Holiday Inn Express London - Wimbledon South3.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed in many holiday inns before and this was not one of the best. The room was small but it was clean. My main problem with the room was the lack of light. Even with all the lights turned on it was still not bright enough. Dont stay here if you dont want traffic noise. I was very disappointed with the staff, I found one particular member of staff to be rude and unhelpful. I asked for a wake up call and was told I couldnt have one and to use my phone! The next morning a collegue informed me that he got a wake up call. Go figure!!! Not very professional. On a plus side, the breakfast was good. Lots of variety and nice and hot. There was a large area to eat, lots of tables and chairs. It was ok for one night but would probably try somewhere else next time!
My second time here. Perfect location for a reasonably priced London visit. "South Wimbledon"...? Hmm... Maybe, if you're a Foxton's estate agent. West Tooting more like. Look, it's Colliers Wood - own it and be proud! It's basically opposite the tube and in such easy reach of the city centre - plus it's on the Northern line, so all-night tubes at the weekend. Hoorah! The room was great, very modern, comfy, nice clean bathroom. My only issue was the breakfast. If you're a meat-eater you'll have no complaints. YOU, sir, can build you own bacon bap. But I'm vegetarian. Where were the substitute veggie sausages? If Premier Inn can provide a Linda McCartney sausage of a morning, so can you, Holiday Inn! The woman on reception who I mentioned it to on my departure was spectacularly disinterested in my disappointment - surely the first rule of customer service is to at least pretend you give a monkeys about my stupid problems?! Anyway, I felt a bit cheated - hence 3 stars. But it's not a deal-breaker - I would still stay again.
We got a ground floor room, as requested. It was large & had the standard shower room. The showers are large, with shower gel provided. There was a Handy phone in our room - a mobile with internet & free calls. Breakfast was of the usual good standard. Staff were friendly & helpful. Our only problem was that our room was opposite the kitchen & it was a bit noisy in the morning. Obviously this wouldn't apply with other rooms.
So the 2nd part of our trip we moved to Wimbledon where transport was very easy to the city using the Collierswood station just across the street from the hotel. Once again, the hotel staff was very profession and helpful. We even noticed a few trainees getying some work experience which was a positive focus and reflection of the management's values. Unlike Gatwick Worth this hotel catered to the business professional. Our room was way smaller than the one in Gatwick but it was very cost. We even got a complimentary Handy hand set to use for navigation during our tour of the city. I was totally sold on that!!! We had no complaints at all!
I stayed in the hotel recently for a night whilst in London on a bit of business. The hotel is clean and well presented, the room was immaculate and all the facilities worked but, the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were rock hard, not the good nights sleep I was hoping for. I didn't eat in the hotel because I thought the menu looked a bit bland and dull but there are plenty of good eateries right on the doorstep. On the plus side, the coffee machine in the lobby area was a godsend after a sleepless night and a [ very] early rise.
Conveniently found just by turning right as you exit the Underground. No-nonsense check-in. Clean tidy room with a sparklingly clean shower cubicle and bathroom. Fluffy towels and a good tv provided. WiFi not very quick from room 244. Excellent cooked breakfast ready and laid out for my 06:30 start. Again, no fuss breakfasting. Very acceptable hotel to stay in for a night or two. Remember, its really not in Wimbledon. I would stop here again.
It's just what you need for a short stay, should you really want to be in Colliers Wood. Don't be deceived by the name, it's not in Wimbledon, or even South Wimbledon. Rooms are fine, sound proofing a bit lacking, given it is on a very busy road. Breakfast is complementary and very good. Overall, the hotel is fine but entirely utilitarian.
Clean and pleasant hotel with good access to central London, at half the price of this quality in town. Half a minute from Colliers Wood underground that runs day and night. 20 minutes to Leicester Square. Good breakfast, thick towels(!) and good size rooms.
excellent best place in London Cleaning staff brilliant Reception very nice friendly and helpful will definitely visit again Very central with nice pub Royal standard close and lovely staff there also
I normally stay in central London but opted to try this hotel. It was around 20 mins on the tube tube from Bank and directly across the road from Colliers Wood station. Very easy to get to. Large bar/restaurant area and one of the best breakfast spreads I've seen in a Holiday Inn Express. The goods were good and bathrooms had clearly been recently refurbished. The only thing would be that the room needed a lick of paint just to freshen up the stained walls. Great alternative to central London and excellent prices for rooms. Lots of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes walking.
