The hotel was clean, the staff was so friendly and accommodating for our early arrival. This hotel is perfect right next to the ferry to Mackinac Island so we just walked right over which was super convenient.

When we first arrived at 4pm to check in the front desk attendant said it would be another 15-20 minutes before we could get into our room. When we came back 20 minutes later we still were waiting outside the room until housekeeping was finished. Check in was at 4pm, we were able to have access around 4:30pm. No big deal. The room was clean enough, very outdated especially for the price point. Bathroom tiles were not secure, carpet was oddly wet, patio had what looked like moss growing on it, and the list goes on. They advertised breakfast daily. But only after check in, we found out there was only coffee and a granola bar available. Not what was advertised. It was subpar especially for the price point. I doubt I would stay there again, especially with all of the other choices in the area.

I don’t ever leave reviews but felt compelled. Made reservations for king suite, lakefront. Called hotel directly to confirm this was our room. Upon checking, was told room was only lake view. Asked for lakefront, told none available. Went to room and newrly gagged when we opened the door the mustiness was so strong. I am not I crazy, uppity snood. I come from the country, love camping and am not a picky person but let me tell you. The smell, disgusting. We head out to the balcony and notice the hot tub that looked so nice in the pictures, hasn’t had water in it for years. Moss covering the balcony. 2 minutes later I go hmm, what’s on the screen ….. a fricken BAT! Thank god it didn’t come off the screen and fly into our room. We have a 6 month old baby so I call the front desk for a new room and was given a double queen. Room was fine. Outdated but expected in mackinaw as most are that way so it was fine. Shortly after we are waking down the hallway and see a housekeeper coming out of a king suite ON THE LAKEFRONT. So, why we weren’t originally given that room I don’t know. I feel bad leaving a crap review but that was gross and honestly terrible service for not giving the room we booked for one and then after the musty bat room, telling us there weren’t any king suites lakefront. Definitely do NOT recommend wasting $300/night here!!!!

Staying elsewhere next time

The staff was friendly and professional. The hotel itself was not good. Breakfast coupons send you restaurants where you will over pay using the coupon for average food. Pool was not heated and over chlorinated, irritated eyes and skin. Hot tub not hot just a tiny swirling cold pool. The room had musty smell and mold in bathroom over the shower/tub area. The queen mattress in room had hardware sticking out causing both my children to scrape their shin area, causing physical pain.

You can tell this property has seen better days. The pool on second floor was closed down doesn’t look like it’s been open for a while. The patio had outdoor carpet which had moss growing on it. Only stayed one night

Tried to check out a day early due to the noisy guests on both sides of us. The manager rather rudely refused to reimburse the one day. Won't be going back.

Friendly Staff and Convenience

Our stay at Ramada was wonderful, howecer there could be improvements. The 2 queen size beds was comfortable enough for four average size adults. The staff was friendly and accomodating in regards to replacing clean towels and such. We booked a room with the lakeview so the view was indeed nice. One big plus was it was right next to the ferry to Mackinac Island so that was convenient. Improvements: There was no ventilator in the bathroom. I can't imagine what all the humidity over the years have done to the place and what's in the air. If you have sensitivity issues, this is something to consider. Carpet: I understand carpet is considered comfortable and it could be. However, carpet flooring, especially on the balcony and entryway is not hygienic. It is not ever 'clean' even if you clean it. Wood/Ceramic/Porcelain tiles are better suited for a public space. Perhaps Wyndham could take this into consideration. One of the questions on the review asked about ecofriendliness. Not much could be said about this as the soaps and other toiletries a one time use and in small plastic containers before the hotel disposes them of it. This for instance, is not ecofriendly.

I did a review in Trip Advisor additionally. This property is old. As is so much in the city. I read reviews on every option for staying in the city, I wanted something that you could see the water and not pay upwards of $500/night. I knew the expectations would not be high. Staff and check-in were great. I did ask for sheets for the pullout couch and was informed the couch was ONLY for sitting, which was odd but whatever. Beds were clean and comfortable. All the room photos are true to what to expect. Ac worked well. It was nice we have a bottom floor unit and my kids weee able to go out to the water easily. There is a walkway right in front of the rooms on the lower level that get to the ferry dock so people are passing often. The parking is open with a public lot and the ferry is literally right next door. You cannot see the bridge from here FYI. The pool area is not what is on the booking photo. It was fine and doable, however so heavily laden with chlorine you can hardly sit in the area for long without your eyes stinging. We are from FL and not a stranger to pools, when they are as cloudy with chemicals, it typically is a lazy way to “clean” it, and I would continue with that assessment here. The bathroom was the worst part of the room. It’s certainly tolerable, but don’t look too close of you are picky. The wallpaper was rolling up, the shower head was so old, but did have good water pressure. I did feel like I was going to fall through the tub bottom.

This hotel needs updated. While our room was clean and the staff was very welcoming, the air did not work unless you turned it down to 64 and some of the furniture was broken down. And this last one is no fault of the hotel but the room above us had children jumping off the bed beginning at around 6am- 10am.
