We have just returned from Santana stayed for 10 days and have stayed before. Hotel was very nice had a lovely room and it was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. Staff all helpful and friendly there was some building work going on next door but we didn’t let it spoil our holiday. We had B and B and I had no complaints about the breakfast plenty of choice. Lots of bars restaurants in the area with live music in the evening 5 minuets walk from the bus terminus you can catch a bus to anywhere on the island. This Hotel is great value for money and we would like to thank you for a lovely stay.

Had our first trip to Malta, came home disappointed. We went to Qwara which in places looked like half finished building sites with very little to do unless you got a bus to Valletta for 1.5 € on a packed public bus or hop on hop off bus for 17€. The hotel gave a good impression from the outside, but inside the cleanliness left some doubt with furniture requiring replacement. I had a Comfort room which had 2 single beds coffee and tea making facilities. Our stay lasted 10 days our bedding not changed once. The towels had seen better days grey and thin. We had no water one day. Had to request a change of rooms after2 daysas directly over a loading bay which was in use from around 5 in the morning. Crates and other items being thrown about. Most of the staff were very nice and friendly. Singer or karaoke on each night.one evening singer on when he had a break he played Rolf Harris music which I informed him that the majority of English people found it offensive and was in prison for child abuse, said it was nothing to do Malta and not their problem. Un sympathetic towards people’s felling and a good a good laugh with his followers. Check places out before you go

Very clean. Went b&b. Breakfast good with a decent selection of food but did not vary much day to day. Staff friendly and helpful. Stay there often and will be returning later this year. One word of warning. There is a building site next door and it can be noisy if your room overlooks the zazen garden area. Interesting watching them work. Definitely no health and safety rules here

stayed here on holiday in june was not sure what to expect but stay was brill food good staff good room was clean perhaps a little dated but spottles bathroom large good shower very clean towels changed daily

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this Hotel in Qawra St Pauls bay Malta.Let's start with the good points about this Hotel. Domestic cleanliness of our room,was very good,no complaints,although the carpet could have done with a good shampoo, all was ok.There is a kettle,and cups supplied,no coffee,or tea,though,bring your own. I also have no complaint about the Dining area,it was clean and kept that way by efficient,freindly staff. The variety of food on the menu,was excellent,and was well cooked,compliments to the chefs.Getting back to our room number 146 on the first floor, situated at the back of the Hotel enclosed by all the other balconies.,To our right we had a wall, with Balconies , looking up over us, we had Balconies,going up,to the left also the same,we were completely surrounded, , Facing us,we had the roof of the bar storage which was underneath on the ground floor. Also directly facing us, is the building site, extension construction of the Hotel,which looks to be about the same height completion .When this gets completed,there will not be much light to come through for anyone in the back of this Hotel.,We were in the shade all the way through,which was a disappointment . The surrounding area,although a bit scruffy Maltese standards,there is,a lot of litter in the streets,all around with some ,broken glass, on the pavements,beware if wearing sandals!. On other subjects, Tours are good value,there is a chap called Graham, who is directly opposite the entrance to the Hotel who arranges good value tours,from open,top buses,to harbour cruises at very good prices,well worth seeking him out.You are only a tem minute stroll to the promenade,and the Aquarium along there is well worth a visit,Plenty of places to sit,and enjoy the view over looking the sea,and it is kept reasonably tidy. A tip for any late flight back home, We had a late flight going back,10.45pm,and as we had to be out of our room at 11.00am, and apart from a Luggage room,the Toilet facilities on the ground floor,and nothing more as fully booked,would be worth finding an alternative Hotel for the last day,as we had to,it's a long day in the heat,if you don't and not very comfortable.The Hotel Santana is not obliged to offer you rooms if they have all rooms fully booked.We have been to malta about a dozen times or more through the years,this has some good points,but it also has the not so good.

Can't really fault the hotel on service, rooms food and facilities. What let it down was the fact that our Comfort Rooms #152 & #151 for which we paid extra, overlooked the street, not a problem in itself if you know Malta but the problem was that the rooms overlooked the hotel loading site. Deliveries and bin collection started at 5am and went on all day. Could not open windows because if the noise. Also we couldn't use the aircon after midnight to after lunch time because hotel regulate it's use. So during 35°heat couldn't open windows because of noise and couldn't use the aircon. If we had been staying longer than a week I would have insisted in another room.

