We just stayed in Munich with our two children and I am SO glad we chose the Louis Hotel. First, the location simply can't be better. It is right in the middle of town within walking distance to all of the sights. The rooms are very nice, clean, and well-organized. I'd originally worried that we wouldn't have enough space, so we booked two connecting rooms. however, the rooms were much bigger than I expected based on the photos online. We had more than enough space. Finally, the staff were all so helpful, both in the booking process as well as during our stay. I would highly, highly recommend this hotel.
We are staying in Munich, and found the reviews on TripAdvisor to be accurate. The location of this hotel is outstanding, as it is right next to the market and all of the major shopping and attractions. We also got two rooms next to each other, and they were the highest priced, but extremely spacious, clean and well arranged. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. Prior to the stay, we had e-mailed back and forth about arrangements and dates. The responses were always prompt and personal (unlike large hotel chains). We also arranged for a driver through the hotel. That made our trip to the hotel after an 11 hour flight extremely easy. We ate at Emiko for dinner and for breakfast. Both meals were excellent. Breakfast was expensive, but the food was unique. If you don't want the breakfast, there are plenty of other breakfast options within a block. Lastly, downstairs from the hotel is a chocolate shop that is incredible and is highly recommended.
The location of the hotel is awesome for a quick stay in Munich. Right at the market. Location isn't everything here, though. The hotel itself was really pleasant and quiet. The staff was very kind even after I whirled in, frustrated with trying to find a place to put the car (don't worry, it's actually very easy. I recommend having them valet it for you or there is a parking garage very close). I will stay here again and recommend it!
Didn't expect to stay here but made a cardinal sin and booked the wrong first night at the other hotel. We turned up at 10.30, had a drink in the bar. Negroni (off menu) was amazing. I had a double upgrade, the room was swish, large and plush. Though I thought there would be a coffee machine in it, that was probably the only disappointment. Breakfast next morning was worth the €35 fee, it was superb. Best breakfast I've had in a hotel for a long time.
Right in the heart of Munich and just of The Marienplatz, this hotel is remarkable for its friendly service, beautiful rooms, and amazing beds. You are assured of a great night's sleep and the roof top bar will help you if you need a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap!
I only stayed here for one night, but instantly loved the hotel. My room was stylish with a lovely view over the local market. There was a lot of attention to detail throughout from the scented pillow spray to the bathroom amenities. It was also possibly one of the cleanest hotel rooms I've experienced. The location is fab and convenient for business and pleasure. The breakfast was great, with a lot of international options, which I loved. I would certainly recommend the hotel and stay there again.
Our family of 3 stayed for four nights in two "Market View Deluxe Rooms." The rooms were generally comfortable (although the beds were rather firm, which is not our preference) with small balconies overlooking the local market. The location is VERY central, affording an easy walk to many points of interest. The air conditioning worked half the time, and when it did, it was fine. The mgmt. was apologetic and responsive in working to get it fixed---which is important if you prefer sleeping with A/C (especially in the summer). The style of the room was casual, comfortable and contemporary, with sufficient storage or space to accommodate 3-4 bags. The bathroom was well-appointed, although the shower/bath combination is not suitable for individuals with mobility concerns, or even the elderly, as it is quite a large step to get in and out. The staff are very friendly and responsive, and definitely interested in lending a helping hand---from collecting bags, to parking cars, or making suggestions and reservations. At this price point, I believe you are certainly getting a good value for your money, excluding the breakfast buffet which is rather pricey for what it is. The room service bento box was good quality and good value; we had it twice. Overall, we would probably consider staying here again based on location, convenience, and a staff that is caring.
Just got back from 6 days at this hotel, and we just loved it. Location is ideal- so much to see within walking distance with lots of choices for food and drink, but also close to public transportation. Rooms were spacious, relaxing and very clean. Highly recommend.
I was scheduled to stay 2 nights at the Louis hotel last week, but left after just 1 night. The 2-star rating is really not very descriptive -- the Louis is terrific at some things, but, for me, failing in its most important mission. The Louis offers some excellent features. Foremost is its outstanding location: it's next to the Viktualienmarkt and just a block from Marienplatz -- exactly where you want to be as a tourist in the old part of the city. The area is flooded with shops, restaurants of all types, and interesting streets to wander. The hotel itself is tucked into a set of buildings -- you'll likely need some help finding the entrance. I reserved a Courtyard Superior room, neither the lowest nor highest priced. The room itself had a few good design features, and a few really awful ones. I liked the closet that pulls out of the wall -- like a pocket door, but actually a pocket closet. Also like that the TV was a bit hidden and not the dominating feature of the room. The room did not include a chair. Zero chairs: that was pretty much a first for me in a hotel room. There was a bench at the foot of the bed, and another bench at the desk/work area. But no chair -- not an easy chair for sitting, nor a desk chair. But the crowning feature of discomfort was the bed, surely the hardest bed I've ever been asked to sleep on in a hotel. The "pillows" were well-paired with the bed, as they were similar to Japanese buckwheat pillows. (In fairness, a brochure in the room told of different types of pillows that were available.) When I went to check out after just 1 night, the manager said that a pad was available to soften the mattress, and he also said that later this year the hotel hoped to have some different types of mattresses. But I couldn't afford to lose another night's sleep, and switched to another hotel.
The Louis Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Munich. Our room overlooked the fantastic market and is close to the beer gartens. Our room looked exactly like the picture above and was very neat and clean. The windows provided sound dampening so we didn't hear the street noise down below. It is located near amazing restaurants and shopping. Parking is very difficult and the bed was very uncomfortable. The hotel staff wasn't very welcoming, friendly or helpful. They did not offer a valet to help with our bags or help us hail a taxi. Our interaction with the staff will definitely send us to another hotel on our next visit.
