If you want a nice place to be in the beach with nice food and great service this is the place. Ask for the roasted pineapple or the mint infused watermelon! Also the gins are great. The beach is very clean and the sea view relaxing!

I have now stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions and also read the reviews as it relates to the staff. I think the key for the guests is to exhibit some patience and respect with the staff when you first arrive (whether that is the front desk, beach or restaurants) and you'll be rewarded with amazing service and a high level of commitment. The staff works very hard and any acknowledgement of that makes them work even harder. You do not have to be fake, just a smile and a good attitude. Israel and his team at the Beach area do a great job with service and even made me a custom smoked pineapple mezcal drink that was incredible. Luis at the rooftop seafood bar made some wonderful ceviche and sashimi with the fish I caught. Ulysses assisted with all my food needs. I needed to stay an extra night and instead of them trying to give me a huge price increase on my room and take advantage of the situation, Ronald treated me fairly. Benjamin, the bellman, is still the best and gets me whatever I need. Even the taxi company they use for the airport trips has pleasant drivers. Mark

I loved this hotel. I am a visual artist and my husband is a writer, so we loved the art work and the concept of this truly unique, utterly unpretentious, creative, gorgeous hotel. The service was impeccable and the rooms were impeccable The free bikes and ferry ride to the beach club were nice touches. The roof deck infinity pool and pool-within-a-pool hot tub were outrageously nice. What else? Spacious rooms & common spaces/24 hr gym/lovely drinks/sweet people. My one suggestion would be to turn down the music sound level in the restaurant, though I asked them to turn it down at dinner and they did. This hotel is adults only—even if you have kids back home—it makes it absolutely heavenly. Note: As you can tell, El Ganzo is NOT adults-only in a cheesy couples/singles hooking up/heart shaped bathtub way at ALL (thank goodness). It's just a place where there's no kids. We cannot wait to go back. It was definitely pricey but we felt it delivered a experience that far exceeded our expectations. I don't think the photos do El Ganzo justice. It is truly special.

Showed up Christmas eve for dinner with family and friends. Was turned away because we had an eleven and fourteen year old, we had reservations for 10, never was told was an adult only restaurant and could not bring kids, so had to find somewhere else to eat on Christmas eve. I would have given 0 stars it had to put one to give review.

We stayed here for 3 nights and after high hopes, were thoroughly disappointed by this hotel! The overall beauty of the place, including the views and spectacular rooftop pool area, was unfortunately overshadowed, by bad management, and predominantly terribly slow service, including lack of drink and wait staff (a couple of diligent staff on the rooftop were constantly seen visibly running!). The very expensive food, was also mediocre at best (other than the guacamole). The main restaurant downstairs and the rooftop staff are so slow to complete orders! On one occasion it took close to an hour after ordering, to receive the wrong cocktail! I then accepted it so I didn't have to wait another hour! Another time I was given the wrong check. Room service food was also disappointingly cold, and for example, the most expensive meal on the menu, New York Steak, came overcooked with minimum charring and no sauce eg. no flavor (no salt and pepper on tray either). The best part of that particular meal was the accompanying polenta and vegetables which were not bad. I had already decided not to return because of the lack of service, but we were also horrified at check out when the management staff wanted us to pay an extra US$100 for 2 Steel water containers which we had not used or taken from the room during our stay. We told them we put them in a drawer on check in, as we did not want to use them and they were in the way taking up some of the minimal counter space. On check out they said that they could not find them in the drawer, so they wanted to charge us US$100 for them. As we had no interest in them, and we certainly don't have them, I refused to pay. The management staff were very accusing and rude! The implication was that they preferred to believe that the customer/guest had stolen the water bottles! Maybe a cleaning staff member took the drink bottles out of the drawer as their own souvenir? I actually heard of several thefts during my 4 day stay! This I believe is a Scam anyway, trying to get more money out of guests! Why put SS drink bottles for sale in the room in the first place, taking up valuable counter/table space? The water from faucets in Mexico in general, and including this hotel, is unsafe to drink anyway! Also 2 plastic water bottles were provided in the mini bar free per day. Why not have souvenir SS drink bottles in the shop to avoid clogging up counter space which the guests are after all renting? I enjoyed the art and the creative ideas behind the hotel, but this hotel has major problems to solve!

