We found this hotel via Frommers, Fodors etc as well as our T/A colleagues. This location is perfect (please don't be 'scarred off' by the proximity to the Market.) The rooms facing the Market are remarkable and when the Market closes the quietness and tranquility come through. This location is close to anything you'd want to do in Munich, yet seems like a peaceful 'out of the way' location. Windows are triple pained (appeared to be) so if you'd like absolute silence this is the place for you (plus AC for hotter days.) Rooms are ~ 450 SF and perhaps cleaner then our own home. Beds are extremely comfy, bathrooms with soaking tub and tiled floors, walls are a great touch. We stayed in room 406 facing the Market. Perhaps the best part of the stay is the staff - respectful, discrete yet helpful should you have any requests - Samuele and Milena truly know how to put their guests first. The on-site restaurant was solid - we had room service, though the roof-top space is a bit tight and staff were a bit 'pretentious.' Not bad, but less shall we say 'flexible and appreciative' then the Staff at the Louis. So to summarize - simply stay here when Munich. All is at your door step (including a U/S bahn stop at Marienplatz), though when you come home for the night you simply feel - at home ! Enjoy
You can't get a better experience for seeing a city then staying across the street from a lively farmers market and the Louis delivers. Skip the unique Asian-fusion breakfast for 28 Euros at the hotel and walk across the street, except on Sunday, to the market and pick up fresh hummus, oysters and juice and then go have yourself a picnic in the English Garden using the free trendy bicycles at the hotel. Once inside the modern design hotel is very quiet and welcoming. You won't find a bunch of hipsters drinking coffee in the lobby, because there isn't much, other than a bar and some seating. A little further on you'll find the in-house restaurant, which I didn't have time to try. There is also a roof bar and restaurant, but it was close when I came back to the hotel after a long day of exploring. The room, 404, was rather spacious with cleverly designed cupboards hiding everything from the TV, fridge to the clothing cabinet. The bathroom is also nicely designed with subway tiles and good water pressure. The toilet is in a smaller separate room. The bed is rather firm, but I slept well. Be sure to ask the front desk to change your pillow if they aren't to your liking, the hotel offers several options. Wifi is free and the A/C is quite strong. I will be making this my go-to hotel when I travel to Munich in the future.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Louis Hotel! The room was very spacious and the bathroom was luxurious! The front desk concierges we so helpful with any of our questions, and helped us use the free bikes many times over the few days we were there. The hotel location is great, right next to the Viktualienmarkt, and the Marienplatz U-bahn stop. Would highly recommend!
Our room was a very nice and efficiently laid out room on the 3rd floor overlooking the courtyard. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job. The location near the Viktualienmarket and Marienplatz was perfect for us and it was nice to be near attractions as well as transportation. The location near so many churches as well as the Glockenspiel made for seemingly endless bells in the morning, which I enjoyed but may make sleeping in difficult for some. The bar staff was absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed our evening nightcaps here. Breakfast was good with some unusual and usual choices.
Hotel is clean and has a good location, but after that it fell short in every conceivable category for a property that is supposed to be 5 star and has room rates to match 5 stars. Restaurant was mediocre Japanese. Most disturbing was front desk service - could not have been worse. We were made to feel they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there.
We stayed on the 3rd floor with a view over the market. The room was very spacious. We had a lovely bath to soak in every night, there is a window into the bedroom which gave a nice feeling of space. Separate toilet. Staff very friendly. Very good location with regards to Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus and the main shopping roads, as well as Avis rental. We never ate here, so cant comment on meals. The hotel is quite highly priced in comparison. Hated the lighting in the cupboard area-too dark and its on a movement sensor, so it keeps switching off. Most annoying. We struggled with wifi which was also annoying as we were trying to plan ongoing travel arrangements. Even writing this review and submitting it was painful and took ages. No tea or coffee in the room. Only 1 bottle of sparkling water and 1 bottle of still water.
We were there 4/2/17 to 4/5/17. Melanie checked us in and made us feel very welcome for our first visit to Munich. She gave us a room on the 6th floor with a great view of the market. Also gave us cake/brownies and 2 bottles of water. The location of this hotel could not be better. The market is across the street, Marienplatz and restaurants like Hofbrauhaus and Der Pschorr are just walking distance. For our American tourist Starbucks is half a block away. Thanks for the great job Melanie.
I stayed at the Louis Hotel for a few nights. The hotel is modern and has an excellent location. It overlooks Viktualienmarket and Marienplatz is around the corner. It is also ideal for those who like to shop, as there are a couple of department stores nearby. The staff was very friendly, particularly Katrina who booked my train tickets to Salzburg. The rooms are well decorated and, for those with back pain, you will love the mattress! It is hard and very comfortable. There is only one remark on the hotel. It has very few rooms with a single-attached bathroom. The majority of the rooms in the hotel have detached bathrooms, with the toilet seat separated from the shower and washing basin. If this is an issue for you, make sure you request a room with an attached bathroom as there are very few of those (possibly a handful!). Lastly, if you like to cycle, you can borrow one of their bikes free of charge. I would definitely stay at the Louis Hotel if I visit Munich again!
The staff was accommodating of our wishes, as we showed up early. Clean and cozy rooms are on the small side, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Delicious breakfast with lots of variety. Great location too!
This time I stayed in a single room with a courtyard view and enjoyed the peacefulness and comfortable amenities. This well designed property is so well located next to the Marienplatz station! So easy to reach by S-Bahn from the airport or U-Bahn for getting around, and great to be located right in the old city. They have added an interesting vegetarian buffet to their breakfast offerings which I appreciated. The upbeat modern design, REN bath products and comfortable beds will have me returning on future visits. Also, EMIKO restaurant is quite good. The only downside is the shower curtain did not do a great job of keeping water in my shower, but the water pressure and temperature were heavenly. Thank you HOTEL LOUIS!
