Milan Marriott Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Had occasion to travel to Milan on business. Welcome and check-in very good - despite minimal Italian from my side. Room comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast really good, buffet lunch reasonable - did not dine at the hotel. Concierge on point with assistance where required. For EU Hotel - price fair.
We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the beautiful furnishings and interiors. The staff was cordial and kind, and the navigator was very knowledgeable. He helped us easily connect to the Metro train and directed us to convenient shopping districts. A great hotel for quiet walks in the neighborhood yet convenient to local restaurants and shopping.
I stayed 6 nights for work on my first trip to Milan. The lobby shows well when you enter the hotel along with the flowers at the beginning of the long red carpet. The front desk, staff, bellmen, and concierge were all very attentive and helpful. The first night I was upgraded to suite on the 7th floor with sitting area and balcony. The rest I was on the 5th but still with access to the executive lounge on the 7th. The hotel decor is old world. So you can position it as vintage or antique even the the condition may show age. The room was really just average. From the bed comfort to the furnishings to the bathroom. The couch I had in the 5th floor room was not comfortable and the cushion was well past it's expiration date. We used several conference rooms which served their purpose but looked a bit tired. The AV help during the week was great. I didn't eat at the restaurant but many others said it was average. However the catered food was good. I used the lounge for breakfast most mornings and it is rather small. Maybe just 6 tables and TV on the wall. I just have cereal for breakfast so it was fine for me. The restaurant offers bacon, potatoes, additional egg options versus the lounge which does have scrambled eggs. I used the fitness center a few times. The cardio equipment was fine but the multi purpose weight machine was quite awkward. The leg portion was disconnected and the upper body was difficult to use. I'm 6 foot 4 and the left deck usage was high even for me. The handles for the bench press was so far back I couldn't see how you could reasonably get started without contorting your body in an odd manner. And then when finished you have to let go of the handles and they slam back 6-9 inches to the start position. I saw someone else attempt to use it with no success. The location was good. About a half mile from the Wagner metro station which is 5 stops from Duomo. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The price was good for the rooms but it just seemed to be tired and in need of a refresh as the comfort level just wasn't there so I have to honestly rate it as average.
We visit Milan about twice a year and this is our second stay at this Marriott. The location is great and central to everything we need. We have flown out of both Linate and MXP and this is convenient for both. This trip we needed to leave at 4am and they were very helpful with getting us a cab and even paying with a credit card! The staff is always welcoming and friendly and the hotel itself is clean and rooms are a nice size for inside the city. I've never eaten in the restaurant but we watched the Juventus/Madrid game at the bar and it was perfect. We'll be staying here again for future visits to Milan!
The Hotel is nice, clean and comfortable. There is no free wifi. The breakfast is very diverse and the overall tasty. The decoration is heavy and the air feels stale and dusty. The overall experience wasn't special and no special amenities. I would stay again if the price is right.
The hotel le just amazing, nice location close to the metro (10minutes walking) direct to reach the Duomo in 6 stops, and we have been to Navigli by walk to. The room is very comfortable and we had cocktails at the bar: awesome! Breakfast buffet was also good. But the main positive point is the staff, everybody was so kind with us. We had great moments here.
The third stop was Milan, and we ended up staying at Marriott hotel near the city center. We were debating whether to try AC hotel or Marriott and ended up at Marriott. The expectation was not high as other reviews all point out that it is an average hotel and with that expectation set, here is my review. Location: From Milan RR station, it was only 15-minute taxi ride (about €18) so that was a relieve and Metro station from the hotel was a short 10-15 minute walk so no complaints where it is located. It was mostly about getting some rest and breakfast in the morning before going out for day’s activity. Hotel: The entrance was well designed and separated from the street. With a long red carpet to the door, it feels like you are checking into the 5-star hotel. Inside the lobby and concierge, all look just fine until you look close. Room: The room was a complimentary upgrade to a larger executive type of room but somewhat strange bed configuration. It had one king and one single bed, so it looks like it was designed for a child traveling with parents. Room is showing its age and it really needs to freshen up with modern decoration soon. The bathroom is about the same as the room as it needs an update. This hotel has an executive lounge, but it is more of a guest room that was converted to a lounge and hardly anyone there. We just went to look, grabbed soda and left in five minutes. A worst lounge ever experienced at Marriott so far. Restaurant: Breakfast buffet was not great, but I have seen it a lot worse. If it is included in the room price, grab breakfast. If not, there are better choices outside of the hotel. Overall Impression: Since Marriott did not have a strong presence in Milan, it is what it is for hotel selections, There are other fine hotels but not Marriott chain which was an unfortunate situation for royalist like us. Not much of complaint or compliment to give about this Marriott. If we return to Milan, most certainly we would stay at AC hotel or another hotel brand as it desperately needs a refresh
This is old fashioned classic hotel, vintage style. Its good for groups and conventions and meeting. If you travel and need the city center I wouldn't recommend it because transportation in Milan is expensive and better take mid city center location. In general the room was OK, air conditioning didn't work good, it has a safe that needs Doctor degree to operate so many guys calling the reception to operate it. The service is good and breakfast was OK too.
The hotel is dated like others have mentioned and does desperately needs a renovation. I am Marriott elite gold so I've stayed at many properties world wide. The room is average but the bed is really soft and not firm. The temperature control in the world cannot be read so one cannot adjust. The lounge is closed on the weekends for breakfast-something that wasn't communicated at check in. The wait staff in the restaurant are ok but seem to only be able to handle one task at a time as they get flustered. My BIGGEST complaint about this hotel is the wall of smokers who hang at the hotel entrance. Entering or departing you have to walk through it. It's very disgusting. I know this is Italy and practically everyone here smokes. However I don't need to walk through smoke to enter or leave the hotel. The hotel needs to move the ash trays to be on side of the entrance instead right at the entrance. Next time I will stay at the AC which is closer to central Milan. I stayed here because of the free breakfast which AC does not offer.
Very nice facility, classic appointments throughout. The staff was very friendly and helpful (unlike most hospitality "professionals" found in Italy). Full service Marriott where Platinum members are rewarded for their loyalty (complimentary breakfast, executive lounge access, room upgrade and late check-out); a rare experience for loyal members. This would have been a 5-star rating, but the AC didn't really work in our room... they simply need to upgrade their HVAC system... the staff was genuinely courteous and helpful though offering to send up a fan. Overall a very nice experience, will likely return. Not necessarily close to the city center, but a quick 10 minute taxi ride.
