The stay at this hotel had some serious issues. One may also call it a health and safety issue. There was a blood stain or what appeared to be one on the comforter that you take out of the closet for the bed. The bed itself only has a flat sheet and a fitted sheet. The fitted sheet itself looked like it as in bad shape as well with some staining, but the main issue was the comforter as you can tell in the photos. This was only discovered on the day of checkout when the room was lit with daylight and you could see the condition of the linens. In addition to that, there was also a random blonde hair in the sink area and our party of two don't have a blonde hair on our bodies. Would like to know why and how exactly a comforter in that condition was in a room let alone used by a guest.
We stayed here for four nights before transferring to a more central tourist hotel in Madrid. There were two very big events happening when we were in Madrid and the more central hotels were very pricey. We knew this hotel was a bit out of the way for tourists and thought we'd use the metro or taxis to get where we needed to be. The taxis were reasonable in price and the metro easy to use. Also, by staying at this hotel, we were able to walk and dine with the locals. It's not a tourist area. The front desk staff was helpful and on one occasion, the man behind the desk went out of his way to help me with a problem involving my suitcase. The staff always greeted us when we entered the building. There is a room service menu but it's not available on the weekends. The soup and pizza we ordered from it were very good. Since others on TA had mentioned the noise level, I did ask for a quiet room and we had a room on the fifth floor and at the front. I'm a pretty light sleeper. You could not hear any voices from within the hotel or from the streets but occasionally there were vehicle noises. In North America, I always marvel at the jazzy carpet designs used by the Marriott chain. It was our first stay in a European Marriott and they don't have that colourful carpeting. There was no carpet in the room and we found this to be the usual as we traveled through Spain. Our room had a small sofa, tv, and ample places for luggage and was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a European shower. We were not offered a free breakfast for being gold members but were offered free use of the in-room mini bar. The breakfast room was large. There were the usual offerings you find at a European breakfast buffet. This hotel worked for us as tourists but it is primarily designed for business people. Most often there was a taxi waiting just outside the front doors and the Metro was close by. If you need a place to eat nearby, The Two Amigos is a pizza place ($) and is to the right out the hotel's front door. It's a few minutes walk. The owner speaks English. There's another spot we went to twice that is about a seven minute walk from the hotel: Los Montes de Galicia ($$$) and its rated very high in TA. There are other eating establishments in the area but these are the two we tried and we liked them both. Staying here was a positive experience for us. Finally, loved the little jar of chocolate that we found in our room. What a nice treat!
Had a very brief stay at this property and the best part was location. The rooms are small. They did not throw in free breakfast, despite me being a Marriott Platinum member. Instead the amenity they offered was free mini bar - which was unfortunately not too useful for me. However, the hotel was very generous with extended check out timings. Check in and check out was really smooth. The main bus station/ metro station at Avenida America is really close by. What I want to highlight however, is that I arrived at 6AM in the morning and while I was at reception counter, a local guy tried to distract my wife by dropping in a few euros while another one tried to flick away her sling bag (kept on the sofa). Spain is hotbed of pickpockets and these pickpockets cannot thrive without support from local authorities and local public. The hotel should and must do its part adequately to ensure people who come in the premises have a valid reason to do so, in order to ensure the safety of its guests
Needed to stay here for a night due to our flight being cancelled. Check in was quick, staff was nice but don't expect any above and beyond service. Room is outdated but bed is decent enough for sleep. There was lingerie (like Victoria Secret sexy time lingerie) left behind from the previous guess and half a water bottle was left in the mini fridge. This is not acceptable and made me doubt whether they even clean the rooms. I brought the lingerie downstairs and the half-drunk water and showed it to the front desk. They apologized and that was that. Breakfast is not included (even as a Marriot Gold) but included the mini bar which didn't have much (and half drunken water bottle). If you need a quick night sleep then this place will probably work for you. It is no frills and don't expect much.