I have been visiting the Santana for 20 years and have watched it change from a sad and unloved hotel (but still one I wanted to be at) to an establishment that means business which can only be achieved with investment. This hotel has a continuing programme of revamp, is very much moving with the times and it’s clear to see that there is ongoing investment in this hotel . However one of its biggest assets is the staff. Typical Maltese hospitality a management team that cares and I can’t leave this review without a special mention for Sophie in the Zazen garden who is just the perfect ambassador for the Santana The other good.? - Room cleanliness is second to none - comfortable and well appointed, no over-inflate prices at the bar. We have a bedsit type apartment which is just ideal. If I were looking for areas of improvement I would say that Wi fi coverage is not great, could only get it in the bathroom (in the bath!) but able to get it a street away in the Red Lion (good for breakfast). The Kitchen in self-catering apartment but sparingly equipped...- no side plates, no oven, basic utensils... so if you want to cook - it's a challenge. Take a decent knife and go buy mugs if you want to prepare food or have more than a one mouthful cup of tea, There is nowhere to hang washed items other than the balcony railings which is a bit "chav" so a mini washing line or “airer” would be appreciated. Ideally, proactive maintenance would be preferred, but in their defence any time we highlighted an issue, it was resolved almost immediately. Would I recommend? You bet I would, great location, lovely place – not perfect but getting there! Would I go back? - Yes and the sooner the better

We always look for the positives rather than the negatives in life unlike a lot of reviewers but , everyone's untitled to an opinion so here goes . We've travelled a lot and four stars in England does not mean four stars abroad ...lets get that straight . A lot of reviews on here go on and on about that this but don't read too deep into it. We arrived mid morning and the rooms we booked were available straight away. Bonus The rooms on the second floor overlooked the car park at the front of the hotel and were adequate for our needs . Slight complaint here ... Tea coffee sugar etc not included in price unless you wanted to pay a supplement.. no thanks . Quick visit to the superb little supermarket next door and we are sorted for the week . Staff in the Hotel excellent and very special mention to Karen who works in the bars in the evening . Her customer skills are brilliant and although overworked on some nights she always had a smile on her face and her Maltese coffees are something else . We were half board and Breakfast had the normal mix of continental and traditional offerings . The staff were on hand to clear plates quickly . Evening meals always had a mixed choice and we always found something we liked on offer . A lot of the people in the Hotel have the mentality that they have to put as much food on their plate as they possibly can. Sadly that is society today .not a fault of the Hotel . We ordered water with the evening meal but unless you ask for chilled you will be given room temperature . Lesson learnt . The evening entertainment is low key and the outside seating area at the back of the hotel is superb . A mix of soft furnishing and ambient lighting make it a lovely place to spend an evening. The pool on the roof is a great asset with a covered area if you want a sun bed in the shade . The snack bar on the next level down is again staffed by a lovely and pleasant member of staff and does a fine selection of offerings at reasonable rates . Ok down to the negative that the hotel has no control over . The Biulding work at the back of the hotel is ongoing. A huge crane is in eye level even on the top floor but that's Malta all over. A lot of construction work is in place but don't let that put you off. I got a bit of satisfaction in watching the workmen from the top floor with the sun on my back . There was a mix of nationalities in the Hotel and it's evident that the British system of queuing is not followed by our colleagues across the Channel . Hopefully that has given you a snap shot of what we saw . Some people will moan for tha sake of moaning . Can I recommend this Hotel to others . Yes is the answer.

Hotel Santana is a hotel of complete extremes and contrasts . Which is rather a pity as it does have the potential to be so much better . Our room was clean ,modern and light . But very tight on space to move around with only one small wardrobe for clothes and one small draw . We had asked for a quiet room . Which it was until around 6.45am when building works started . However they did refrain from using power tools till around 7am . We had a lovely view from our balcony over the Zen garden ( if you could ignore the surrounding building site ) The pool area had lovely views ( not taking in to account the building works surrounding the hotel ) The sundeck and bar area were pleasant with shade and sun beds but not as expected from photos seen on trip advisor . The Zen garden bar area was lovely peaceful and relaxing . We spent most evenings sat chatting in this area and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Now for the restaurant..... Not a huge choice but the food was well cooked and presented . However .... the service received was nothing short of diabolical. At one meal I actually had my plate whisked away from me whilst I was still eating !!!! The waitress was totally unaware of my protestations... I would say that the majority of the areas and staff in the hotel would be representative on average of a 3 star hotel . However this rapidly deteriorated to a 2 star or less , dependent on which staff were on duty when entering the restaurant.... on the last morning of going down to breakfast I was actually relieved that I wouldn't be having to eat in there again .... Malta is a beautiful Island and we will visit again .... But not to stay in Hotel Santa .

Excellent hotel. Had complete revamp apart from basement leisure area (which lets it down). Food and dining areas are well staffed and the meals are what you would expect from this type/standard of hotel. Requires numerous visits to the reception as the rooms are not fully stocked. Not a problem, but if it's your first visit can be frustrating. Good central position for exploring Malta. I personally use the hotel to commute between Gozo and Malta Airport.