Spent 4 nights at Hotel El Ganzo recently, and was overall disappointed in the stay. I liked staying in San Jose del Cabo better than the busier Cabo San Lucas. But for the prices that Hotel El Ganzo charges, it does not live up to what would be expected. And this mainly boils down to the service. First day, after arrival, we went up to the pool deck to get just a small bite to eat. Ordered chips and guacamole and California role. It took FOREVER!!! ... close to 30 minutes to get the chips, and when the sushi arrived 30 minutes after that, it contained cream cheese!!! Never have I seen cream cheese in a California Role, and it was not a listed ingredient on the menu. We had a dairy intolerant person with us, so of course it had to be sent back. We didn't want to wait another hour for a new role, so we just asked for more chips. They never arrived. Breakfast was total chaos. We sat at a table for 8 ... orders were taken at different times, by different servers, and the food when it finally arrived, came periodically. Irwin seemed to be the only server who knew what to do! These are only a couple of examples of poor service. If Hotel El Ganzo wants to "play with the big boys" they better up their service, or drop their prices. What they are doing now does not work. The location is beautiful, rooms are basically comfortable (I like a bit more privacy in the bathroom area). At the moment, I would not recommend this hotel to visitors to San Jose del Cabo ....but I would go there for dinner at some future time to see if they have improved.

Our five night stay at the El Ganzo Hotel was very relaxing & peaceful. It is a small, adult only, hotel that is very upscale and modern with a creative/artistic vibe. We had a terrace room overlooking the marina, which was perfect with two chairs & a bed extending the room outdoors. It’s very active in the marina every morning when the sun is rising & the fishing boats are preparing to leave. The rooftop is spectacular!!! The views of beaches, amazing sunsets, chill music & the beautiful infinity pool added much relaxation during our stay!! There is a private beach with cabanas, restaurant and protected ocean for swimming and stand up paddle boarding, which is rare for the area. The staff is friendly and service oriented. We were well taken care of by Israel at the Beach Club restaurant. We had lunch there every day & really enjoyed the guacamole, chips, and spicy shrimp dish and our conversations with Israel. Antonio is the Captain at the Downstairs restaurant and took care of us most evenings along with Victor, Irvin & Rene. We had some challenges with the morning breakfast staff because English is not their 1st language & their pace was a lot slower than we desired. I ordered the same dish at breakfast & dinner three times and it was different each time, which was a bit disappointing because the first time was always the best. Make sure you thoroughly review your bill when checking out. We found a charge on our room that wasn’t ours & it took time & showing proof from my smartwatch that I was sleeping to get the front desk to remove it. Overall if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Cabo stay at the El Ganzo Hotel. It is in a secluded area away from San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The beauty & slow pace provide a very relaxing vacation!!