I stayed for 10 days in a business trip, the location was very convenient and close for me, but maybe it is not an ideal location for a tourist I would assume, although Avenida de América metro station is 5 minutes away and can take you anywhere! The location has couple of supermarkets and variety of restaurants and cafes around so it is really nice area to stay at. I booked the single room which was small but more than enough for one person, it has all kind of amenities I needed, good room services and very delicious breakfast. I liked the most having Nespresso coffee machine that is available throughout the day (at a cost outside breakfast time) and also the vending machine at the lobby area. The restaurant area after breakfast time was generally quite, I have used it several times to catch up on work for couple of days and I have noticed some others had business meetings in there as well. The hotel staff were super friendly, can speak English fluently and are happy to support and help if anything is needed at anytime. Before booking the hotel I read some reviews that rooms were noisy, I did ask for a quite room and they gave me a room on 6th floor which was very quite and I didn't face any issues. All in all, was a great stay, I will definitely stay again at this hotel next time I am in Madrid.
Wife & I stayed here, our first AC experience. Not bad at all, good service and rooms were nice. Close to the Cartagena metro station which is convenient. Everyone was nice, hospitable and spoke good English. Would stay again
3/5 stars because the staff was friendly-enough and the bed was comfortable. You can get a good night sleep, which is very important, as well as get some work done (also very important). The tub shower (odd for Europe) is good but you have to climb over the toilet to get in. Both the hotel, and the neighborhood around it, are relics of the 60s or 70s. There is no charm here, no modern European design, and I kept thinking that this is what the old Soviet hotels must have been like. Beyond the lobby, the common areas smell like stale cigarette smoke and the "fitness facility" a mere closet. If you need to be in this neighborhood, this is probably the best choice. Otherwise, keep searching. Even as a Gold Marriott member, I'll forgo the earned points (btw, received zero special treatment for my elite status) and stay elsewhere in Madrid next time.
I am continuing from FairEvaluator's review I read before I came to this hotel or to be precised, among the many reviews I read in finding and choosing the hotel. I am still at the hotel and will be here for another 4 days. I never had to review a hotel while I am still here because I have too many things to do but this one is an exception. Actually, I had wanted to send this on my second day here. I go to a Marriott because of the security, comfort, reliability and user friendly as a business traveller, they kind of assisting my business matters, but I am not getting the last two here. I saw many business people arriving at the hotel the last two days so I guess it is hotel for business people like me as reviewed by others BUT… This is my first time in Spain so may be the hotel practice is different for a Marriott in Spain? Do not know and something I hope that Marriott would be able to let me know so I can do further research the next time I travel to a different Marriott in another country..eh..and further consideration whether I should come to an AC Hotel by Marriott or look up for a Marriott specific. Plus points: 1. Check in was smooth and the front desk entertained my query about possible upgrading. Clear explanation was given although I know he is struggling with the English. 2. Location was good, easy access by 2 metros. Coming to my grievances: 1. Bath toiletries and towels were not for two eventhough I booked for two persons, and there were just shampoo, bath gel, comb, tissues (this is new) and shower cap. So I eventually asked for more the next morning as I did not want to bother the housekeeping in the evenings, they sent me more stuffs including body lotions (ehm...that is interesting). So I went to let them know at the front desk that the baths were not prepared for two people but upon returning from business, the toiletries are still unpredictable and still a pair of washers. Ehm...I thought, Fair Evaluator just commented on this and had been responded by the manager but....ehm... The next morning, I also called to request for a toothbrush as I usually did not bring this as I like to travel light but I am not… so I chose my cloths over my toiletries BUT they say that they did not provide...