ibis Sydney Darling Harbour

Probably 3.5 stars.

Great location close to Darling Harbour, walk through shopping centre to get to conversion centre. Small rooms, tiny beds but big TV. Breakfast good. Staff friendly. Room smelt a bit iffy.

The Branksome Hotel And Residences

A real gem!

This nearly new hotel turned out to be the very best value of several great hotels we booked while visiting Australia. The biggest appeal initially was that it was close to Sydney airport and was very inexpensive compared to other hotels nearby. Once there, our jaws dropped when we saw all that the designers packed into this little apartment! There was lots of storage everywhere with plenty of hooks both by the main door and in the bathroom, including multiple towel racks and even a retractable clothesline! My biggest complaint about most hotel rooms is not enough hooks or racks to hang up stuff, so this was quite refreshing! We used the washer and dryer, which worked great. They have a tablet in the room with all of the answers to about any question you might ask while staying there, including manuals for all appliances, info about the hotel shuttle, etc. This was the only hotel where they supplied paper towels in the kitchen! Sometimes it's the little things that leave a big impression. Everything was spotlessly clean. Comfy bed and sofa, nice grounds and beautiful pool. Great food in the restaurant with very beautiful presentation. Dinner menu seems to have an Asian focus. We came late to breakfast on our first morning, so missed the breakfast buffet, but they still accommodated us with an alacarte menu and the food was delicious. We would definitely stay here again!

Meriton Suites Campbell Street

Make sure you get the advertised room quality

After they gave us a lower floor room that was not like the advertised one, they went out of their way to make up for it. So, I have to give them full credit for it. We have had this issue with other properties too where there is a significant discrepancy between the advertised room that you rent and what you actually get. Orbitz/Expedia is aware of this but does not seem to want to do anything about it.
