Admittedly, with the great weather and spring breakers, we took one of the last available rooms. I think had we booked earlier, we probably would have had a much better room. As it was, our room, 202, on the lobby/common area, we were pretty much exposed to all noise from comings and goings as well as wine hours/breakfast times. We had to keep the shutter closed at all times and every time we walked out of our room, there would often be people eyeing us as we entered or exited our room. No real big deal but just left us feeling little self conscientious. Everyone working there were wonderful, the breakfast not extensive but more than plentiful and complimentary wine was appreciated. The best thing about Coachman's is the location! Plenty to see and do from there. The walk to the beach is a bit of a walk but a beautiful walk through the neighborhoods is worth the time.
For me ~ it is always about the people ~ how I am treated in the reservation process, how the check-in goes, how Ii am able to interact with all the people doing all the work. EVERYBODY was kind and excellent ~ the rooms are wonderful, even a little fan at the end of the toilet paper (those little touches that you say WOW). There is an included breakfast that is very good ~ a little patio if you get sun ~ and more...you will not be disappointed ~ we have already made reservations to return.
We stayed in room 206 this time. This hotel is generally speaking quiet and peaceful. Hot tub closes at 9 pm, so no outside noise associated with that after 9. No pool on premises, so that is not a noise factor. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay.
We stayed here 2 nights on our California trip in February. This place is great, peaceful, super clean, friendly and cute. They have a happy hour for guests in the afternoon with wine and homemade snacks. Same in the morning they have nice breakfast for guests made there. Always something new with fresh fruit, toast, oatmeal and yogurt. We will definitely stay there if we come back. Manager was very informative and friendly. Thank you it was a wonderful stay.
We recently stayed here for two nights after our wedding to get away for a few days. This little inn was exactly what we needed. The room was really cute, with a nice big bed, some of the SOFTEST sheets and pillows. Seriously so comfortable. We had a room with a fireplace that really warmed the room up! In the morning they have complimentary breakfast, which was really good and fresh. The staff are all very friendly as well. When we asked for recommendations for local wine tasting rooms, they gave us two free tastings at Schneid, which was a lot of fun. I can't forget to mention that they also have freshly baked cookies every afternoon, and they are delicious! Seriously. One of the best cookies I've ever had. The hotel is within walking distance to lots of restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and the beach. Overall a fantastic experience in Carmel and I can't wait to go back!
I recently choose the Coachman's inn in Carmel. I chose the room as it had a nice fireplace, and in the winter months, this is highly desirable in Carmel. Sadly the fireplace had such a meager flame, it was rather pointless. Oh well, at least there was a nice hot Jacuzzi....but sadly it's jet were also so lame that it was a lackluster soak. Then the heat in our room wasn't working. The manager was very nice and brought us a space heater. However, we weren't comfortable leaving it on in the room while we were out for dinner, so our room was cold when we would return home in the evening. I told the manager I was rather unhappy given all the issues, and she replied she couldn't give us a refund since we booked via hotels.com. She never offered a discount on a future stay, so when we were checking out, I told the front desk gal, that I would be happy in they could work something out for a future stay and I would appreciate it if the manager could contact me. Well it's been three days and no one has bothered to reach out to me. As someone who has been in the hospitality profession for the last 15 years, I find this totally inexcusable and certainly not what I would have expected from a Four Sisters Property.
This property is conveniently located to everything in downtown Carmel. It's perfect if you don't have a car, or if you want to walk to everything -- the ocean, shops, restaurants, the Sunset Center. It feels like a hybrid -- a cross between a B/B and a motel. It's compact and practical, with parking on the property. And as at a motel, you're on your own to take your bags to your room. This could be a challenge if you have to walk up to the second floor. The Inn offers some B/B-type personalized touches that compensate for the "motel" like feel -- complimentary baked cookies in the afternoon, wine in the late afternoon, and breakfast. At our morning breakfast a small child just managed to drop her yogurt dish on the floor -- it made a huge mess, and I'm sure the child felt pretty badly about the accident. I was impressed with the way the staff handled the calamity -- it was cleaned up instantaneously, and with a smile. The room we stayed in was comfortable but spartan. The bathroom was small and so it was necessary to put toiletries on the dresser in the bedroom. The comforter and bed pillows seemed a bit worn, and the pillows were a bit past their prime. The downside of this property is that the sound separation between rooms is minimal -- the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors as well as external noise -- the sound of luggage or a cleaning cart being wheeled up and down the corridor. If you're planning to spend your time in Carmel running around, seeing and doing, and not in your room except for sleeping, then this is a comfortable and convenient place to stay. The extra touches -- parking, complimentary cookies, wine and breakfast -- make it a good value for this expensive charming town.
We went through Carmel on Valentine's Day. Many options wanted extremely high premiums for a Tuesday night, albeit, Valentine's Day stay. Coachman's did not jack up their very reasonable rate. The location is perfect. The staff bends over backwards for you. The other guests were so pleasant that we all had a great time at breakfast. Breakfast was adequate and filling, nothing great - I would say, good. The room was comfortable with nice touches like a gas fireplace. Do be warned there is no elevator. If you have difficulties taking your luggage up stairs, request a room on level 2 which is the most convenient. I would recommend this inn to anyone traveling to Carmel!
We were in Carmel for the final day of the Pebble Beach Pro Am. We turned up at the Coachman's Inn and were lucky enough to get one of their last rooms. The Inn is small and charming, and very well decorated. The free canapés and drinks in the evening were a lovely bonus. Great homemade breakfast too! Definitely recommend this place.
We stayed here for one night and booked it last minute. It is in a good location in the town itself and we could walk to restaurants from here. Check-in was efficient and very friendly. there is a cheese and wine reception every afternoon. The room we got was nice enough and had a gas fire. The only downside was that the heater in the room made noise all night - until I got up and turned it off. There is free parking here which is a great plus.
