Our recent week long stay at the Hotel Koenigshof was outstanding in every aspect. We were so pleased by the service and the friendliness of the entire staff. The room was well appointed and the location cannot be beat for exploring the great city of Munich. Highly recommended.
This hotel is walking distance from the train station HBF and Marienplatz. The rooms are nicely decorated. Request a room facing the Palace of Justice. Unfortunately, the fitness center only has 3 cardio machines and no weights. My husband and son had to walk a couple of blocks to use a fitness center that had the equipment they needed. The Hot tub was out of order during our stay. Last time we were in Munich we stayed here and breakfast was included and it was excellent. This time we can't comment on breakfast as it was not included and we found it to be pricey at 35 pp. Overall, it was a very nice and comfortable hotel. The lady that helped us at the front desk was extremely helpful (wish I could remember her name). I don't think they have a bell boy to help with luggage. Both times we've stayed there we rolled our bags to our rooms. Can't recall anyone there offering to help.
Very elegant and comfortable hotel, with spacious rooms and suites, located on the busiest square of the city, close to the station and to the pedestrian area. Excellent restaurant, Michelin-starred, with a highly dedicated and skilled French Sommelier who knows the city much better than the totally inoperative Concierge (unable to recommend a restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime). Valet parking and excellent service throughout.
Hotel Koenigshof was a great choice for our few days in Munich & its location at the very heart of the city highly convenient. The really stand out feature though was how personal & welcoming the hotel is given its status as one of the city's grande dames, though with just 87 rooms it isn't a behemoth. The interior has the grandeur of a bygone age without being at all stuffy & service is old school & kindly with staff going out of their way to assist. The ugly 1950's exterior facade is in complete discordance with the hotels interior charm. We didn't use the Michelin starred gourmet restaurant but loved the intimate ritzy little bar which serves great cocktails & a fine Prosecco. Breakfast was also very good, a generous & varied buffet with hot dishes cooked to order, fizz on ice & smart proper service. The elegant restaurant has floor to ceiling windows & offers a real experience, hence its renown as one of the top spots in town for a deluxe breakfast. We were also really happy with our room which was generously proportioned with large beds, luxurious drapes & a marble bathroom packed with Etro products. Crucially for me it was also bathed in light from the panoramic window onto Karlsplatz. A great stay.
Our second stay in this hotel was every bit as good as the first. It is located within easy walking distance of the main railway station and the town centre shops and restaurants. Service was excellent - friendly but professional at all times.
The hotel is conveniently situated in Munich centre. The staff were very obliging and friendly, always ready to help with local information and suggestions. Our room was quiet and tastefully furnished. There was an attractive wellness centre on the third floor. We stayed three nights and visited two of the old royal palaces: Nymphenburg, the Summer Palace, and the Residenz the main palace in the centre of town. Both blew our minds, specially the latter which has been beautifully rebuilt and restored to its earlier 17th century glory
Iam extremely not satisfied and shocked to what happen to us in the hotel. Our safety boxs have been robbed by a stranger who get the room keys from the reception !!!! Big value of money and jewellery has been taken and what makes me more SAD is the hotel manager attitude, not even a SORRY word !!!! Really disappointed.
The rooms were ok. Not much nicer than a Holiday Inn. Wellness center was decent. Service was not so great. I called from the wellness center asking them to refill the empty water cooler and they lazily refused to do so, claiming that the fitness center was closed; in actuality, the fitness center was directly attached to the wellness center and was then only source of water, which was highly necessary when sweating profusely in the sauna. Elevators took upwards of five minutes to arrive. Breakfast not included in room cost. Certainly not an acceptable hotel for the cost. Only redeeming quality was the location.
My main grievance concerns the level of noise inside the rooms, which is ridiculous for what is supposed to be a luxury hotel. I was told that my room faced the quiet side of the building, and it was still loud at night. Given the room rates that they are charging, it is unacceptable that they cannot afford to have secondary glazing of windows -- at least for some of the rooms. I switched rooms the next night, and there was constant noise from children running through the hallways day and night and doors slamming. The sound insulation is very poor, and you could hear a child crying in a room across the hall. This is a 5-star hotel? I would have checked out after the first night, but it was a pre-paid, non-refundable booking.
The Konigshof is a deservedly 5 star hotel in a great location Luxurious, large rooms with excellent beds and large bathrooms. The staff was most courteous and helpful. Overall a special place to stay.
