The front desk was very accommodating. Yes, you might have steps but due to an injury I had to request a downstairs room. Fabulous service and yes they graciously moved us. If you select convenience over fancy choose this hotel. Walkable to the beach, convenient to Carmel shopping and you don't have to find street parking. The room could use a little updating (new blinds) but nothing that you can't live with for a few days.
We loved our stay at the Briarwood Inn! It was in such a great, walkable location. The check in process was so easy and suggestions to eat and shop were spot on. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I can't wait to go back!

The cottages were laid out very well. It was extremely comfortable. The furnishings are a little dated, but went well with the cottage feel.
Stayed many times. Excellent location. Park the car and forget about it. Walk anywhere. Staff is courteous and respectful. Love the rooms with kitchens and rooms are quaint but well appointed.
Parking on the property is very tight and there's no late check-out in case you were going for local massage or workout. Check-out is at 11am. no microwave to warm up our coffee or beverage

Breakfast is only available from 8-9:30, even on weekends. It would have been nice it was available on Sunday until 10 or 10:30.
I was shocked to see the empty swimming pool from my window. Not attractive & I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping for a pool. I forgot to check if there was one when I booked the room. The room was pretty comfortable. The bathroom was really small but I made it work. I had a pleasant stay.
Bathroom in Essex room tiny but adequate. Walls thin. Clean, hot shower, thick towels, good continental breakfast, late afternoon sherry a nice touch, outside gardens very nice
We enjoyed our little cottage which had 2 rooms with 2 twins & a king. Plus the living space & kitchen were a nice bonus. The place is quaint but bathroom could use some updating. But everything is clean! Staff is very pleasant. The breakfast is very nice. Just when everyone comes at the same time it can get tight. Only 4 tables available. But overall a nice place and walking distance to town ( 3 blocks) & beach ( about 8 blocks).
Great location for exploring the area. The room was clean and fit our needs perfectly. The breakfast was basically a continental breakfast. The fruit, coffee and bagels were all fresh. We had a pleasant stay and would stay there again.
Was right in town so you could walk around to shops and restaurants. I even walked to the Golden Bough Playhouse where I saw my cousin perform. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the room was just what I would have expected from a Bed & Breakfast. I would go back!
