Rented a junior suite. They had to move us on the second day because a water pipe had broken below our bathroom and they had to rip up floor. Next room was the same as the first but had a distinct odor of either natural gas or sewer gas in the kitchen. Had to leave the patio door open for the entire 3 weeks we were there. They looked at it and said it was fixed but it wasn't. Finally the maid put baking soda below the sink and stove top, but it did not help.

location is a big asset for this hotel;...beach front, restaurants, bars and shopping

Close to shopping and clubs and views of two little "islands" from the room.

The staff was rude, did not welcome us and looked at us like we were idiots. The room cockroaches. And someone I'm the hotel made a threaten call to our room asking us not to leave the room, asking us if we had money or something of value and we denied cooperation they were going to shoot us.

the hotel is very clean staff is very nice the pool could be heat but i went swimming every day its in a very good location easy to shop good food all around no loud music at night not a place for young party goers we had a wounder full three week holiday Larry and Irma

It is over priced for what you get, the sink in the bathroom was half plugged, it is a 50 to 60 dollar room not 98 what we paid

This is a great location but they just let the maintainance go. Not friendly and not very clean. The whole 3 weeks that we were there they never sweep or swabbed the tile area around the pool nor did they clean the poolside tables and chairs. The first room they tried to check us into was terrible. We complained and got the room that we had paid for. Good location but no atmosphere.

The room we were given when we 1st got there was basically uninhabitable. The windows didn't close ad the patio door was the same. The wind howled through the doors and windows so bad that the drapes which were unlined blew from the wind. The dresser was an old wooden dresser and the drawers did not work. The frig was caked with frost build up and didn't keep stuff cold. The tile on the walls looked like a kid put it on and was not grouted. The bathroom was disgusting. The beds were so hard you could not rest on them and the room was so noisy you couldn't sleep anyway. had to buy bug spray to kill all the bug and ants crawling around. The next room cost $30 per night more and although was up graded and cleaner it was still noisy. You could hear people talking in rooms on both sides. The beds were better and so was the frig and this one had a microwave. The hotel staff was unfriendly with the exception of the front desk. The bell boys wouldn't even acknowledge we were there. The hotel staff let people that didn't even stay there lay out by the pool and use up lounge chairs intended for guests. They also even reserved lounge chairs for people not staying at the hotel. Many of these people came packing a backpack loaded with their own towels along with food and drink. Some of the guests would use 3 tables with umbrella's and up to 6 lounge chairs in different locations around the pool to get sun or shade whenever they wanted either. They have two pools and neither is heated so it was to cold to swim. The ocean was warmer than the pool. Had food once from the restaurant and to be safe I had chicken strips that I was unable to eat. The fries were ok but anyone can make a french fry No tv news channels in english. They did have some movies in english with spanish subtitles. In general the hotel is in dire need of upgrading inside and out. Over all this was a really bad experience. I felt like I was treated like an unwanted guest for all 28 days I was there. I would have booked this hotel directly I would have demanded my money back the 1st night.

I really enjoy staying at this hotel cause the staff are so helpful and the location is perfect. The restaurants I like are within walking distance and there is plenty of entertainment.

The Las Flores is older so the rooms have not been updated. The bed was very very hard until I asked for and received immediately a foamy for the bed. The staff are very helpful and nice, especially the waiters at the pool area...unbelievably friendly and efficient. The hotel is very clean and the location of this hotel could not get any better. We will stay there again.

One could argue there are "nicer" hotels, but the location of this hotel is great on both the beach and the street. All the staff were really friendly, the room was awesome, and the restaurant downstairs has great chiliquiles (sp?) for breakfast, at outdoor tables sitting right next to the beach. What more could you want? If we go back to Mazatlan, we will stay here again.

At first we were impressed with the motel. Unfortunately that was short lived. We had a great view, but at night the lights from the next door room lit up our room as the curtains did not cover the whole window. The curtain were also just white curtains so it did not black out any light. We also had very thin walls, which was not a problem until night three when we had a party next door. They also were smoking and we had smoke in our room from the vents. We did complain and the front desk just wanted us to be moved. We declined as it was late and would have taken too long to move. We also had constant noise from the people on the beach, morning, noon, and all night. 6am we would still have people outside yelling and carrying on. We did not sleep well the whole time we were there. The motel did have a very good restaurant and a good happy hour. We will not stay there again, but may visit the restaurant.

We made a reservation on short notice as we needed a place to stay for the night. This hotel was a good find with a good location for the evening. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The view of the beach was nice.

I would give them a great review but, we booked and paid for a certain room type and they tried to put up in a less room, no balcony, no ocean view as we paid for. We went back to front desk as soon as we looked at the room and were told there were no other rooms available until Monday (this was Saturday). We were able to move on Monday but feel that if we had not complained, they would have been happy to leave us in that room for our entire 4 weeks. They offered no apology at all. We had booked this trip 7 months in advance and were quite disappointed. We would stay in this hotel again if we were guaranteed to get the room we paid for, upon check-in. I am already addressing this issue with the vacation package provider and hope to get a resolution.

