Older hotel with nice upgrades but poor insulation. I recommend getting an upper unit with no one above you. Good location and comfy bed and nice updated bathroom.

Our stay was in early fall so we didn't get to use the pool. Check in was easy. The parking spots are a little tight making it a tad difficult if you have a lot to unpack. Room was a great size and the bed was comfy. The window in the bathroom is frosted but it's facing the parking lot so you can see people walking by which was a little weird. Overall, a great place to stay and at a nice location for walking around the city.

The hotel says very specifically that pets are not allowed. Yet the guests next door to our room had a dog with them; its barking woke us up one night. We informed the management. Apparently, the dog checked out. Also, housekeeping continually neglected to bring washcloths to the room. And, on the subject of housekeeping: we actually had to ASK for housekeeping every morning, by 11, or risk not having the room cleaned. Guests should not have to remind hotels to run a vacuum or make a bed. All this said, our room did indeed have a Bay view from the balcony, and for that was worth it. Once.

Truly a gem in Carmel by the Sea! Beautiful place with large rooms, comfy bed, comfy pillows. Nice fireplace in room however no A/C. Even for August, it was OK. We left our window open and the room was quite comfortable. Surprisingly as we cannot sleep well without AC. The staff was above and beyond, from the front desk (thanks Luis) to the breakfast room staff to the housekeeping staff. Helpful and great service. The free breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, bread, bagels, Danish, muffins, yogurt, fruit, juices, cereal and more. Varied each day, fresh and delicious. Nice strong coffee too! Nice heated pool, plenty of free parking on site. Exceptional cleanliness throughout the property. Added bonus, local grocery/deli, Bruno's, right next door including a huge wine selection! Walkable area with plenty of shops, restaurants, pharmacy. Such a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to go back!!

We were in Carmel for a wedding so a lot of family members staying in the hotel as well. The location was fabulous for eating, shopping, the beach, gathering near the pool to discuss the days adventures. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Great location, very tastefully decorated property

We checked in on Sunday afternoon which was the last day of the very big annual "Car Week" events on the peninsula. This meant alot of very cool - and some very "throaty", powerful cars on the roads, including Junipero St right in front of the hotel. But by Monday & Tues the noise of cars passing by out front reving their engines had for the most part passed. Not a big deal for us, we only overlapped this cacophopny by a day during out stay. The location is great - especially the WONDERFUL deli market "Bruno's" right next door. Great wine selection at market (vs restaurant) prices, so we shared a bottle of our favorite wine in our room or by the pool every night, before walking to dinner, so we only had to buy one glass each at restaurant prices ($13 - $20 per glass). EVERYTHING in Carmer is within easy walking distance, even the beach. And I used the pool all 3 days we were there, to cool off in the afternoon and read my book. The rooms have great mattresses, first class fixtures (new windows, shutters, bath fixtures), all very classy & cozy. Even a gas fireplace! (No air conditioning, but we left the windows open at all times, even when we were out each day, and locked valuables in our car. You never need to move your car while in Carmel, staying this close to everything. We actually needed to use the fireplace each morning, in August, because it gets so cool ovenight. Don't miss the free breakfast each morning...it will save you at least $30 for two, vs eating out!!
