We arrived to the property at 3:15 for check-in and walked into the office to see a sign saying they will be right back. Waited a few minutes before flagging down housekeeping to come to find out that office staff left the premises during check-in hours. We waited for them to return, and that took 45 min. When the man arrived he offered no explanation so myself and the other guests waiting questioned why we had to wait. The male staff gaslighted his guests saying that we where late and he had to leave. He was very condescending, not apologetic or had any customers service etiquette. The male staff treated the next guest checking in even worse questioning him and not holding himself accountable for the bad service. When we finally received our room, we walked into an unlocked open room, dirty and not ready. This added to the frustration and we had to go back to the front desk. The male staff still remained unbothered and without wanting to make things right. This added another 30 minutes to our check-in. The male staff’s attitude and bad demeanor made us not feel safe staying with our children. We asked for an early checkout the next day and a refund to which a different staff member verbally agreed to, but then the property declined the refund through Expedia. We will never book thru Best Western Inn and never recommend the Inn & Suites in Pacific Grove.

So this property is unusual. My guess is that it used to be a condo or apartment complex and was turned into a hotel. Rooms are set up unusual, but still okay. Our problem we had was we couldn’t get the heating to work. However after a couple calls to the office, they came and checked it out, to no avail, but they did bring an oscillating heater and blanket to us, which made it comfortable for the night. So we did appreciate that. Breakfast was pretty limited: yogurt, cold cereal, apples, bread, and waffles. Juice and coffee, but at least something was available.

It’s the perfect getaway near beautiful spots in Pacific Grove. The location is ideal since it’s between Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea where endless sceneries of nature and water will make your stay more memorable and relaxing. Not to mention, the 17 Mile Drive is just minutes away, as well as the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary and a historic lighthouse located nearby. It’s truly a highly recommended place.

We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! The room was spotless with a big, cozy bed, and we loved having a balcony to relax on. The location was perfect—close to walking trails and great restaurants. We even spotted several deer wandering around the property, which was such a charming surprise!

I chose this place as my partner and I wanted peace and quiet away from the main areas of Monterey, and it was absolutely perfect! Enormous and very clean room, comfy bed, spacious bathroom and area with microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. The balcony was very nice to have as well. We could only stay one night but this is definitely on our agenda for a longer stay next time.