(this is not normal for me...) you have tissues but not disposable toothbrush in a business-goers hotel..? I luckily this time did brought one from a Marriott hotel I recently stayed in Malaysia and hopefully it last for the next few days more... Mind all that I do not collect toiletries ok..but I depend on them for ease of travels. Oh, the third day, I called again for toiletries because they did not replenish it and I got these (photos attached), I bag full of toiletries...I just asked for bath gel and shampoo and this is what was delivered. Ehmm...is this how a Marriott service is, not presented but dumped at..Yesterday, they still did not replenish the toiletries for two and for all items but then we had left the bag of toiletries on the trolley so maybe they think we had been delivered..no sense of presenting it as we usually get at hotels... 2. Laundry - I attached a number of photos to illustrate what happen. I do not like how they handle your laundry. The first time, I receive a weird and REALLY smelly smell from the scarves I received. I send a number of clothings but only the scarves were smelly, the front office agreed and had it resent. Luckily I had others to wear. But, it came to me whether they did wash it again or just spray more good smelling stuffs because upon return, it smells of strong perfume. It is expensive to my standard but it only has a day service, no overnight service even for pressing only. Sent in the morning and it gets back to you by late afternoon or early evening. And, they stapled 2 TIMES a number tag to each of your clothings..Oh this is HAZARDOUS to your clothings..luckily I am a lady, I can say for sure that if it is my husband, he would easily torn some of his. It is not a small staples but bigger staples...even on my cotton scarves so I do not dare to send my silk scarf. I do not want any permanent ugly holes on my scarves or clothings. I did not see it the first time but as I put on my blouse, I felt a thingling thing and double check I saw the staples. As shown in my photos. You have to carefully use your nails to unpicked these staples. Well…. ask your administration people how to unpicked these kind of staples..it is not easy.. I don't thing that is how you should handle laundry at this establishment....I would have let the front desk know but I just do not have the energy and time to make sure they understand...here, you can try to google translate and ask me further at another time. 3. Unassisting staffs. May be not all but should not be the front desk staffs. I always ask the help of the front desk to help with my mails, usually mailing my postcards, birthday cards to an overseas address. I do not even have to find stamps for them..This was what I did even in a Marriott in Pennsylvania, US as I need to mail a birthday card to my daughter and Malaysian Marriott. But it is not so here. I asked to help me mail my cards: birthday and good luck to my children but they asked me to go and find the stamps somewhere 1-minute walk from the hotel. I did but could not find the establishment and because I am too worn out, I just came back and retire to my room for the day. Actually, I have been going around for the stamps and was hoping that the hotel could assist at the end. At first she seems to have understood my request but after I had brought down the cards, she then ask, "Would you need stamps for these?" I definitely say "yes!" So then she asked me to go and look up for it some shop outside the hotel about 1-minute walk. I did but I did not find it. I thought may be she would inquirer when she sees me coming into the hotel and not dropping the cards to her but she did not and she did not even inquirer whether I got it or not...there we no guest and she was at the desk. I did not even look at her..it was just unpleasant... I went up and my card did not work, I had to come down again to activate the card still she did not inquirer and there is no house phone at my level. Usually if I could call to let them know of the problem, the staff would run up to bring me a new card..in a different country and different Marriott location. And, this morning, we were disconnected from our wifi. When we called, they gave us a new password..ehm..I booked for a number of days and doesn’t we should be given that length of time for room access and wifi connection? Do we have to continuously go down to get access? I am tired for my business, please ease our stay and other things… This is my fourth day at the hotel and maybe more to come??? Why did not I leave? Convenience I guess..they still serve you at their personal level…
I spent few days when visiting Madrid in March with my wife. We took a room for 2 people as mentioned in the reservation and the room had two beds. We found towels only for one person in the room. A new set was delivered when requested at the reception. Next day the same situation. On top they did not delivered new gel and shampoo, but the left over from the previous day. Again all issues fixed after a call. My real "BUT" is when on the 3rd day the issue was there upon our arrival to the room. My complain was more "energetic" at this time. Just apologies. If I found the problem on a potential 4th day I would have considered very disrespectful. To my good luck I was there only 3 days. Please soap is cheap. Deliver the bottles no matter how much is left and make sure towels are in the right number. The rest about this hotel as mentioned by other travellers-
