coming from the u.s. and never having been to munich i was clueless on picking a location. this ended up being a great location if you don't mind walking a mile to the center of the city, but trains are easily accessible! the hotel itself was cute and trendy, but the name explains it all...i literally felt like a caterpillar in a cocoon. the bathroom situation is modern but super awkward and small. like imagine 3 small cut-outs in the wall...one with a sink, one with a shower, one with a toilet. other than that sillyness it was clean and comfy!
The hotel was in a great location. However, it was a very small space. Since it was just me, it didn't bother me too much, but I think if I had to share the room with another person I would have gone crazy. The staff was very nice and helpful when it came to giving directions. However, when I checked into the room and turned the air conditioner on, it made a loud rattling noise. I immediately notified the staff, who immediately sent someone to look at it. Someone came immediately but said they would need to come back in the morning with the right supplies. No one ever came or followed up....but since my stay was short and the room was fairly cool I didn't make a big deal out of it. I can't say that I would choose to stay there again if there are other options available in the same location. The experience wasn't terrible but I believe in getting the most for your money and that the hotel should have followed up.
This is a good option if you want to get away from the main tourist areas but still stay fairly central. Good food and bars in the areas around Sendlinger Tor and Goetheplatz. There can be street noise if you're on the front of the building but the windows are new and muffle it pretty well. The rooms are pretty unusual, with the linear bathroom with single sliding door, glass showers and great window seat. If you're sharing a room make sure you're very comfortable with the other person. I like the quirky style but it might not be for everybody. There's not much in the way of features but at the prices I've paid to stay here that's ok. I didn't try the breakfast but it seems quite steep, especially compared to all the excellent bakeries and cafés in the area.
Rooms are small but clean. For the money this hotel is hard to beat given the location. Hotel rooms in Germany are typically smaller but I found this hotel to be easy and efficient.
