Loved this little inn. Room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The fireplace made it feel extra cosy. My only negative was the room smelt a little musty. Sherry and port served in the reception from 5-6pm was a nice touch. Enjoyed a glass or two in front of the fire.
We loved our room. King size bed, bedroom opened up into the kitchen. Washroom was big, but with a small shower stall. The straw and adobe(?) ceilings were a nice touch. It also had a small porch you could sit on if you so desired. From check-in to in-room signage, there is no shortage of signs reminding you not to smoke. Not that I blame the owners I suppose, some smokers just won't obey smoking rules. And it ruins the room for everyone else. Be prepared for detailed parking instructions, as well. Obsessing over small details aside, this is a cute B&B. Breakfast includes eggs, fruit and bagels. The dining area is small and can be cramped, but still has a nice, cozy feel to it. The area was very quiet which we loved. Carmel is small, so it's a quick walk down to the beach from almost anywhere. Would love to stay here again.
An Inn as charming as the city it is located in. Carmel-by-the-Sea is a polished gem which has shone brighter with time. Briarwood Inn fits in perfectly with Carmel’s warm character. The staff is friendly and inviting. Eager to make sure your stay is memorable. Robin was especially accommodating on my trip which I extended multiple times at the last minute, but she was able to keep me in the same room and move other reservations around so I would not have to move. Her extra efforts really were appreciated, and added to an already great trip.
Love this little B&B walking distance to town, shops, restaurants etc. we had the Cambridge cottage with our kids which was perfect! Beautiful quaint Place! Friendly, helpful staff with great recommendations! A nice change to the big hotel chains!
Cozy little inn that offers all what you need for a romantic getaway to Carmel: our room (Eton) had a fireplace, a super comfy king size bed with all white linens, a mini fridge and a small living room area. The breakfast was good (fresh pastries, coffee cakes, fruit, fresh juice , coffee and bagels) and it was served in a tiny room at the lobby, which added some extra cottage like charm. Some rooms don't include a parking spot, which might be challenging on busy days, but the cost less too. Make sure that you choose the type of room you need.
So we booked this hotel for 1 night last minute (paid 150usd) and our expectations was pretty low. When we arrived I actually thought the place was gorgeous with all the flowers and small houses. The lobby is simple but charming with a fireplace, a house cat and some magasines etc:) we had a very big room with a huge bed, a fireplace, an in-room jacuzzi and small balcony. Everything was old and felt like grandmothers home but we thought it was very charming and liked it a lot. It was clean but old. The location is perfect, very central. The only negative I have to say is that breakfast was not that good.. only sweet muffins & coffe.
My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend and brought our service dog along. I booked the hotel and then called 4 months in advance to make sure we were in a room that allowed service dogs (to be respectful) and if there was anything we needed to know. The person on the phone was pleasant and told me were totally OK to stay in any room and there was nothing else I to know. Once we checked in we mentioned our service dog who was outside and were quickly asked a bunch of questions (which is illegal BTW) and shown a page of rules about having service or emotional pets in the hotel. I told the women that I called in-advance and the receptionist never mentioned any of these rules (i.e not allowing the dog to be alone EVER in the room while we are gone so we would have to get a dog sitter at $15.00 an hour). She continued to tell me I was lying so I pulled up the call on my phone's call log to prove it. She then told me the amount of time of my call was not enough time for a conversation. Then she called her co-worker/friend to see what the conversation of the call was because I continued to argue with her. This call, 4 months prior was important to me. How would this other person remember the conversation?! We asked for our money back so we could stay somewhere else because at this point I felt that we were being attacked. They of course refused to refund us. We were finally able to meet an agreement and ended up staying because we really had no choice. The women personally checked up into our room and unloaded more rules about the room. On top of the worst customer service I have ever had, the hotel is super small and you are totally on top of each other. There is no privacy here. We've come to Carmel at least once a year for 5+ years and recommend staying anywhere but here.
Bring your own soap and shampoo. The travel size they give you isn’t enough for 2 people. We like this motel better than the other two in the area because it is more spacious. The sink is big enough to put things on it.
reception not overly thankful for your visit. Rooms are Ok , bed is good but the loaction is super. Nice to park the car in front of the hotel and the room. Carmel rocks, nice restaurants, great wine tasting and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel has limited accomodation but overall clean and a good experience.
We were in room 46. King bed and a great room about 500sq feet. We had a living area, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave. The bathroom was a little cramped. The hotel is 3 small blocks from the main strip. Carmel is a great place to visit. We had a vary nice time. The b&b offers a continental breakfast. The b&b has about 20 rooms and each one is a different. Our room looked like a cabin will wood walls and ceilings.