THEFT BY HOTEL STAFF The absolute worst service we have ever experienced in all areas of the hotel. ** THEFT BY STAFF ** We had out items stolen by hotel staff during our stay (cell phone and wallet), and management simply denied any responsibility and refused to cooperate with police. Ronald (manager) requested the police park off-site as to not give a bad impression. During the remainder of our stay, several of the more friendly employees told us "off the record" that the hotel had proof that a member of their staff was responsible for the theft, (it was on the security footage) and he had not shown up for work since the incident. However, to protect the image of the hotel, management denied any knowledge of the incident, leaving us with $1000's of dollars of stolen property/cash and hours worth of inconvenience to replace credit cards, IDs, cell phone etc. Although there were a few employees who went above and beyond to help us out, in general, the staff are completely incapable of completing basic tasks such as coming to the table to take an order, bringing the right food to the table or dropping the check when asked. A typical meal went like this: Seat yourself as there were 8 people standing there, but nobody to greet you. Get your menu from someone else's table, spend 20-30 minutes trying to flag one of the 8 peoples attention to place the order. Then wait... typically 30 minutes more for the first course or coffee. It was a miracle if even after the 30 minutes the food/drinks would even show up. It was an effort to get anything in this place. After our room was "cleaned", the surfaces were sticky from food and drinks being there, and we had a half full coffee cup sit on our dresser for 4 days. This hotel is beautiful, and the concept is great, but we will never be back after such a negative experience, and I would NEVER recommend spending a fortune to stay in a hotel where you cannot trust the staff with your personal property.

The overall design of the Hotel El Ganzo and its location are great for a relaxing getaway - my wife and I spent three days/nights there - but it lacks the attention to detail that would make it an exceptional property overall. First the good things: -- Hotel layout is good with its two pools and its beach property (which is across from the main property accessed by hotel pontoon taxi). -- Rooms are well-designed, comfortable and good-sized. We stayed in a jacuzzi room which had a nice patio and jacuzzi which we used once (kind of) -- The two pools are nice and well-designed. We enjoyed both of them but the hotel was fairly empty during our mid-week stay. Not sure if we would have enjoyed them as much if the hotel was more crowded. -- The gym was adequate. Now, the bad: -- It's marketed as an art/artist hotel but that detail is poorly executed. There are some attempts at artistic elements but they come across as very quick and cheap attempts to deliver creative flavor and instead are just, well, tacky for the part - e.g., painter's tape (some of it peeling on the ends) forming geographic patterns on some walls just don't do it for me but hey, art is a personal thing...Oh, and the cartoon paintings of Willy Wonka on the front of the hotel, well, never mind... -- Service needs a serious upgrade except for the service at the beach property which is good. At the main hotel property, there seems to be more than adequate staffing but no one seems to know who is doing what - e.g., an hour after we received our room service order, we were called and told someone would be coming to pickup our trays. We waited up but no one ever came. A request for water or more coffee at the main restaurant could take 15 minutes or longer - no exaggeration! At the rooftop pool, two different staffers might ask you to sign the same bill twice... -- I hate to say this, but we had one waiter at breakfast who was obviously trying really hard to impress us with his grasp of English that he misunderstood much of what we were saying and vice versa, thus making each breakfast experience very frustrating. I don't think he had much service experience and his overconfidence really worked against him, or maybe I should say, against us! -- The food isn't what it's marketed to be - it's okay but far from the great quality the hotel touts. The sushi rolls aren't made with sushi rice and the rice is undercooked. And all they put cream cheese in all the sushi rolls - even when the menu description for that roll doesn't say anything about cream cheese. They drown their sashimi dishes in an overpowering salty citrus sauce that ruins the sashimi. Ugh! -- Lastly, the staff all seemed like very nice people but could be better trained to be more proactive instead of being reactive to guest requests. I'm sure this is due to lack of experience but management should really implement better standards and training. I kept seeing staffers walk around with clip boards intently checking things and taking notes. The property would have felt more warm and welcoming if those staffers would have looked up to offer a smile and check on their guests. Overall, it's a nice property with the potential to be exceptional but far from exceptional in its current state. There are other reviews similar to mine so I honestly wonder if management wants to do what it takes to make El Ganzo an exceptional property or if it's fine with the way things are, "just fine" overall.

This is a very eclectic place. Arts, sustainability, music, etc. Not a chain, but very good customer service. The roof top infinity pool is the bomb! Unbelievable views. Great bar on top. Rooms are very comfortable and all have great ocean/harbor views. Restaurant was very good, though the selections were somewhat limited. Food was very good. No children, great couples getaway. Laid back vibe.
