my room was dated dark and difficult to read in. food was brilliant and worth coming back to food alone. avoid staff changes. this hotel has lost its identity and could do with a thorough make over, the hotel inspector needs to sort hotel out. building work inside the hotel has begun but carrying lumps of condemmed furniture down to ground level over the heads of unsuspecting sun worshippers could get them into all sorts of trouble i suspect that this hotel is under new management and theres a long trip ahead. corridors carpets are a mystery to me they are colourless and need a replacement best part of my holiday was swimming in the indoor pool all to my self.

Totally fine and not that expensive. We were there only for one night. room was good size and average. Had a bar with live music so that was nice to sit outside and listen. Breakfast was more about quantity, not quality. Easy walk (~5 to 10 min?) to either waterfront..the St. Paul's shoals side with the busier boardwalk or the opposite side of the peninsula which is more residential and there are some restaurants.

I just want to say how great our stay was at the hotel Santana especially the food. so much choice for breakfast with yogurt and cereals full English and 3 course meal in the evening we went in thin and came out fat. The location was really great right near Bugibba bus terminus with buses that leave for all destinations around the island. The least thing I liked was the location of my room there was a noisy pub outside and the people were talking there until the wee small hours of the morning which disrupted my sleep somewhat and the room only had one fan with no ac but when asked about it was given another fan which helped. Lovely outdoor pool to enjoy too. But I want to say a big thank you to all the catering staff on the well run restaurant and delicious food. I am glad to say that the restaurant is opened for non residents in the evening too so all can enjoy at a reasonable cost.

My wife and I stayed in this Hotel back in October. We were part of a group organised by Mackin Travel and we checked into this Hotel on the 10th for our stay of six nights. First the good points. Room nice and clean. Balcony view of the sea in the distance. Staff very friendly and courteous. Safe provided with a charge of 5 euro per day which was refundable and you were given a key. Should you lose this key there is a charge of 100 euro. Safe was positioned at the very bottom of the wardrobe so you had to get on your knees to use the safe. Not a great idea for the guests who were mostly elderly. I can not understand why the safe was not placed at elbow level like most hotels we have stayed in.The food is all a self service Buffet. We stayed on a half board basis. Some things that do need attention drawing to is the sausages at breakfast which were under cooked as they were always white and not brown as in cooked. I had my usual fry up but that was one thing that always put me of. Second was the usual scramble every morning to get hot water for the tea. Two machines side by side for dispensing hot water and coffee. A very small table provided in the corner with tea bags and milk and about twenty and more people there each morning balancing cups of boiling water and its a miracle nobody was scalded. Those dispensing machines should be placed well apart at each end of the dining area which would make it easier all around. It was a hit and miss most evenings to find a table as you might have to wait until the table was cleared. One annoying point is the inadequate lighting in our room as at night you could not read a paper or a book as most people like to do to relax. I did bring this to the attention of the reception staff next morning but I got the impression that it was a common complaint and it was not acted upon. In this day and age with led lighting surely a decent light in our room was not a lot to ask for. The light would be the equivalent to a 40 watt bulb is my guess as the lighting was very subdued. Other than that we enjoyed our stay in this Hotel except for the few points I have raised and most people who have stayed their will identify with the points I have raised. I would still recommend this Hotel as the staff were friendly and the food was good and a good variety as well.

My elderly father recently stayed at The Santana for 3 weeks from the 13th November. He had been made aware that refurbishment works were to be carried out from the beginning of December so continued to book his accommodation as thought that this would not effect his stay. But unfortunately the works started during his stay which left him limited hot water and heating and caused a lot of disruption not only to himself but also to other guests. After several complaints and 4 days later they did change his room but this did not resolve the problem leaving him really frustrated and completely ruined the duration of the rest of his stay Then to top it all the pre-booked taxi transfer did not show leaving him having to make and pay extra for a private taxi transfer My dad travels twice a year to Malta and apart from having health issues feels that this is the worst holiday he has ever had, what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable time turned into a stressful and very disappointing break and he feels really strongly that the hotel should not have been open for occupancy.

