While it was a very, very clean room, it lacked major updating! The bathroom, especially, the shower, was majorly outdated! If it wasn’t for that, it would’ve been perfect!

3-star experience Mackinac island historic hotel

I stayed 3 nights with my mom in September: I paid for us to each have our own Queen rooms. Historic, refurbished hotel with porch, rocking chairs, 2 fire-pits & beautiful lake views. Room issues on check in: bathtub was not clean; AC unit was not working properly. No complimentary water in rooms: water bottles in rooms were expensive: $10 each! There was a water refill station, but it was inconveniently located far from the rooms. Rooms have Fridges, But no microwave. Front desk staff and porters were polite and efficient during check in and check out. WiFi connectivity was strong. Outside hot tub and Heated indoor pool are located on property, but they are in a pool house area with pool house area being an outer building not directly connected to the hotel. No robes or pool towels were provided at the pool or hot tub, so this is not user friendly in colder conditions which sometimes occur even in late summer or early fall in this northern Michigan climate on Mackinac island. No complimentary breakfast- morning breakfast cost at the hotel’s restaurant, 1852 Grill Room, was expensive in $20 range for basic eggs and sausage. On the plus side, the restaurant was upscale with beautiful views of the harbor and the lake, a piano player at dinner and a bar. For dinner, service was good: expensive food was well prepared the cost for 2 people at dinner with tip came out to over $100 for only 2 entrees - 1 fish entree, and 1 special entree (wiener schnitzel ) - and 2 alcohol drinks.

Very clean, lovely lobby and restaurant; beautiful views!!! Perfect location near town, grocery and restaurants. Comfortable beds. Only drawback was needing to take some stairs to 4th floor and in front of hotel. But loved our stay!

Property outside is very nice. Plenty of Seating on porches and yard to enjoy the beautiful views of the Lake and marina. Convenient to shopping area and can rent bikes on hotel property. Bedroom and bathroom very small and uncomfortable.

The island house is a beautiful old hotel on an absolutely fabulous piece of property with beautiful grounds. It has a lot of character that you would expect from 100 year-old Building in a great location super walkable to the downtown area. And the dinner restaurant there was fantastic.
