The sauna they have (which is additionally charged) is totally a no go for a 4* hotel. It was old and dirty (pictures attached). No thermostat and emergency button inside, could not even be heated up properly, was just warm. Cleanliness in public areas could also be improved. Stuff is friendly but not professional enough.
well,my partner my son and myself couldnt fault this hotel ,the room was always very clean, staff very friendly and helpful especially when when sons luggage had not arrived and was still at east midland airport when we arrived nothing was a problem to the staff, and the luggage turned up when they said it would.the entertainment was good and enjoyed sitting in the court yard in the evening with friends and enjoying the sights in malta in the day,we cannot fault this hotel when we stayed here, and we will be returning nxt year,we cannot thank the staff enough
Hotel Santana Not too bad but if like us you are put on 5th floor be advised that the floor above is used as a fuction room, so all you hear is chairs scraping about all night , Also if your room is in back off hotel then you have zero sun on balcony Breakfast not too bad, the usual queuing for coffee machine and toasters Big Thumbs Up for Karen in lobby bar , cannot do enough for you ,an absolute bonus for this hotel, would I return probably not as there is better for price in arena
We stayed at Santana hotel for 3 nights and thanks of the help from the hotel menager we had a good time. The room is on the last floor and was clean, big with a big balcon and with every comfort that we need for our holiday. The breakfast buffet was with every kind of food and with a good choise of dishes. In front of the Hotel there is a big parking that is easy to found a park everytime. The Hotel is situated in a quite location whit restaurants, shops and not so far from bugibba center. There are as well 2 nice pools for the guests. Thank you very much to make us a nice stay in Bugibba and for a good time spent in the Hotel Santana.
Stayed in the Santana Hotel at the beginning of October. It is in the centre of Buggiba, close to the bus terminus and all bars clubs etc. We booked a comfort room which was in the fairly new extension. The weather was appalling for the first few days ,torrential rain. A very large leak appeared in pipe work above our room door, although reported to reception it was not fixed until a few days later. The Hotel despite this is great, with an indoor pool, fitness room sun terraces and roof top pool. The room was a decent size with shower, and plenty of wardrobe space. We had a balcony with an oblique view of the sea. The waiting staff were extremely polite and efficient, the food was of a good standard with plenty of choice. Karen in the bar was a great credit to the Hotel as she was not only a brilliant cocktail mixer she could not do enough for you. Would recommend this Hotel to friend and family
Had a lovely holiday Staff all very nice and helpful especially Karen and chiela A credit to your hotel Would recommend to all my friends and family All meals varied and very well cooked and very tasty
Stayed 15th sept for 10 nights. Lovely hotel great rooftop pool not too busy quiet area. We found pubs and restaurants close by by using google maps, didnt have a bad meal in hotel either and lunch at the bar at the front of the hotel. We were half board but still ate out a few times. Zazen garden lovely good entertainment (singers) Felt really safe walking about even on back streets. Went on open top bus that comes outside hotel to visit valletta and st juliennes we could/should of got off as its a hop on hop off bus but we didnt. Beautiful buildings and scenery. Didnt see one beach werent bothered as we dont go on the beach. Was short walk to bugibba square and short walk to big hotels and nice resturaunts at tip of st pauls bay. First hotel ive ever had to upgrade room as it was so small, never thought twice when booking just wanted balcony, we upgraded to a suite which was fabulous (we did pay) it was at front of hotel. Just take note when booking. Yes as stated aircon goes off by a timer and when in small room that was a massive problem. Very easy bus depot just ask where you want to go they will tell you. Pubs nearby Alexs and murphys a must! Overall very cheap to eat and drink out cheapest holiday we've ever had. It was refreshing to walk along the main streets with bars and restaurants and not have people constantly trying to pull you in. Went in sauna and indoor poor with jacuzzi had it to ourself which was nice, i dont think people use it often. Staff are all brilliant!
