 5 min walk, and it seemed that the bike tour was one of the big things to do in Munich. At any rate, our stay was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again if we return to Munich.

The room was all right. The staff was very helpful.
