Great hotel. Nothing more to add.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The location is good, just 2 blocks away from Ocean Ave, the major street of the town. And it's within walking distance to the beach too. However, when we arrived, the door to our room was wide open, and the room was very cold. The phone was broken. We paid for the breakfast inclusive package and was told a breakfast basket would be at the door in the morning. However, until 8:30am, no basket appeared. And no one was in the office either. We tried calling and doorbell for 5 minutes, still no one show up. We returned to our room, still no breakfast. We went back to the office again, called and rang the door bell for several times, finally someone woke up and answered. We got our breakfast basket 10 min later. Apparently, they either forgot our breakfast although we asked about it the night before, or they thought it's too early for breakfast. To avoid this, we had our breakfast basket for the next day delivered in the evening.

Really nicely furnished. Why are you making me write a book here?

To start the customer service at this hotel was the biggest problem. We booked a suite for a special occasion and when we arrived at the hotel they said that all the suites were booked so they put us in a corner unit that was small and dirty(dirty shower, hair in the sink, mildew smell in the room)!!! I showed them my printout that I had paid extra for the suite but they would not make any changes in our room nor would they refund the extra money that we paid for the suite even though we were staying in a regular room. I was past the time to be able to cancel our room so we had no choice but to stay there Carmel is a great romantic town, we had a great time there walking around the town but the dirty room and paying for a suite that we did not get to stay ruined the trip.

Great location, but even with the owners obvious efforts, the property is small, loud and has inadequate parking and no amenities.

The room was good, after upgrade to a suit. I thought I was getting a suit, but when I arrived it was a king size bed onl

walking distance from almost everything. The hotel was okay could have been better.

I paid $145/nt for a king suite. I was given literally a hole in the wall (no. 27) in the back with one small window overlooking a staircase. The wallpaper was peeling in both the bedroom and bathroom. It was so dark I had to leave the door open to get light. It was filthy and dingy. Nails were in the walls where previous things had hung. A child dropped cereal on the hall carpet at 8 am and the mashed up remnants were still there at 9 pm. The trash can outside the room looked like birds had sh---t on it. I went to the manager and he said this company had made a mistake by putting suite on the reservation. Hard to believe! He made absolutely no attempt at rectifying the situation. I was had!! I took lots of pictures on my phone but don't know how to attach them :(. Trust me..they speak a million words.

The room was much nicer than the photos led us to believe. The location was unbeatable.

We mostly walked everywhere and ate delicious food.

Hotel outside was beautiful.. inside hotel room. Looked nice, but carpets were old. Needed updated. Bathroom Was nice except the shower head was perfect for someone 6'2 but not short like 5'6. Wallpaper on walls was pealing off walls. Bed looked nice, but very uncomfortable. Probably will not recommend this place to friends or family. I feel like I was over charged to be unhappy in my rooms. I feel other motels/hotels that are cheaper probably had better rooms.

I have been to Carmel many times, but this was my first time staying in this hotel. For the price, it was terrific. (less than $100/night for weekend nights). The location, right on the edge of downtown, and walking distance to many great restaurants, was probably the best aspect of my stay. No need to fight for a parking spot downtown during a holiday weekend! The room was cute, decorated with antique-style, ornate wood wardrobes and small dinette set. The bed was comfortable enough (I am picky about beds!). The bathroom and shower were nicely appointed. The room was pretty tiny, with tight spaces to maneuver when walking from one end to the other, thus my 3-star rating for room comfort. It was quiet and peaceful; I didn't hear any traffic noises from the street. The "breakfast" was little more than average coffee, OJ, and stale bread and danish, and some oranges, but it's better than nothing. The office and cleaning staff were very friendly and warm. I would definitely stay there again.

Great location; close to shops. Small rooms, up-to-date amenities. For breakfast only coffee, juice or milk, and oatmeal, bagels or rolls.

Very pleasant

Because we were celebrating our anniversary, we decided to stay in a suite. Big mistake. While it contained a small refrigerator, and microwave, these did not compensate for its major flaws. There were two very small closets, both in the living room portion of the suite. There was no table for card playing, dining, etc. There was no dresser in the bedroom, only two drawers in the TV armoire in the living room. There was no counter or storage space in the bathroom. We did not see a regular room, so cannot comment on their ammenities. The ataff was friendly, and tried to be helpful.

The 'Carmel Inn & Suites'is located at a pretty good location, but the hotel rooms are not quite as nice as they appear in the photos. The king size bed is quite comfortable, and the textile fabrics around it are quite nice, but the basic furniture are on the less comfortable side. When we chwcked into the room, the waste paper basket was not emptied, and a bag of McDonald's wrapper were lying next to a small table in the middle of the room, which was turned upside down. The room had no air-conditioning, which, however, was not too bad, as the air cools down quite noticeably at night. However, the pilot light for the gas heater is lit all the time, and makes a constant 'whooshing' noise, which is disturbing, when you are trying to fall asleep.
