Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

I came to the Marriott to charge my electric car. I phoned the fabulous staff the night before who parked a car in the bay to keep it for me overnight. They then moved it for me to allow me to charge. It is free to charge here and only £11 per 24hrs to park and they don’t mind how long you park for. Only £7 for a taxi to the airport too. Well done Marriott. Far better than the rip off airport car parks !! You are the future !
It finally looks like the Marriott Manchester airport is turning a corner. Impressed with the refurbished rooms. Very stylish. Service throughout was fine, with no major hiccups. Be great to see the bar area refurbished next. Hopefully it's in the pipeline. An added bonus is the excellent San Carlo eatery next door.
Myself and my other half stayed here for a flying over night visit due to a Works party at the nearby Concorde Conference Centre. The hotel is extremely well presented, perfectly located to the airport and the Concorde. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything you need to make your stay perfectly comfortable. The only thing I found slightly confusing was finding our room, they give you a map on check in which may I add is absolutely genius. Overall the hotel was perfect. Thank you to everyone who made our stay that little bit nicer. We will be back.
Booked here before early morning long haul flight. Very large hotel near airport, check in was smooth, but layout confusing - down stairs then upstairs, nice garden courtyard area. room looked good but smelled musty. Beds were comfy, shower hot, tv worked and had large screen. Buffet breakfast next morning delicious all perfectly cooked and fresh.
We stayed here 1 night before our flight. Check in was ok and room was fine for the one night we needed it but had no phone signal and no free wifi at all. I had to go to the bar area and outside to speak to my family. When we checked in we ordered our taxi for 8:45 the following morning (transfers were included in the offer). We arrived in reception at 8:35 to check out and wait for our taxi. At 8:55 there was still no sign of the taxi. I went to check at reception and was abruptly told it has been ordered. At 9:10 I went to check again to be told it will arrive when it can and there was an "incident at Manchester airport causing the delay". At 9:20 I again asked if another taxi can be ordered as we are now 35 minutes late to be told that if I order once I will need to pay again for it and due to the incident the taxi is a little late but will be here when it can be. When I enquired what the incident was I was just told it's an incident. (This day and age, this is poor terminology for what appeared to be roadworks and traffic buildup!!) Anyway, 45 minutes later, the taxi turned up and took us to the airport. The car was fine with plenty of parking spaces. The return taxi process was not quite as explaned when we checked in and another 30 minute wait to get back to the car from the airport. Overall, a decent hotel for a nights stay but a really poor customer service that means I would not recommend or use this hotel again.
I stayed here the night before flying out to America... we tend to have a night at the airport so that we start our holiday early and also so we are close by for early flights. The hotel when you enter is lovely, I cannot fault this, the syntagma on reception were extremely helpful in regards to check in and helping with our luggage. Now my three stars are not because the hotel is awful, but it has the most bizarre layout I have ever been in. We walked to our hotel room with directions from reception. Half way along we weren't sure we were heading the right way, the rooms go off at different angles and the signs only confused us more... how difficult could it be?? Well we found two other people unsure where to go. The room itself was very nice. If I am honest I did expect more, but it was only one night.. there is absolutely no signal in the room and wifi is not free. I find in this day and age a hotel chain of this size doesn't provide it. I called reception, only to be hung up on by a rude receptionist... however I rang back and spoke to a lovely lady who said the cost for wifi was £10, I explained I thought this odd fir a hotel chain but she said that if I joined the Marriott club it would be free, but I need to sign up to it... I asked how I could do this with no internet and she kindly did it for me... now maybe it is me but I have never heard of anything so ridiculous.... Marriott, for goodness sake, just provide free wifi, to everyone staying. The beds to be fair are extremely comfortable. The next morning we checked out and attempted to find our way out of the hotel... we looked up and down the corridor and found no lift... I located a member of staff who said that there wasn't one, only one for the staff who would take our luggage fir us, but we didn't know this and we couldn't wait as a taxi was waiting for us outside. So 2 adults and 1 child........ three suitcases, three hand luggage bags, a pram and a car seat had to go up two lots of stairs to get to the reception.... I am not saying i would not stay here again, but I doubt I would return anytime soon.
From the start until the end of the stay there were problems at this hotel. At first, we weren't able to check-in since it wasn't 4pm, although this is fair enough since 4pm is the advertised time. I ordered a taxi to take me to the airport. At first I was told that it could be charged from the £50 they take from your credit card as a guarantee. I asked again to make sure I could pay by card, I was told "yes". The taxi came 15 minutes late, and this made me miss my advance train, meaning that I had to pay around £57 for a new ticket. I have a receipt with the times the taxi came written on them, and will be sending this to Marriott. Also, I had to pay cash despite being told twice I could pay by card - luckily I just about had enough. We had late check out and I confirmed this at around 11.30am on the day of check out. I left the room at about 1.30pm for a minute, and when I returned the key didn't work - obviously because they couldn't be bothered to update the time. If staff don't know the answer to your question, they either just say "yes" or pass you onto another department - there is no communication between departments and the majority of the staff look like they need a strong cup of coffee and a training course in customer service. Be warned - DO NOT BUY DRINKS OR FOOD IF YOU ARE IN A RUSH - the staff seem to be slow and often forget to put orders through - we witnessed this on both our outbound and inbound stays. It wasn't all bad - the swimming pool is really good, but this is probably because the staff there work for the leisure centre and not the hotel directly. I would honestly never stay here again, the whole thing was a nightmare. Also the £7 taxi fare only seems to be from the hotel to the airport. From the airport terminal to the hotel in a black cab, the only sort that I could find, costs more like £9-10. If I ever fly from MAN again I will be staying at the Premier Inn!
Very good service, bit slow in the bar/restaurant area. Reception very good! Room was clean and had all we needed. Location was about ten minutes from airport. Hotel had a sauna and pool. Only one restaurant .. Quite small area. The staff were very accomodating however, we did hear a dispute between two bar staff on the morning we checked out.. Rather loudly.. Not very professional arguing in the bar area. Not much ambience but served a purpose
Stayed over on the way to the airport, traffic around the airport is horrendous so decided to stop close to the airport the night before the flight. There is no transportation to the airport from the hotel but the reception staff booked me a cab that arrived within minutes, took 5 mins to drive to airport, 7 pounds. Hotel room was big, comfortable, recently upgraded so it seemed, bit of a trek to the room from reception. Used the concierge lounge, nice breakfast. All staff were friendly, only problem was the Internet, I had no connection in my room, I called the front desk, they connected me to some call center in India or so it sounded, spent 25 mins on the phone she had me change a bunch of stuff on my device IP address etc etc stuff that was beyond my little knowledge of wifi connections just to get me connected, which I thought was a bit ridiculous, I have never had to be connected to a call center before in a hotel just to get their internet to work for me!! Other than that all was good!
We have tried all of the airport hotels which all seem basic compared to this hotel, the hotel staff were very friendly, the rooms were perfect and clean, the lounge which you pay extra for was lovely with great staff who were always happy to help, the breakfast was outstanding! The other thing we loved about this hotel was when you park your car up it stays there no one is moving it about which is a great benefit. Over all this hotel was a perfect start to our holiday.
