TRYP Madrid Gran Via Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

Given the room sizes and decor, or lack thereof, this IMHO could never be an excellent hotel, but it is very good, has a great location, represents decent value for money, the service was excellent, it was very clean (although some black mould in the shower spoilt that) and the breakfast was very good - a nice selection and FRESH fruit juices. Also fast and free wifi and I asked for a got a room high up and at the back, so Gran Via noise was no problem. Not great for business, but a very nice tourist hotel for a few days visit to Madrid.
It's a very good hotel in a perfect location. Nice and clean and it has everything you expect for a hotel room. The pillows are also good and the matras is a little bit on the hard side, but not too bad. Breakfast is also plenty and good. Only thing is that the elevator is old and slow.
The best thing about this place is it's location. In the heart and close to all famous spots and accessible by metro. The rooms are good and neat and good breakfast is served. Overall best for staying in Madrid.
This one is in the heart of the city, you just get out of the hotel you feel like at tourist places. close to sol and plaza mayor and other attractions. The rooms are quite good in size neat and clean and almost all required facilities. We didn't took the BF but heard that the spread is good and quality of breakfast served. Excellent place to stay and our list day in Madrid.
Our first stop during our visit to Spain. Great location within walking distance to Plaza Mayor, lots of activities in the area. The hotel rooms are small but the service is great. The staff is very helpful and accommodating to your request.
This hotel is clean, efficient and simple. If you're looking for the extra detail i.e. water in the room, a mini fridge, spacious rooms then this is not it. The hotel has an extensive array of breakfast and some vending machines that will provide basic snacks, hot and cold drinks throughout the day. The brilliance lies in the location of this place, it's a 10-15 minutes walk away from all the major sites, it's on the hop on hop off bus route, it's got a travel agent and a carrefour express at less than a 2 minute walking distance away from the hotel. The hotel is clean, the rooms are bright and the staff is very helpful. They've got an agreement with a cafe nearby that does deliver. Plain, simple, international food in case you've arrived at an awkward time in the night. The place is vibrant till 3am!
Conveniently located, walking distance to Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor or even El Prado Museum, and over Gran Via, a street full of life and shopping opportunities. Rooms have noise isolation, but the street is so noisy and crowded that you will hear sirens and people yelling or singing on the street almost until dawn. The staff at the front desk is not really helpful, they will barely answer your questions in a rough way. The rooms are small but clean and confortable, the bathroom nice confortable and very clean. The complementary breakfast is good with fruits, a nice bread table, assortment of cheese, Spanish chorizo, Spanish Ham, Spanish Tortilla, and a nice view over Gran Via. Vending machines available 24 hours, for the days we were there they had ran our of water and it was not refilled so we had to go out for water. They one turn on the air con until summer is in, so if you happen to have a hot day in April (as we did) you won´t have air conditioning available (I understand this, it is costly to turn the huge machine for one day, and not nice for the environment). The lobby is small but nice and clean like the rest of the hotel.
Just returned from my Tryp Stay and I love it!!!! Stayed twice before and after my tour with VPT. Great staff ,very polite and fast service during my different check in process. Rooms are comfy and with great amenities. Breakfast was great and what I love the most was the priceless location. Staying at the Gran Via area is a plus!!!! You can walk to a lot of stores, restaurants, theater's, main attractions and landmarks such as Plaza del Sol, Callao, del Carmen, EL Corte Ingles Gourmet Experience, Mercado San Miguel, Hop on Hop off stops among others. I stayed at 3 different rooms but 803 was my favorite. When you are out most of the day out coming back to a comfy bed and a great shower with so many amenities is a huge plus. Mariana and Ruben were great helping me and also the guy from Security from Dominican Republic. Will be back next year. Thank You Tryp Gran Via!!!!!!!
After our stay at the Hostal Felipe V, I decided to make a radical move. We booked the Tryp at Gran Via. From the welcome to the farewell we were treated like royalty. Asked directions to the Figaro Theater and the directions were perfect. Asked for a restaurant to have a nice dinner and the recommendation of Ciudad de Tui Restaurant couldn't been better. Stay here, do not venture around!
very good in the dead centre of Madrid. Possibility to have a continental breakfast 05h due to an early flight out of MAD. Fast service checking in and out. Very clean and tidy. The reception personal very effective and swift.