The hotel has a lot going for it. The beach is wonderful as is the view. The restaurant is nice with good food and great service. There is a very nice pool area, as well. Plus, everything is very clean and wifi is free. There is however, a "but". The first room we were in had a rock hard bed. After I checked with the desk three times, we did get a foam for the mattress, which helped a bit. Another problem was the street noise, which was very bad indeed. Also, there was a mariachi band that played next door most of the night on Sat night. Fortunately we we able to be moved to an upgraded room, which was lovely and much quieter. It had a better bed, the kitchen was nicely equipped and we had the same amazing view from our deck. The price was not bad, so overall, we we content there. There are great restaurants in the area. Lulu's is wonderful, Margaritas was very good as was Pancho's. And the Panama is great. We would also recommend the Fish Market, the Three Amigos, The Bruja and Roy's. Meals are a little more expensive than they used to be in the area, but still very reasonable by ANY resort standard. Did we think safety was an issuer? Not at all. The people are warm friendly and certainly in need of tourism. We've been to Mazatlan many times and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Would we recommend this hotel to others? It depends on what people want. It has the deck and the view and pretty good amenities. We won't stay there again because of the noise, even in the upgraded room.

I have traveled to many different locations in Mexico for the past twenty years; this was my first trip to Mazatlan. The topography is quite beautiful. Las Flores offers stunning views of the Pacific ocean, the beach is clean and the sunsets are breath taking. I rented a Ocean view studio for the week. The decor was very basic and outdated. Satellite tv was very fuzzy with poor size and picture quality. If you need internet access, be prepared to go down to the lobby, and even there it is slow and often times disconnects; keep in mind if you are on the 11th floor this is quite problematic with only one elevator working properly. Beds and pillows are horribly uncomfortable. Be prepared to spend $8.00 for a margarita; the most expensive I have ever paid in twenty years of traveling to Mexico. If you want to pay 5 star prices for great views, this hotel is for you; I on the other hand will not return.

this hotel is right on the beach with stunning views of the beautiful coastline. plenty of eateries in the area. hotel makes terrific pina coladas! close to everthing you need including restaurants and casino.

We have stayed at Las Flores at least 8 times and have always enjoyed our visit. The staff is attentive and personal, seem to want your visit to be perfect. Our room was comfortable and well appointed -- except the two beds were full sized and very very firm. It would be much appreciated to have the option for a king size bed with a comfortable (i.e., SOFTER) mattress. Our shower only delivered lukewarm water for the first two days, but the requests to improve the hot water resulted in an entire 10 days of pleanty of hot water with great water pressure. We were in Mazatlan March 9 to 21, 2011 -- it was really depressing to see the very empty beaches and restaurants. It was so sad to see the beach vendors looking to make a sale to anyone, but there was no one there to sell to... There was also a higher police/military presence and a notable increase in graffiti and closed businesses. It was not the Mazatlan we've visited in the past. Though we did not feel endagnered or threatened in any way, it will be a while before (if) we visit Mazatlan again (and I say that with a heavy heart). For future visitors, the ocean front suite at Las Flores is a great option for families wanting a little privacy for spearation of sleeping and living spaces. We were there when the earthquake hit Japan but found limited access to English speaking news sources via television or radio. A USA Today newspaper was about $4.50 per day-old edition at the local vendor. Plan to bring a lap top or note book computer if you wish to stay in contact with current events or people at home. However, our internet connection was difficult to obtain and less than reliable when finally established. We ended up paying a few dollars for 30 minutes on a land-line computer to complete 'necessary' communications. NOT an ideal location for an internet-dependant working vacation. Wish you all the best on your travels.

Not a pleasant stay, unfriendly staff, charged for an upgrade for standard features that you would normally find in a hotel. Internet did not work very well. The food in the restaurant was bad, better off eating at one of the many local places nearby. The only nice thing about the hotel is its proximity to the beach.

Las Flores is like a .5 star hotel in the US ratings. The beds are hard, VERY hard, kitchenette cupboard doors don't shut (or match), but they do have ANTS. First room we had, the sliding door to the tiny balcony didn't lock, the second room, had a door - it did lock, but had a nice gap at the top and bottom. The window was held in tight with a match book. There was an awlful sewer smell that would come up through the drain in the morning. And the elevators were very slow. When it would finally arrive, you generally went up before you went down, stopping at each floor along the way. The employees weren't all that friendly, but travelers there were super! It is a great location, and nice beach - but the hotel is not the greatests. Would not stay again unless huge improvements have been made.
