We really enjoyed our stay here! It was so nice to have a separate living room area and kitchen. The bathroom layout was a little interesting (you needed to close both bedroom and living room doors for privacy), but overall we really liked the amenities and had a relaxing time (slept well too on the fluffy beds!). I think the only thing that was a bummer was on the second night, there was a family above our room and we could pretty much hear most of their conversation through the floor, but thankfully, no one stayed up too late.
Very welcoming upon arrival. Home made cookies in the lobby. Best parking setup in Carmel. Great location. Room was comfy with great bed. Only issue was that the bathroom separated the living room from the bedroom. So anytime it was being used made it awkward to go through. Felt trapped on either side a couple of times. Just wish that had been clear on the website. They said to call next time we book and they will get us a room we like. We would definitely stay here again.

We paid extra for a room with jet tub. What a disappointment it was to find out that the jet tub stopper was broken. We called a front desk and someone came to fix it. They left without fixing it.
Convenient location to shops, restaurants, and the ocean. Enjoyed having a small kitchen and fireplace. No pool or breakfast, but we didn’t need them. Cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch. Odd bathroom location somewhat inconvenient. Comfortable bed, free parking, and overall great stay.
Manager missing in action after I reported bed bugs . The maintenance staff was helpful and immediately got me relocated . The receptionist was lovely. I don’t understand why management didn’t at least make a phone call to apologize. Terrible attitude . Very disappointed.
This inn was warm, inviting, and relaxing from start to finish. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Our first visit to Carmel was outstanding & perfect thanks to Wayside Inn. The hotel is a great location to shopping, restaurants, & the beach. The hotel staff (Jordan & Emily) were tremendous resources providing priceless service & recommendations. The daily breakfast service is a nice small touch that allows you to start the day off right!
Very nice, clean and fresh, large room and bathroom. We had a room with two double beds. Lots of room. Would have worked well when we travel as a family of four-this time just two of us. Breakfast was tasty and convenient that it was brought to the room. Great location.
We had a lovely room with a corner fireplace that was cozy and comfortable. Breakfasts each day were served in the room and were delicious.
Rooms very small, but comfortable. No air conditioning, so, if the weather is warm, the rooms are are warm. Windows do open, letting cool air in. However, noise from the street, breaks your sleep. Breakfast is quite good good.
The room was modern and comfortable with full conveniences.
The Wayside Inn was a great place to stay while enjoying the lovely town of Carmel and local attractions such as Big Sur and the monterey aquarium. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and very nicely decorated. We were a family of four (all adults) staying in one room with two queen beds, and we were quite comfortable. The room has a small food prep area with a fridge plus a sink and countertop, which came in handy as we like to prepare veggies and fruit and other snacks to carry with us. There is a coffee maker and a toaster in the room as well. Breakfast is simple (fruit, juice, pastries, toast) and is delivered to the room; actually, when you order toast, the bread is sent to the room with butter and jam, and you can toast it yourself. We are fans of freshly made toast and we liked that set-up. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Guests of the Inn receive a discount at many restaurants in Carmel, and we took advantage of that a few times. The location is right in the heart of the town, with shops and restaurants close by. I can't think of anything else we could have asked for!
Great location in Carmel. We were given a huge room with two comfortable queen beds. Nice decor and linens, but it wouldn't take much more effort to make this a nicer hotel. The fan in the bathroom ran constantly and loudly when the light was on, the room was poorly heated with a baseboard radiator and the room never got warmer than 68 degrees. While the room price includes a continental breakfast, the quality of the experience did not support a $250/night room rate. While the staff was very friendly and their service was good, I would return only if the room rate was substantially lower.
We had a very pleasant stay in Downtown Carmel.. Lots of shopping and great restaurants nearby, as well as a beautiful beach in walking distance. Very enjoyable experience.
