Hotel Meninas4.0 out of 5.0

Ideally located in the city center (near by the Opera), the Meninas is in the middle of a quiet one way street. The staff is really nice and helpful, it is always a pleasure to stop by this place :) I did not rate until 5 stars as the room for a global fresh up need as the windows should be better cleaned, the shower would require to get the joins changed as well as the soap & shower head support. I would have also appreciate a coffee lachine or a boiler in the room. Aside from this, the bed is really good and the service made me forget about the few complains I wrote above :)
This was my second visit in one year. The hotel is great- location, room, lighting, etc. However, I was told to order a cab directly from them to avoid any unwarranted fees. Staff told me it would be 30 euros- flat fee to the airport. However, cab driver (Antonio) charged me 33 euros and told me the hotel charged the extra three euros. I felt this was a bit shady, considering the staff had specifically told me to order the cab directly from them to avoid any extra unwarranted fees and that the total fee would be 30 euros.
Excellent hotel for a private or business trip to Madrid. Perfectly located close to the city centre, but in a calm side street within easy reach of Metro station Opera (less than 5 min. walking distance). The service in the hotel was good, breakfast more than ok and the reception desk very friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit on the small side, but what do you expect in the middle of the old town ? We liked it and will definitely come back on our next trip to Madrid.
Lovely B & B; excellent central location; quiet one way street; really delicious breakfast; near subway so easy access to Madrid's world class art museums; walking distance to great shopping areas; tapas bars all around this area; spacious rooms with quite comfortable bed; multi-lingual, very helpful staff; watch out for taxi drivers who try to charge more than the fixed rate of 30 euros from the airport!
loved this hotel!! rooms are practical, but not small at all. great location and fair prices. great breakfast, rich and diverse. most important thing is the staff - everyone was so kind! (francisco, ignasio) thanks for all your help and hospitality, we loved it! and great English too!
We had a great stay at Meninas: the staff was helpful and courteous and our room (a Junior Suite on the first floor) ample for the 3 of us: our daughter slept in the first room (with a window and sofa bed) and we had a separate bedroom with 2 windows and a large double bed. The pillows were gorgeous! The bathroom was large with double sinks. We highly recommend it: it had a very comptetitive price (which included breakfazt), it was very comfortable, in a lovely neighbourhood with many good restaurants nearby and within 15-20 minutes walk from the so-called museum triangle. We will definitely stay again when next in Madrid!
Very nice staff with great breakfast to start your day of exploring Madrid. Walking distance to most everything. A quiet location close to all the sites and good restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
As they say in the real estate business, its all about location. My wife and I spent 10 days in Madrid and stayed at the Hotel Meninas. The hotel itself was perfect for our needs. Small, comfortable hotel, with a helpful staff. We had breakfast included which offered a nice selection of options. Clean, spacious, quiet and attractive located on a side street NOT a busy boulevard. As far as location goes, as we say in NY "forget-about-it" You cannot get a better location. About a 30 second walk from a taxi stand which always had taxi's available and about a 45 second walk from the Opera metro station. Oh and let me add, about a 10 minute walk to Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Cathedral de Almudena, Mercado San Miguel and the Royal Palace. Reasonably priced free wifi. Would certainly stay there again.
Cute boutique hotel in a quiet(ish) street close to the opera house, therefore the palace, cathedral, subway, lots of places to eat etc. Comfortable rooms with a lounge. Two single beds pushed together (so maybe no double beds?) - that was not a problem for us. We only stayed two days so resupply of linen was not a problem. Our towels were changed daily. We had a room overlooking the street which meant we had daylight. There was some street noise but not enough to be an annoyance. Breakfast was basic hotel fare but adequate (the Spanish don't do black tea so bring your own. There was a blackout one breakfast. Intimate lighting! I don't think i can blame the power failure on the hotel. Relaxing lounge on the ground floor with a library. Staff were happy and helpful though english was limited. 30-40 minutes from the airport or in our case15 Take a look at the stairs leading up - alot of feet have been on them!
The location of this hotel is great. In a quiet street, but half a block from a lively plaza by the Opera. The Metro is a block away and takes you wherever you need to go in the city. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is really good. They also serve dinner, but I didn't try it. The reason why I didn't give it five stars is that the room I had was facing the interior courtyard and it was very dark. Other than that it's a fine small hotel.