Swell decorated. Good location. Saturday break, just one night, after a busy week. Cheap room but absolutely fine. Breakfast good, staff helpful. Very clean, Evening singer very responsive to audience requests. Will definitely return. Excellent value at this time of year.

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay with the Hotel Santana. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from the airport. We arrived to a warm welcome by the reception staff. I had emailed before we left the UK to ask, if possible, for a top floor room, in a quiet location with a sea view. We were not disappointed. We were allocated room 530. It was overlooking the gardens at the back and you could see the sea also. It was quiet but one night there was entertainment in the bar above us. It was a bit noisy so we just left our room, went upstairs and joined in with the fun and dancing. We stayed all inclusive and had no complaints. We always found the food to be hot, plenty of choice and the waiters in the dining area were always busy clearing tables and taking drinks orders. The hotel is due to have some building work and this was starting whilst we were there. Outside the lifts on our floor was a some mess on the carpets from the builders but the cleaning staff were doing their best to keep this to a minimum. The outside roof top pool area was nice and we managed to sit in the sun a little while but we didn't venture into the pool. The pool bar wasn't open but you could borrow towels from reception for 5 euro deposit. We used the indoor pool and jacuzzi and enjoyed having this all to ourselves. We paid for a facial and massage whilst we were there also. On our second day we used the hop on and off transport to see some of the island. We ordered a packed lunch the day before and this was ready for us at 8.30am, when we left. We enjoyed the seeing the resort. We would recommend buying tickets on the promenade, as they are better value. All in all we enjoyed our time at the hotel. People holiday in Malta on a regular basis but having been there now, we feel we probably wont return but that is only down to personal choice and if we did, we wouldn't hesitate in staying at the Santana again.

Stayed here last week with my husband. We arrived in the evening. We had room 609. I had requested a top floor room not really thinking how high this hotel. We were very high but it’s what I requested so that was good of them to answer my request. We had a fantastic view of the sea we were at the back of the hotel and this was a standard room. The room was plenty big enough but the water in the bathroom ran very slow I think the higher the room the less pressure you get in the shower and bath taps. The other thing we didn’t like at all about being on level 6 is that the cocktail bar is on the same level so when there was entertainment on in this room, which was most nights starting from 8.30- midnight it was very nosiey in the room. There was a lot of older people in this hotel which we didn’t mind and it maybe because it’s November. The food was ok. The drinks were good too. The location was fantastic and the bus stop is right by the hotel too. We enjoyed munchies bar which was especially good on weekends. Would recommend this hotel but just not level 6. Thank you for our stay.

Just returned from a pleasant 5 night stay at the Hotel Santana. Staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 203 at the front of the hotel. Road and nearby bar with karaoke could be noisy. Room was cleaned regularly, towels changed when requested but automatically on day 3. Toiletries replenished regularly. Only downside was that bathroom always flooded when taking a shower. Room was equipped with a kettle, glasses and fridge for drinks. Coffee and tea provided for 2.50 Euros. Free Wi-fi available but this collapsed on the last day, and as only accessible in the lobby. We stayed on half board basis - food was fine but not always hot. Plenty of choice both at breakfast and dinner. Hotel has an indoor pool (hotel provides towels for returnable deposit). Pool often got crowded and as it was small, swimming was limited - nice for children. Location excellent. Coast only 5 minutes away as was the bus terminus where one can get buses direct to airport, Valetta, Mdina and the ferry for Gozo. Would certainly recommend a stay at the Santana.

Comfortable room in this popular hotel. Were well pleased to be upgraded to stay at this 4 star hotel, which allowed us to have an excellent 10 night break.Food served in restaurant was plentiful and full of choice for both breakfast and dinner, in that we did not require to spend further on any other food. Indoor pool and facilities were a useful asset used most days . good location to venture out for walks or make use of the excellent island bus service or tour operators
