Just got back from a long weekend here. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The place itself is basic, but very very clean. I was a bit worried about having to share a bathroom with other people but there are three bathrooms and I did not have to wait once. They are also cleaned very frequently because they were always spotless. The breakfast is simple but a nice touch, bread/toast ham and cheese with tea/coffee/orange juice and cereal if you fancy it. Literally slap bang in the middle of all the action! Will stay here again :)
Right in the centre of the main part of Madrid, they have WiFi on all floors, bit of a strange set up, you go to one door and ring the bell then we were upstairs which is through another main door but bed was comfy and shower was good. Sheets & towels smelled so so fresh. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin so once people start moving around early in the morning you will hear every sneeze. Brekkie room is a smidge small so any more than 10-12 people in there at the time and it's a squash to get your toast & tea!
This hostel is in an excellent location right in the centre of Madrid meaning that most sites are within walking distance. We booked a room with a private bathroom and this was simple, suiting our needs .Unfortunately the walls were a bit thin with other guests being loud late at night, but otherwise I would recommend this for good location on a budget.
The hostel was pretty good.Had it's own individual rooms as well.I was never disturbed by any of the other guests. It's located at a great and very central spot of Madrid.Clean and tight, and fairly cheap. The stuff very polite ,helpful and friendly ,with the only disadvantage being that almost no one was speaking English as it said on the ad.But then again,no one else spoke English in Spain :P :) I 'd chose it again :)
This hostel is one of the most brilliant cheap stays I have ever been in. A small room with beautiful terrace, a lovely, simple but great breakfast, kind staff, incredible position and cheap price. Very happy with our choice.
Despite initial reaction when walking in off the street, this is a great place to stay, the lady on reception could not be more friendly, the rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The central location is perfect for sightseeing/restaurants etc. Only problem some may have is with the noise from the plaza del sol outside which is very lively all night but personally this was not a problem. Would stay again!
We were here 3 nights with my friend. Room was very simple, small and regular, but clean. No fridge, so no place to keep your beers/water cold. Breakfast was very simple, just coffee/tea toast with cheese/ham and marmalade. Some cereals also. But if you want something else, there's bakery/coffee shop just in next door. Service was really nice, friendly and helpful! Immediately when we arrived, the lady in reservation desk showed us from the map all the places where to visit. She's so likeable person. Location is perfect, in the square of puerta del sol. You can walk to almost every attraction in 15-20 minutes. So if you want clean place with air condition and shower to sleep in reasonable price, choose this hostel!
I wish the Spanish tourist authorities would define “hostal” because I stayed in three with completely different standards – one was a fire trap with no lift, shared WC, shower with no privacy or maid service, while another was very good and this one was pretty good. It is in a great position on the Puerta del Sol and my top floor room opened onto a terrace with a great view of the square below and the surrounding buildings, some decorated with statues. It had a bathroom and was cleaned every day, offered a basic but unlimited breakfast service, wifi and had friendly staff. The windows were double glazed and I was not disturbed by the racket outside as I had feared. The drawbacks were the fact that the room was cramped, with old fashioned furniture, and the lift did not reach the top floor so you had to carry your bags there. The place also occupies a couple of floors in a commercial building and you need to carry a set of three keys to get in and out. So what is a "hostal"? It´s not a youth hostel, it´s not a bed and breakfast and it´s not a hotel. My advice is to check in advance because Madrid is full of them.
-> Localization - The hostel is placed in the 4º floor of a building in plaza del sol, right in front of apple store and metro station "Vodafone Sol" so you are staying in the heart of Madrid's night and close to every point of interest. -> The cleaning wasn't bad but wans't good either. The shower was a little dirty in the wall and the eiderdown had a little bit of fuzz. -> The room and the toilet was very very small. -> The breakfast was too poor. It only had white bread, margarine and a toasted cookies with milk, coffee and tea. The breakfast room is too small. -> The satff was nice but wouldn't speak any language rather then spanish. For the price (60€/night) I can't say that was worth it unless for the very good localization!
If your looking for a place where you don't need to waste money on transportation, this hostel is certainly for you. We made a 3 day trip and we get to every, every, places by foot, madrid is not so big anyway. The room is simple with a bed, tv and closet, we paid more to have private bathroom, and it was very small, theonly good thing was the hot water. For a 60€/night hostel the cleanness should have been better and the bed sheets seemed like they weren't changed... :S The staff were nice, but couldn't speak other languages rather than Spanish, Iam portuguese and tried to spanish my portuguese or speak in english and neitheir seem to have gone very well, although the portuguesespanish seemed to work better... The breakfast was a complete disappointment, the only thing to eat was white bread (that you had toaster for it), cereals, milk, coffee, tea and butter.. It was far too bad..
