Breakfast is only available from 8-9:30, even on weekends. It would have been nice it was available on Sunday until 10 or 10:30.

I was shocked to see the empty swimming pool from my window. Not attractive & I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping for a pool. I forgot to check if there was one when I booked the room. The room was pretty comfortable. The bathroom was really small but I made it work. I had a pleasant stay.

Bathroom in Essex room tiny but adequate. Walls thin. Clean, hot shower, thick towels, good continental breakfast, late afternoon sherry a nice touch, outside gardens very nice

We enjoyed our little cottage which had 2 rooms with 2 twins & a king. Plus the living space & kitchen were a nice bonus. The place is quaint but bathroom could use some updating. But everything is clean! Staff is very pleasant. The breakfast is very nice. Just when everyone comes at the same time it can get tight. Only 4 tables available. But overall a nice place and walking distance to town ( 3 blocks) & beach ( about 8 blocks).

Great location for exploring the area. The room was clean and fit our needs perfectly. The breakfast was basically a continental breakfast. The fruit, coffee and bagels were all fresh. We had a pleasant stay and would stay there again.

Was right in town so you could walk around to shops and restaurants. I even walked to the Golden Bough Playhouse where I saw my cousin perform. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the room was just what I would have expected from a Bed & Breakfast. I would go back!

The hotel was charming and clean with friendly staff.

close to everything -by walking very clean- staff was very friendly. Having a Jacuzzi tub after a long day of walking was wonderful . The continental breakfast was a little Spartan and there was really not much room to eat it with the other patrons, but we were offered a tray and we took it to our room. Overall would stay there again -very lovely

The bathroom wasn't very clean, the grout was filthy, there was hair on the floor, which I wouldn't have worried about, but this room was listed as not allowing dogs, so I don't want to think about where all the hair came from. There was a strong and not entirely pleasant odor in the buildings. The furniture was cheap and flimsy. A dresser drawer wouldn't open, and one of the knobs was completely broken off, I assume from previous guests' attempts to open the drawer. The shutters were dirty and inadequate to block the light in the morning. There was a lot of noise from the street. We paid extra for a room with parking included, just to find out that it wasn't guaranteed. We paid $40 more through Orbitz than we would have if we booked through the hotel's website directly. Breakfast was bagels and some not-so-fresh looking fruit. You could ask for yogurt or hard-boiled eggs, but that felt awkward because the staff wasn't very warm and welcoming. It was just weird. The whole thing was just an odd experience. We won't use that hotel again, and won't use their sister property.

Thank you for your review! The pool belongs to the hotel next door. The Briarwood Inn does not have a pool. We are sorry for any inconvenience noticing the empty pool and appreciate that you stayed with us and had a comfortable stay.
