As city centre and business district hotels go, the Tryp Chamartin is good value, but:- It looks like a block of flats. Although it's only about 300 yards as the crow flies from the main Chamartin rail station you will probably need more than one go at finding your way across the road, what with subways, escalators and flyovers. Its location is not enhanced by the adjacent presence of the tented homeless, but of course they have to live somewhere. However:- Do not be put off by references to the steep front steps. There is a ramp to the basement alongside, from whence you can take the lift to reception. The reception staff are kept busy in this large hotel, but they manage to keep themselves brisk rather than brusque. The rooms are large, with comfortable beds and a hospitality selection - not least the most highly polished apple I've ever seen. The evening hot and cold buffet restaurant gives excellent value. Recommended as a reasonable base. If you want to pay several times as much just to avoid a few stops on the metro into the city centre, by all means do, but we didn't, and we don't regret our decision.
Nice location, close to the Chamartin train and metro station, also you are able to walk to the Bernabeu stadium (15min walk). Good quality of service, and clean. Nice view and quiet place. Will be back for sure.
This property looks somewhat unpromising from outside, and the flight of stairs up to reception a bit daunting (I think there is a lift). The rooms are very spacious and well appointed, bed comfortable, good wi-fi, and a range of amenities. Reception at night can be a tad grumpy. I asked a rather basic question about my Melia card (never gets credited for any stay in Melia, Sol and Tryp properties) and discovered that reception as they couldn't find my card number just created a new account for me, without informing me. That rather minor incident apart, it is a good hotel, well located and reasonably priced. This is my second stay there.
The hotel was clean, the staff was professional and polite, very wel-qualified and approachable. This hotel is a 5 minute walk from Chamartin station and after we checked in we were on the metro and in the city center about 15 minutes later. Great value for the money, for a 3 or 4 star hotel in Madrid
hotel location close to the train station so that helped us a lot. good staff and service. good restaurants close by and a very good breakfast spread. staff helped us many times rooms and bathroom were ok.
Big rooms, good service, clean, warm, rich breakfast.. If you don't have high expectacion from a hotel like spa, pool bla bla.. that Chanmartin would be a good choice for you. It's a bit far from center.
Tryp Chamartin is one of the best family hotel you can find in Madrid. The staff is very efficient and friendly. Rooms are quite big and well equipped. The bathrooms are big and comfortable. Breakfast very yummy. Common areas kind. Overall a very good experience where you really feel Madrid hospitality. Also good connection with public transportation
I wouldn't recommend it ... rude staff ...poor internet connection in the room, you can't set up your own air conditioning system ... and if you ask at the front desk staff , the answer is "go and get a complain to the manager" ...sadly they just don't care about provide solutions to the host even if they do have it ... the only good thing I can see about this hotel is its location ... other than that, there are better options around the area ... cheaper and friendly ...
Was sent to our office in Madrid for training. Not what you expect just before Christmas but what can you do? The accommodation was booked by our Spanish colleagues for its "value for money" and location to the metro. Arrived on the Sunday check in was a breeze and the room was more than satisfactory! Superb large room and spotlessly clean! Also a stunning view of the nearby 4 skyscrapers of Madrid! A brisk 5 minute walk to the metro and away you go. Was very impressed with Madrid and will visit again as a city break. The Tryp Madrid charmartin hotel is good value. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is more than adequate and plentiful in choice. Will stay here again. Looks very old fashioned from the outside but never judge a book by its cover.
It was my second Tryp hotel in madrid, hotel is nice economic and not expensive bit far from the down town but just 3 minutes walk to chamartin train station, room is small but its fine, minibar was empty whey should always check before giving the room.