My wife and I chose this hotel after some research for a week's stay in the last week of September, having never been to Malta before. Prior to choosing I read a number of mixed reviews and having stayed there it is now my belief that some people need to either pay more for their hotel or stop moaning, as I thought that the package that we bought represented very good value indeed. We purchased a package offer from British Airways aimed at all of their Executive Club members that included 5 nights' stay on a bed and breakfast basis, flights and car hire, all for £882 for the two of us. When we arrived at reception we thought the welcome could have been a little warmer, but it was efficient and we were soon on our way to room 339 at the side of the hotel, an older but perfectly suitable room to suit our needs, despite the iron burn on the carpet! I had to pay an additional 1.25€ per day to use the safe that was in the room, which I thought should have been included in the room rate. The room included a kettle, hospitality tray that allowed unlimited tea and coffee, plenty of toiletries and clean sheets and towels every day. I cannot fault the housekeeping, every morning we were cheerily greeted as we went out and every evening we returned to a room ready for new guests. The hotel itself is a combination of quiet old and brand new, having had extensive work to modernise and extend it, and we were based in the older but quieter part of the hotel. There is an indoor pool on the lower ground floor with a built in jacuzzi and changing rooms and a massage room adjacent to it. Opposite the pool entrance doors leads to a quite sizeable restaurant and adjacent additional dining room, and this is where the buffet style breakfast is served every morning. People have complained in their reviews about the lack of available lifts, but I managed to find five of them! Take one of them up and you will find a roof terrace on three levels, with a bar on the lower one, a swimming pool on the middle one and sun loungers on all three. Great views can be had in all directions from the roof terraces and my wife and I enjoyed watching a distant thunderstorm over the sea late one evening from the top terrace. At the back of the hotel you will find the Zazen garden, a terrace with its own bar and water features, complete with very comfortable Rattan furniture to relax on, protected from any showers or burning sun by large gazebos. During the evenings we were there a singer would entertain the mainly English pensioner audience and take requests from them. To the side of the hotel is the Castagna café and bar and in all of the bars when you order drinks they ask you to sit down and then brink your drinks to you, along with complimentary bowls of potato crisps and assorted nuts. Breakfast every morning is a buffet style affair, with both continental and cooked offerings. I heard some guests moaning about it but again I think maybe these people should have paid more and gone to a hotel that would more closely meet their high demands or realise that they have paid a budget price for their stay and stop moaning. There were many items available and the very cheery staff made sure that the items were constantly replenished. You could easily make a comprehensive cooked breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes etc., or porridge, or many kinds of fresh fruit and yoghurt, or even some Maltese cakes and a wide choice of breads. Unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juices are available, again on a self serve basis and no-one needs to leave the restaurant hungry. Opposite the hotel are two car parks where there are plenty of spaces and for completely free, as well as some free to park spaces marked by white lines in surrounding streets. There are many restaurants and bars within five minutes' walk, along with shops and a pharmacy. The beach areas can be reached within ten minutes' gentle walk. Tour buses leave from right outside the hotel and can include tours by boat to Gozo and Comino. I would recommend this hotel for mature couples and families who like to get good value for their money but do not have unreasonable expectations of service at the snap of their fingers. I found nothing to complain about and every member of staff I met was courteous and helpful. We will stay there again without hesitation. Tip: If you want a quiet room, do not stay in one overlooking the Zazen garden, as the singer tends to entertain until between 11pm and midnight.
Stayed at the Hotel Santana for 2 weeks on an All Inclusive basis. We had a fantastic time. I had emailed a couple of weeks before we went to ask them to upgrade our room to a comfort room, which they did, no charge. No problems at check in, very fast & straight to our room which was very big, lots of room & clean. Bathroom was fairly small, but a lovely big shower. 2 bad things about the room were that the sheets on the the bed did not fit properly & you would be just lying on the mattress in the morning, which we did not like. Also the bath towels were thread bare & barely went round your body! They really do need to address these matters. Restaurant staff were all very friendly, helpful. Food was very tasty & plenty of choice. Bar staff all friendly, especially Karen who never stopped! She was on the go constantly, making sure we always had a drink & snacks. The weather was absolutely scorching & the roof top pool was heaven. Lovely & cold! It took your breathe away when you got in, but because the weather was so hot it was a relief! We did not use the indoor pool or jacuzzi as it was so hot & we were outside all the time. Location of the Santana is perfect for all the bars, restaurants, shops & close to the bus station. Would def come back again as we had a great time, very relaxing.
Hotel is very clean the majority of the staff go out of their way to make your stay a good one.reception staff are a bit abrupt.food is OK always something you could eat.roof top pool was good and always plenty of sunbeds pool bar was a nice touch as well the new gardens are beautiful and the entertainment was ok
