A satisfactory place to stay. Right on a beach with no waves. Perfect for paddle boarding. The pool is nice. The beds are rock hard. The air conditioning is barely adequate. The breakfast consists of scrambled eggs with bits of ham, or Some type of chiles, refried beans, corn chips, tang or some kind of imitation OJ, and coffee. Breakfast is served from 7 am to 11 am. A short walk into old town, or the container port in the other direction. The fancy tourist area is too far to walk.
Pros: cheap Cons: rock hard bed, hard to access due to ongoing construction, poor neighborhood, no internet in our room, no towels without going to the desk (then got only 2 frayed towels), air conditioning remote had labels on buttons wore off, We were planning on 4 days but left the next morning. Pass this one.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Nice clean, modern room. Good breakfast. Nice pool. OUTSTANDING STAFF. On the beach. It is a bit of a walk to the downtown area - about 30 minutes. Good value. Con: hard bed. Feb 2016
For being Manzanillo, a tourist expensive destination, Zar Manzanillo is a good choice, budget, good for your money. It's in San Pedrito, an ok beach but hotel is clean and nice. They can do some improvement on their showers on the rooms.
This hotel is what I would refer to a mexica boutique hotel, modern design with bright colors oocation is not for a vacationing family in the sense that it is situated in the downtown of a port city, even though a beach is across a walking path the beach is small and frequented by locals due to its proximity to town. Though ev e'ery beach in Mexico is a public place previous reviewers find this a nuissance which is not. I spent 8 days here for work, the hotel has a very nice staff always helpfull and the maid service is excellent. The rooms are simple with plasma tv the beds are as hard as rock so that would be the only real negative issue here. The pool is clean and has an auto filtration service and daily maintained, however its best to jump in for a swim. There are no currents or waves to speak of due to the port entry nearby this same reason could attrack a bit more floating debris than an open beach. The convenience of old manzanillo 5 mins walking distance from the hotel provides convenient local restaurants and shopping at local pricing, as to the train its a slow speed container train that enters and leaves the port 5 times a day and at night will announce itself witha short horn burst, no biggie. Some rooms have patios protected from outside views with lounge chairs for sunbathing. The hotel could use fresh paaint I n some outside areas and in some parts of tthe room. There is construction of a ramp in front of the hotel aand that could go on another year if you dont have a car aand dont work in the area it could take 20mins to reach the new center and tourist restaurants and main beaches as you have to go all the way around the harbor. Manzanillo is a port city and has some nice tourist spots this is not cancun or puerto vallarta, this is a quiet town and well equipped for anything if you liked Mx 20yrs ago and dont feel like you are in a tourist trap. Good golf, tennis and beach activities abound. If you want to enjoy aa nice little town without breaking the budget this is a great spot. The Barcelo, the camino real, las hadas are your luxury hotels in the area. Enjoy.
My friends and I stayed for 1 night in transit. We booked online and ended up having to pay more when checking in for more people when online it simply said per room. No clean towels and the shower/bath clogged up after only two people using it. Good view of the beach and a pool on a positive note. Staff were helpful with directions. Includes breakfast is toast and jam.
Hotel is average at best. The bathroom toilet seat doesn't stay up. Hardly flushes. Shower looks cool but the doors are lame and goes off track. The room is spacious and has bright colors. Front desk guy quoted us 540 pesos or 41 dollars. He leaves and another lady comes to book our room. It changes to 45 dollars. Nice bait and switch. Beaches are average. This is a port city. Crap water and pollution. Was passing through here for one day. Will never return here at this hotel or this place.
1st of all no towels at the bath 2nd the floor was full with footprints from the previous clients 3rd rooms are separated by a wood door which let lass all sounds. The stuff was nice but useless and the w/f Internet connection very week in the room.
We stayed here for about a week during Easter/Spring Break week. We chose it because most of the other hotels were sold out due to the holiday. The staff are all very nice and helpful, especially the manager who speaks English. Cons: 1. Air conditioning: The air conditioning did not work well at all and our room never cooled off. It was usually cooler outside than it was inside our room. 2.Train: It was hard to keep the windows open to cool the room off because of the loud trains 100 feet away from the hotel. The trains (long!) would go by a few times at night as well as during the day. 3. Location: Far from the hotel zone. You must drive to any of the real tourist areas. 4. Beach: Sketchy. Seems dirty. Lots of campers. Very industrial looking (close to ports). I would not touch the water here. Pros: 1. English speaking staff were very helpful. 2. Across the street from a main city autobus transit stop. The R-1 Bus goes to all the amazing beaches in Manzanillo. 3. Walkable to the old downtown "Centro" area. The board walk starts right behind the hotel and is lighted all the way to downtown and the square. 4. Free parking. 5. Free internet 6. Security guard 7. Close to Kiosko for late night snacks I would recommend this place for someone who doesn't mind traveling to get to restaurants and beaches. It's a great place to just come to sleep, not to hang out.
have stayed in the Manzanillo area for our 1 week holiday since 2008...this was truly the best of our stays. clean, polite, staff and the general manager speaks english and is available to assist guests. comfortable lounges around pool area, comfortable and clean beds and if you get a view of the ocean it's a bonus. Showers are high tech, TV's are new with some english channels, A/C and WiFi in each room and is free. hope to stay on our return next year, would return at the drop of a hat.
