We stayed here last weekend for a visit to Manchester. The whole point of staying here was that we could spread out what we'd do across the two days. We arrived and the receptionist was very friendly and gave us a map to find our room. Layout very confusing but we found our substantially sized room- very nice. A room can be amazing but if you cannot sleep then it's an issue. Both my husband and I only got 2 hour's sleep the entire night- major soundproofing issues with the corridor and people having full conversations being shouted in the corridor at about 3am. The door offered no soundproofing and we were woken constantly. Nobody asked how our stay was at check out and probably avoided it becauae we looked knackered. Our next day was totally ruined since we both had headaches and stinging eyes. Really unimpressed.
Pros: Near the airport. Room was lovely. Breakfast buffet was nice. Front desk staff was lovely. Cons: One elevator for 300 rooms. Room was a 15 minute walk through multiple hallways. I am not exaggerating in the least. This hotel was only two floors, so 150 rooms on each floor. Carpet throughout halls had padding that was much too thick and make it very difficult to roll our luggage. Was asked to have breakfast in Executive Lounge by staff and told "it's the same as the restaurant". Incorrect -- breakfast in the restaurant was lovely; the lounge had a tiny selection. Room service delivered "root salad" when "wedge salad" was ordered and then argued that we had ordered the "root salad". Even with our horrid American Accents "root" and "wedge" sound very different.
Worth paying the little extra to be able to jump straight back into your car after flight. Shuttles to and from the Car parks run every 15 minutes to and from airport twenty four hrs a day and are free. Just remember which bay you parked in
Our welcome in the elegant foyer was very warm and we were taken to the ground floor bedroom with a disabled bathroom. (I need this now). Our bed was very comfortable, the room was charming and tasteful with all the things one needs. Breakfast was in a large airy room with a superb choice of dishes, fresh fruit and juices. All in all we had a lovely stay at the Marriott and would happily stay there again.
A great stay from check in to check out. The best service that I have had in a UK hotel for some time. Special praise to Munteeb on reception and Cristian in the Restaurant (supervisor). I ate in the bar and the food was very good.
We stayed here after our flight was cancelled. Lovely hotel with the room style and comfort to which I’ve been accustomed as a Marriott elite member. The staff were nice and attentive at check in. The problems: 1. Seemingly only one hotel elevator. The most I’ve ever walked carrying 60lbs of luggage apart from some of the large Las Vegas casinos. Seriously long walk. Very confusing to get to rooms. 2. Room service brought us wrong order. Apparently the staff didn’t understand what was meant by an iceberg wedge salad, even though it was on the menu, so they took it upon themselves to just substitute a “root salad”. 3. We have access as elite members to the executive lounge. When inquiring about breakfast, they told us to have breakfast in the lounge, and that it was the same breakfast as in the restaurant. NOT TRUE. The breakfast in the lounge consisted of various cereals, 2 bowls of fruit, some croissants and pastries, bacon, and some runny scrambled eggs. I went to have a look at the restaurant breakfast, and found a full breakfast menu, eggs to order, smoked salmon, selection of cheeses, bacon, sausage, and everything else the lounge had. Overall impression: Room quality: 5/5 Staff: 3/5 Food: 3/5 Grounds: 3/5
For many years we have stayed at this hotel up to five times a year. We stay overnight before going on holiday and leave our car in the car park. It has always been fine and we have been very happy with this arrangement. Unfortunately we returned from our last trip to find the tow bar and spare wheel stolen from the car while in the car park. Our spare wheel is kept underneath the car (Land Rover) tightly winched up on a cable so it must have taken sometime to get it off! If the tow bar had not been taken as well it could have been sometime before we knew about the spare wheel - so be aware!
Booked into the hotel for one night prior to an early flight the next morning. The rooms have recently been refurbished-to a very good standard. The rooms were to the American standard with two double beds, a sitting and eating area with a work desk. The bathroom was bright and clean with good quality towels and products. We ordered room service-reasonably priced and good quality. Would recommend a stay before a flight. The parking option was available-gave peace of mind as you take your keys with you.
I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last ten years . Until a couple of years ago my Marriott status was the only reason to stay but this hotel has improved significantly over the last couple of years. I always find the staff to be pleasant and the rooms have been recently refurbished so more comfortable. There is also a really good Italian restaurant on site (not affiliated to Marriott). This is a very good dining experience. The only drawback is the lack of an airport shuttle. At the end of the day this still feels like an airport hotel as you would expect but now one I look forward to stay the night before my returning flight to the US.
Booked a room/parking package with holiday extras which also included taxis to/from the airport. Good value/ quick easy transfer to the airport & lovely comfortable beds. Perfect, will definitely use again when taking an early flight from Manchester
