Milan Marriott Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed at this hotel 7 nights mid March 2018 No assistance at all with luggage when arriving hotel also after check in going to room. Small tiny basic room need to take out a table to be able to open two medium size suitcases. no coffee machine in room. Need to lay down on floor to open/close safe. Dull under every standard lounge. (Appearance and food) No attention at all to Elite members needs/requests. (I`m Platinum) This is not a Marriott and not a 5 stars hotel. Maximum rate is low level 3 stars hotel. Not recommended to Marriott rewards members the only compensation was Milan town with its Art, History, Culture and excellent weather during our stay. .
A Marriott is almost always a sure bet, and this hotel met that goal! A fine breakfast capped off a restful night's sleep . The hotel is located where it can be easily reached and is in a safe area. I would definitely stay here again!
Unfortunately we had a poor experience at this particular Marriott Hotel in Milan. Lost a few precious items during our stay although the lounge staff and concierge service staff during our stay were very gracious and helpful. They need to improve their front desk and house keeping staff service.
I stay over 150 nights in Marriott hotels worldwide per year ....so I have a pretty good basis for comparison. Basically, the hotel looks and feels like a Soviet hotel built during the Brezhnev era in the 1970’s. The rooms are small and very warm (I was told it was too early in the year for air conditioning?). It was hard to breathe in the room let alone sleep. It looked as if the hotel hadn’t been maintained or updated since Putin took office. In one word ....terrible.
I stay in hotels over 60 nights in a year and this was by far the worse one I stayed in the last couple of years. The hotel was very old, carpets in the hallway didn't smell good. the executive lounge was below any hotel standard in term of cleanliness food/drinks offering. The only thing I say is that the hotel staff were very friendly and tried but the overall experience was very disappointing. Not something I would expect from a Marriott chain
website says has AC, but only when they think it is summer. Got to room 3 days ago to find it stuffy VERY HOT.. told to open a window!!!!!!!!!! And was in a SUITE!!! or what they called a suite... 25 minutes to check in.. very poor trained staff that had no interest in job it seemed... not rude, just very incompetent. Had four rooms booked... had sent names of those in rooms in advance, Had passports in hand for 4 persons.. two, with pictures of grey hair over 70 people with same last name.. , and two very different singles.. had 3 rooms.left to check in, after she figured out suite was for my wife and I after I told her several times,a nd had sent confirming email a week prior... . one for two, and 2 singles.. wanted to know which 2 were in the double room...?? I have been a marriott Platinum for over 30 years... travel worldwide,a nd this was the WORST check in experience I have ever had.. will not go back if was free... Did I mention I was unhappy???
When I arrived it was complete chaos, a conference just finished & a bus lots of guests had arrived. Took time for reception to clear & finally get checked in. Rooms were small & felt old, but are inline with other, older format, Marriott hotels in US I've stayed at. No international adapters in room, A/C was on or off & couldn't adjust unless opened window. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to write home about. Overall everything was ok, but certainly nothing above that. By no means terrible, but equally wasn't outstanding.
I have stayed at so many hotels, I would say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The receptionist ruined it all, she was extremely unfriendly, intimidating, she asked inappropriate questions and very rude - It seems she did not like international travellers. The location was inconvenient and the rooms were quite old, our air-conditioning barely worked and the room had a smell. I will be coming back to Milan but will never consider this hotel again! I'm quite surprised it is a 5 star hotel.
This is a bit old hotel with even older rooms. The price however reflects the status the hotel. I stay in this hotel one or twice a year with family on my way to vacations in Italy to stay one or two nights in Milan on our way to and back from vacations. The hotel has a reasonably priced parking for those with car. The breakfast is very good and well above the average of what you find on Italian hotels in Milan. Rooms are too small, so for a family of 4 (parents with two children) you need two rooms which is what we usually do, as the room rates are OK.
I will begin with I love Marriott hotels. I typically stay at a Marriott or Hilton. Although I did recently stay at the Majestic in Bologna, just before my arrival here. Please reference my trip advisor link for the Grand Bologna Majestic. OK so I stayed in the Executive rooms with access to the executive lounge on the 7th floor. Whilst, the service was very good, they only have beer and wine. We were led to believe by the staff that the restaurant was very good. Well, that simply wasnt true... We ordered the Rib Steak, recommended by the bar tender, it was a special feature, and not on the menu. While it was cooked to medium rare perfection, the actually cut of meat was the toughest and worst I can remember consuming. I mean terrible even for Billy Bubbas fresh kill shack in the bayous of Louisiana. Then, today a I write this, I have just finishes ordering what I thought was the safest thing a human being can order anywhere. The Holy Grail of safe foods, the Club Sandwich.... Oh yeah, they managed to screw that up too. I mean in order to FK up a club sandwich, you have to be trying. Tomatoes, cut so thick it occupied the entire sandwich, and hell don't worry about putting any bacon in it. The bread literally fell apart once touched, sooooo I pretty much ate a tomatoe salad with croutons, via knife and fork. See my Trip Advisor review foe the Majestic. Now that is a true 5 star hotel, service and restaurant. In Milan stay at the Mandarin for $$$$ or Chateau Monfort, the same price as the Marriott.
