Needed a clean and inexpensive room for one night near the airport and that's what I got. Only downside to the hotel is that there is no bar. However, across the parking lot is a Courtyard by Marriott with a bar! Problem solved.
I read some of the previous reviews and picked this location. The locations : I was a little hard to find since it was behind a a few store and restaurants. There is plenty of parking with a courtyard next door. There are a few restaurants walking distance. The room: When I walked in, the room had a strong smell of a cleaning product. Not sure if it was because the sun was making the room warm or it was just cleaned and the air had not moved around. The beds were nice and soft. I always get a double room because I like to have lots of pillows when I sleep. The rooms are just like all other Marriott rooms. It was comfortable and I got a good sleep. The only issue I had was that the WiFi was down. Since I only stayed one night is was not a big deal. The breakfast was good. Overall, it was a very nice stay and I will stay again when I come to visit.
The rooms are nice and clean. It was nice and quiet. Breakfast Service and Front desk folks were courteous. I like the place. Good for family. Close to everything. The check-In gal need to follow the procedure of asking "Points or gift" for Marriott Gold/Platinum members but its not a deal breaker.
Took my dad to McAllen for family reasons and being a fan of Marriott family hotels I chose to stay here with it being close to the airport and the other destinations we needed to visit. I had oxygen materials and a wheelchair delivered and they were waiting for us and brought up to our room as soon as I asked. I am sorry that I didn't get the maintenance man's name, but he was so helpful when our toilet wouldn't quit running and then setting up the handicap chair in the shower then picking up our equipment just before we left. One hint I'd give them is that the handicap rooms should all be on the first floor (ours was on the second). Desk staff were very helpful and friendly our entire stay and kept an eye out for dad is they saw him without me. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and if I am ever back in the area, I will stay here again, and at only $76 a night (during our stay dates) it was well worth it!!
If you are a Marriott kind of person then the Fairfield is for you... Fresh updates of their rooms and more than fair pricing.. Juan while checking me in was more than accommodating... He went out of his way to see I was taken care of...
I go regularly to McAllen and this is definitely the most confortable option, although it is a little old, the service is fast and good. Breakfast is not bad (is not good though), but I definitely keep using Fairfield for my one day stays.
Good hotel - clean, quiet, polite personnel. Breakfast is pretty good too. Saw many families and business people in this hotel. Stayed one night, arrived at 10 pm, left at 8 am. Clean shower and bed. Bed was very comfortable.
This hotel has great location with restaurants and shopping much is even within short walking distance. Very clean and safe hotel. I would recommend this Marriott property to anyone travelling to the area. The only negative is the beds are a little hard, but I like soft beds
Stayed overnight on a weekend this January. The place is clean and comfortable. The only minus was that the breakfast lounge was being remodeled and there was no notice of that on the website or anywhere else. We found out on check-in and had to walk for breakfast to the Courtyard next door, where our complimentary breakfast was being served in the meeting room. It was a well organized solution, but was still a bit ticked off that we had no previous notice.
I am a Marriott Platinum member. I have been a Marriott Customer for a while and this is my preferred chain over all any where in the world I travel, from the US to Europe and Asia. This time I was totally disappointed: - tried and early check-in, and I know it is not guaranteed, the attitude of the front desk was bad. "Check-in is at 3, come back later", I asked about at what time would it be available, "come back at 3". Can you ask, I say. "I took a note and I will ask later". - I was not welcomed as usual with "Thank you for being a Marriott Platinum" and I usually get a complimentary bottle of water. - Rooms were smelling weird. - Toilet in my room was broken, had to call maintenance twice. the second time the guy said. "Wait to the guy in the next shift and explain it all over again" And this is just part of the experience here. And I was there just one night!!!
