I was in this hotel for 4 nights. The experience could not have been worst. The facilities are obviously not according to a 4 star rating. Internet did not work in the room. The gym is a joke. But what made it an even nightmare experience was the terrible customer assistance/care provided by the front desk. Never gonna stay in this hotel again.
We chose this hotel because it was near the bus station and it is, our room was small but that's what we chose. The weather wasn't great while we were staying so the roof bar and garden were closed which was a shame, would be great in the warmer weather only one bar inside which really isn't big enough when the weather is bad for the size of the hotel. Recomend using the buses to get around the Island really easy expect to stand at busy times they pack em in! Getting the ferry from Valetta to Selima is a must, not particularly exciteting but breaks us the busing around! Hotel staff were extremely helpful and polite especially the bar staff who were a credit to the Santana. Plenty of building sites around the hotel this didn't bother as it us gave some entainment. If you looking for a short break this is a perfect hotel with lots of bars/cafe/restaurants near by. If you take a cheaper room you get a kettle cups/saucers but no tea/coffee etc take your own it's cheeper than buying from the hotel.
A good place for a short break. Had a problem with the bed, but staff very accommodating and changed the bed while we where out. A good indoor pool and lovely pool on the roof (was a bit cold in March to actually use it though) well located for restaurants and pubs etc and also close to the main bus terminals to go north or south. Our room was a bit tired but they are busy rejuvenating the rooms and the updated rooms looked great. They did offer us one of the updated rooms but we were happy with the one we had. There is building work on the go at the moment but if you are aware of it before you go, just accept there will be a bit of noise and plan around it. Good value for money and had a great time
This hotel May not be 4 star by other standards but for what you pay it exceeds expectations.The staff are very helpful and friendly.Drinks prices in the bar are very cheap by British Hotel standards.Our rooms were very spacious with a bedroom and kitchen /lounge area.Plenty of British sockets and very clean.Other rooms round the back of the hotel did look small and there was also noise from building work next door.The main bus station is a five minute walk.With cheap bus fares(Although buses were full beyond capacity) but at €1.50 to anywhere good value. The breakfast at the hotel was good with fresh fruit.For the price the Hotel could not be faulted
The hotel staff was nice (would be 4 points) but unfortunately the room we had was quite noisy. This applies to hearing the evening entertainment as well guests walking by the room and construction noises.
We booked a room at this hotel in November 2017 for a 10-night stay in February 2018. At arrival, we paid for the entire stay in good faith. Then our nightmare began. The first room we were given was freezing cold. After complaining at the reception, they sent a maintenance person who switched on the heating but the room still remained cold. Much worse, there was an electrical box on the wall inside our room that was making a constant and loud buzzing sound. Maintenance informed us that nothing could be done about it. We demanded another room or a refund, because the conditions were not satisfying for us. A refund was denied but we got a second room for our first night, with the promise of another room starting from the next day, if available. In our second room there were hairballs stuck on a small chair in the bathroom. The next morning, we were given our third room on the fifth floor. Because of the view and first appearance, we took it. During the day, the problems with the room became apparent. There was significant wet damage on the walls and on the ceiling. There was a blood stain on the linen. On the wooden frame of the bed, we saw mold stains, with a diameter of at least 5 cm, if not more. There were mold stains also in the closet. The cups in the room were full of dust and small hair. The whole room smelled of moist. In the evening and especially in the morning, the room smelled of cigarette smoke. Keeping the window open did not help. It was also cold in the room, because the heating was centrally controlled and switched off during the day, but the room failed to heat up, when the heating was turned on. The room felt like someone's summer cabin that had been abandoned for years. Also, the breakfast was terrible! The vegetables looked old, the bananas had spots on them (everyone of them!), and the bacon tasted like a piece of rubber. They couldn't even prepare hot beans. Because there were no other rooms available at the hotel but we felt awful staying in our room, we decided to check into another hotel. This cost us extra money, of course, that we had not planned. But the overall experience at Hotel Santana was so terrible that we felt we could not stay there and ruin our holiday. Because our flight back home left very early in the morning, we decided to go back to Hotel Santana and stay for our last night in our room. When we got to our room, it turned out that they had given it away to another client. When we complained, the receptionists started to blame us of not telling them that we had left. They claimed they did not have our contacts, but I am sure that through Booking they had my email address. Of course, they had not contacted us in any way. We felt like fools standing there, at the reception of a hotel that we had booked for 10 nights. I would seriously not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Location was very good, nice hotel not quite 4 star, room for improvement. Food was buffet style, plenty of choice. Puddings were wonderful. Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare due to very antiquated toaster plus two other toasters with only two slots in each working, long queue for toast each morning. Room was nice, bathroom was spotless, lovely walk in shower. No space to put toiletries, shelf in bathroom would be an idea. The bar area could be bigger, when there was entertainment there weren't enough seats. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful, they worked very hard.
Arriving at the hotel at around 1400 hrs on a Sunday and room not ready, told to come back in about 2 hours. Not a good start, but was able to use the overpriced bar, which at the time we did not know. After finally being allocated our room we were put at the back of the hotel, where we could see there was building work going on. But decided to wait to see what noise we could hear when work began next morning. Woke early with builders starting at 0600 hrs, so asked to change rooms, no problem. We were given a room at the front of the hotel and much more spacious with a large balcony. Majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant had a good choice of food and very edible. Bar overpriced and staff not all friendly. But overall a very nice hotel, comfortable, relaxing and ckean
A friend booked for my wife and I to go to this Hotel for my wife's birthday.The friends came too.My wife read all the reviews before we went and was very doubtful about going as they were all so negative.Our stay was EXCELLENT. We arrived early and we were allocated our room straight away.Room very clean and also had a kettle! The food was excellent a good selection at breakfast and dinner. The staff were all very helpful and polite. The weather while we were there was dreadful so we did not venture out at night.We went to the bar and enjoyed the entertainment which was on every night. My only gripe is the bar area is too small! We will be going back in the summer.
We arrived earlier than check in time which is 2pm. It was fair we had to wait but until 3:30 pm we were still waiting the room to be ready! The receptionist were not friendly as well!! I was so annoyed 😒 The room was good and clean.
