Hotel Koenigshof

The hotel is ideally located near the Hauptbahnhof and a short stroll to the Marienplatz down a broad pedestrian avenue. The Residenz is a bit of a longer stroll, but Munich is a very walkable city (be careful of the bicyclists, though). The smaller rooms are a bit tight but more reasonably priced, and well-equipped. Despite the busy location, rooms are quiet. Staff are pleasant and professional. The restaurant serves a good breakfast, and is truly outstanding for dinner. Parking is available. Overall, the hotel is a good choice, balancing price, convenience and amenities.

What can you say about a place like this that has five star expectations. Mostly whether it meets that rating. But somehow our stay was still more than we'd hoped for. The way we were treated right from the start, and at every point after also. The pure class of it all. A special shout out to Alexander at the bar, who was as nice (and talented) as he could possibly be. We went for the full experience, and reserved a dinner in the restaurant. It was the full five star dining experience (I won't even try and describe the excellence of the food and wine..use your imagination.), with the waiters dancing on fingertips. We spent three a half hours at dinner, and it still seemed to end too soon. Very formal but not pretentious. Breakfast was over the top. One morning i did wear a T shirt to breakfast, and felt bad about it immediately. Not because they said anything, but because I realized it wasn't worthy of the environment, even for breakfast. Sitting in the lobby, we tried to feel it all, because they're rebuilding the hotel in a couple years. We hope very much they maintain some of the current fixtures, to preserve the "feel" of it. We'd love to go back and see what they've done. And oh yes, the location is just perfect. Take the escalator down to the circular shopping mall and all the up escalators are marked with the tram numbers. Once you learn the routes, you can go anywhere easily. We loved Nymphenburg. Overall, we were so glad we chose this one five star as part of a long tour of Europe. Was a highlight we'll remember always.

One of the few hotels where the ancient hierarchy in serving still exists. Wonderful to see. On the negative side, one could see that one will replace this hotel by a new hotel building. The rooms, etc. weren't completely up to date

The Hotel Königshof is just steps away from Central Station, and so it's easy to reach from Munich Airport. The hotel also is close to the Marienplatz square and other noteworthy downtown sites. The vicinity offers a diversity of dining choices, not least including the in-house restaurant, which is very good indeed.

The hotel is located close to the main station, but a bit far from the main shopping and sightseeing. In Front of the hotel there is a tram, metro and train station so it is easy to get around. The hotel, as described by previous reviewers, is dated, not only the look and feel, but also the technical side. The roms are big, they have of course alll amenities needed. But you can tell the age, the windows are old and you hear the noise from the streets. The heating system is dated, the knob to regulate is really old. It is time they rebuild. But they provide nice details to personalize your stay, which is very nice ! For example nice welcome words etc. Check in was very friendly and efficient. The staff in general is very friendly, they always try to do their bets to accommodate your wish, the service is definitely a plus here in this Hotel. Also at breakfast staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is really nice, great choice, good quality. Conclusion is, a bit old and dated hotel but with nice staff with a personal touch , more personal than other luxury hotels in Munich . they might be more modern , more central but have no personal touch. So I can recommend this hotel if you like this personal touch. I like it and am looking forward to experiencing once the rebuilt.

This is a wonderful hotel with attention to detail and many pleasantries. Far too much choice for breakfast - what a dilemma! We had a corner suite - very spacious and airy. A calming place to return to after the hectic city.

Hotel can be highly recommended, top service provided by highly qualified, customer oriented and always very friendly staff. Breakfast buffet very broad, well presented and all fresh. I will be back!!!

I rarely write a review but this just was unacceptable. I wanted to see if I could get a table at the restaurant after some shopping in Marienplatz around 8:30PM. But the door man was probably stereotyping and was being a racist. He wouldn't let me in because I didn't live there. Are you kidding me? Wearing Ferragamos and Prada wasnt good enough. My fellow Americans go to the Bayerischer Hof (lovely place) or Kempinski for better service and a lot nicer staff.

The location of this hotel is impossible to beat with subway/metro at the door (with lots of shops at that level), the train station around the corner, great shopping and restaurants and right across from the entrance to the Old town where all tourist attractions are within walking distance. The service in the hotel is excellent and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities plus extra daily treats. Value was not the best because it was Oktoberfest, but during this festival no great hotel in Munich offers value.

Coincidentally we were here for the opening weekend of Oktoberfest. Great location with walking distance to the main train station and hop on / hop off tourist bus terminals. Also, the central shopping and pedestrian area is just across the Ring strasse. The Oktoberfest site was about a 2.5k easy walk from the hotel. Rooms very comfortable but found one of our mattresses uncomfortable and the shower control positioning behind a glass screen was awkward. Breakfast experience in terms of view, variety of food and waitstaff service was truly exceptional.
