We were traveling to Santa Barbara by bicycle and, in the past, we have always stayed in Monterey. This was our first time staying in Carmel, and we're so glad we decided to make the switch (despite the KILLER hill a cyclist needs to climb if you don't do the 17 Mile Drive to get to Carmel - but I digress....). This is an older, beautifully maintained, very charming property. Small paths lead to most of the rooms. And, as the name suggests, there are fireplaces in each room. A wonderful and inviting way to warm up the room on foggy nights and mornings. I was in Room #26 - Pescadero - a large room and big bathroom (great shower!), lots of light. They have a lovely tradition of serving port and sherry in the late afternoon. Breakfast starts at 8:00 and the room is small, and, when we were there, people were lined up to get in. It's a bit crowded and cramped since by 8:00 everyone is ready to eat and there isn't enough space. That said, we all made it work. It was an adequate breakfast - hard boiled eggs, bagels, sweet rolls, coffee, juice. But you felt rushed since there were people waiting to get in. I understand their challenges with that. There are trays to take breakfast back to the room and many did that. There is also a fabulous Italian restaurant a block or so away where we had dinner. When we decide on a hotel, places to eat that are within walking distance is important and the Fireplace Inn filled the bill on that also.
This hotel is great, it's so quaint, in a great location of Carmel. It's clean and spacious with a fireplace that makes the room cosy! There is parking and the hotel is a few blocks away from the beach. They offer brandy and sherry during happy hour and complimentary continental breakfast is included. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
Our family, my husband and two daughters, stayed in the blue cottage known as Dolores Cottage 1. It was absolutely wonderful! We even had a view of the ocean off the balcony. The kitchen has been updated and has everything including a sizable fridge and dishwasher. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding perfect for the temperature. The windows are a bit old but add to the authenticity of a quaint Carmel cottage feel. The half bath is nice so our girls can share that one except for a shower. We enjoyed the fresh air during the day when we opened the front half door. And the fireplace made the living room cozy. We had such a lovely stay during my niece’s wedding. Thank you to the friendly staff and excellent accommodations!
The Guadalupe room we rented was cozy, comfortable, and quiet. The fireplace really warmed up our room on a cold and rainy night. But, the fireplace took the place of a desk and chair and so I had to used our bed as a table for my computer. There was no light in the shower, making it very dark and so neither my husband or I took one. The continental breakfast wasn't served until 8:00am and we needed to be on the road by 7:00am and so missed it. We also missed the sherry and port Happy Hour because we didn't check in until 6:00pm. I recommend checking in early to get a parking space.
After 16 visits to Carmel, we know the place pretty well. This is our first visit to Fireplace Inn. Stayed in one of the Delores cottages in order to have two bathrooms, plus a kitchen. We love the Carmel restaurants, but also enjoy cooking. We would definitely stay here again.
Hotel Fireplace Inn has got extremely tidy rooms with the facilities of Coffeemaker, microwave, refrigerator, heater, and fireplace. We had booked a room for 4 and it is very spacious with a mini seating area near fireplace. The room has beautiful lighting and one can experience that they have paid attention to very small details when it comes to interiors. The staff is very friendly. They have a cute little restaurant for breakfast and offer freshly made Philadelphia cream cheese with 3 types of Bagels, fresh orange juice, fruits, coffee and tea cakes. Overall, I would again prefer this place for my next stay at Carmel
Very good lactation for this fantastic town. our room was no bigger then a garden shed. but comfortable. The sherry and port happy hour was a bonus. the reception staff were mostly invisible so much so that one of the people we were travelling with checked out another guest
No one was more surprised than me when we checked in this B&B. Pictures looked wonderful, reviews not bad but I experienced utter disappointment, probably the worst room I have ever stayed in. Fireplace, really? Room narrow, shabby just unbelievable. Glad I'm only here one night. Parking is a joke. Reservation says includes parking but I'm told it's first come. I've stayed elsewhere in Carmel on previous trips, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
Wife and I spent four nights here and absolutely loved it. The Casanova Suite is on the 2nd floor and spacious with a nice bathroom. A "continental" breakfast is available in the office area every morning and cocktails in the afternoon. Location is fantastic...just a couple of blocks from the "main drag" Ocean Drive.
We stayed here for 4 nights while we were in town for a family wedding. It is located in the central business district. There were a ton of shops & restaurants within a 4 block radius. The place is unique in its design with lots of beautiful flora and flowers. Really a great place to stay.
