We stayed at 5 hotels in and around Milan in 7 days, so I do have a point of reference here. The Hotel Canada falls to the bottom of our list and this is why: NOISE - we were on a high floor right on the Via Santa Sofia and the car alarms, ambulances and general street noise kept us awake both nights were were there. Add to that, the painters who were clomping outside our room one morning at 7am dumping their stuff for a job and the cleaners who start wheeling their carts and chatting in the hallways early in the morning - you wanted to scream! BREAKFAST - Every hotel we stayed at on our trip had a lovely breakfast, except for this one. Situated in a sad basement, the food looked tired and recycled. ROOM - Our room at the Hotel Canada was not the smallest we had on our trip, but the most uninspiring. The shower was TINY and water leaked out all over the floor. No space for your bags or to walk around the bed. I never wanted to be in our room. In addition, we are up early and out on the town people. By late afternoon, we do like to come back, put our feet up, shower and get ready for the evening. Our room had not been cleaned after our first day in Milan and we had to sit in the lobby and wait until it was done. SMELL - The disinfectant used to clean is so overpowering, within 10 minutes of checking into our room, my eyes were burning and I had a huge headache. We had to request that it not be used in our room, but it is used all over the hotel. LOCATION - Yes, it is only a short walk to the Duomo and the sites, but this neighborhood is weird. Few places to walk to for a nice coffee or a quick bite.
Spent a night in this hotel. When I arrived and saw it from the outside i got a bit scared because from the outside it doesnt really say "good hotel", but once y I stepped through the door and the employee welcomed me with a warm smile, my fears went away. Super staff! The room itself was clean, big and comfortable with a big spacious bathroom. It is a 10mins walking distance from the Duomo Plazza and Milan's centre. Extremly recommended.
We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Prices were reasonable, rooms were clean and cozy, the beds were just right (not too soft or too firm) offering a good nights sleep. There was plenty of hot water in the shower. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with good coffee. Front desk service for tourist visitors was friendly, patient and courteous. If there was any failings it was that the front desk clerks were so patient with customers, both direct and over the phone, that a line formed waiting to get service.
Our visit to Hotel Canada was a very pleasant experience and we will return next time we visit Milan. The reception staff especially Ludovico and Alessandra were attentive, thoughtful and cheerful. Manazes and Andrea provided a delicious breakfast each day with a smile. All of this contributed to our enjoyment of the hotel and the city.
The hotel is well located. Very close to the Duomo by foot. There is also a metro station close (more or less 700m). The staff is very nice and helpfull. The breakfast is ok,with some variations (bread, eggs, cakes, fruit, cereals, etc)
The team was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, although quite small. Breakfast was reach and fresh. The location is excellent, less than ten minutes from the Duomo. The car parking is adjacent to the hotel and accessible.
The welcoming was fine but don't be sure that you can sleep until 9AM for example! the cleaners come so early and do a lot of noise in the rooms next to you so ... The breakfast is not that good for the price of the room
This hotel is located within walking distance to the cathedral. Reception area is small and has old world charm. The staff are efficient and helpful. The rooms are modern and an adequate size, not large by any means. Bathroom was a decent size. The room is clean. Our booking included fresh fruits and some soda pop and juices. This was a nice plus. The included breakfast was good. For the prices of hotels in Milan this was a great value.
Clean hotel in a good location close to the centre of Milan. Reception area is a little dated and could do with an upgrade but the rooms are modern. Breakfast was not the best served in a small room in the basement. Milan is a expensive city and to get a hotel for a reasonable price close to the centre is hard, but with the Canada Hotel you can have this.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my siblings and my father on his 70th Birthday. We booked this hotel because of the good walking distance to the Duomo Cathedral and the Naviglio area, and the price. The hotel and room was clean and the service nice. The building is old so the elevators and the breakfast area was very small. Good breakfast, but unfortunately the hotel only can handle approx 20 guest at the same time so me and my family could not eat breakfast together. We had an early flight on Sunday, and unfortunately they could not give us any breakfast ”doggie bag” either. We got what we expected for the price we paid (beside the above)
