This hotel is located next to the Leicester Football stadium and close to town. Rooms are clean but they are small. Moving around the around by two people with a few luggage can be a problem. Facilites provided are basic. Breakfast is simple but good.
Looking around DMU, with my daughter, for their open day and wanted to give her the opportunity to make the most of the city so she could make the most informed decision possible. We stayed here due to the location to the Uni and two of its off campus accommodations that are only a five min walk from the hotel. I didn’t realise how close this hotel is to the King Power Stadium. It’s literally on the opposite side of the road and you need to drive through the football grounds security barriers to enter the car park. Once we’d found our way to the car park we gathered our overnight bag and checked in at 14:10. Friendly check in with the offer (and acceptance) of a complimentary chocolate bar was very welcome; we hadn’t eaten since 7am at Watford Gap Services. Friendly & personable receptionist who happily announced that even though there weren’t any twin rooms available when I booked online, due to my rewards club membership, they’d honoured my request! Excellent service. Room was well appointed and, even though over looking main reception, our sleep wasn’t disturbed. Room was surprisingly spacious, beds were comfy, shower was fantastic. After a restful sleep we enjoyed the usual, lovely holiday inn breakfast; available was cereals, pastries, yoghurt and berries, toast with single serve sachets of jam, marmalade, marmite, Nutella etc. The hit buffet included both meat & vegetarian friendly options and hash browns to die for. The fact that all this is included in the room rate for an adult & a 17 year old is fantastic. We checked out straight after breakfast as we wanted to spend a few hours looking around more of the cathedral area of the city before our 2 hour drive home. Thank you to all of the staff we interacted with. You all came across better than some staff we’ve encountered in 5* establishments. Hopefully my daughter gets accepted to DMU (it’s her first choice uni for sept 2020) if so, I’ll definitely choose to stay here when I visit her. 100% recommended.
Stayed here for one night whilst on a course at the football ground. A basic place to stay. Clean and comfortable and showing signs of wear and tear. Breakfast OK but not brilliant. Staff were friendly and professional. Bar was OK.
Very good value - only £55 for 2 in a twin room, including breakfast and on that basis it was generally fine - clean, comfy bed, good shower, fluffy towels, etc. We had a twin room for 2 and a double room for 1 on our stay (just one night) The niggles I experienced were: - initial receptionist allocated our rooms wrongly and wasn't very polite when we highlighted this. However the receptionist and bar staff I talked to on all other occasions were friendly, polite and very customer service focused - we had only 2 tea bags in both rooms - no coffee, hot chocolate, etc. And very little milk. This was easily remedied by a visit to reception - the air con/heating in my room was not functioning at all The location right next to the King Power stadium is very handy although the tannoy announcements at 8am were not so welcome! There is very little nearby to do or places to eat - although 15 minutes walk would take you to some restaurants or even in to the centre. WE ate dinner at the Blues Grill at the hotel - which was good value and very friendly. The food was so-so but certainly nothing to complain about. .
Excellent value for money staying in this hotel adjacent to Leicester City football ground. Clean and comfortable room, although the double bed felt small as I'm used to a king size. Bathroom was fresh and clean. Breakfast was ok with a reasonable selection considering the price paid.
1st time stay in this particular holiday inn express. Very friendly staff members. Helpful. Would recommend this hotel and extremely good value for money. The entrance to the hotel is a bit tricky but near all the important places in Leicester
Stayed here for convenience, but in reality its just a tad too far out of the city centre. Staff friendly enough. Air con failed during my stay and room was not he front - so got a lot of sun, therefore heat during the day. Should have complained / moved, but then again the air con should be working. Breakfast are practical and sufficient, no evening service. Room fine, although bed quality is noticeably lower than at Premier Inn's.
not far from town centre, right next to football stadium..... (more on that) you have to almost go around the fc to get to the building, this was perhaps as a cycle event was on last weekend. later in the day when they'd packed up you go through a lift up bar gate. happy to get inside to get out of the 30 degree weather. checked in and took lift upstairs. we'd requested a double but they only had twin rooms apparently, and she advised us to just push the beds together... room was clean, comfortable. when we moved the bed to push together there was lots of crisps underneath where the bed was bathroom had squidgey hand soap and body wash, which i liked the idea of. tea and coffee facilities, - would have been nice to have a biscuit in there!! shower was decent, bathroom could be separated into toilet or bathroom as a whole which i like. air con, didn't do much, think it did a little? monday morning was woken up to announcement from stadium about an incident in the stadium and everyone should exit at 8;30 ish. not what a nice relaxing morning is about hahaah. free breakfast was ok, choice of cereal, muffin, croissants, toast with different spreads fruit, egg, beans, sausage and bacon. only read at the bottom of the menu they did quorn sausages on request. breakfast room was very busy. check out was fine
Stayed for 3 nights while we attended a wedding. Could not fault anything. A free breakfast included, this was of a high standard, well cooked and presented. The rooms and all public areas were clean and well maintained. We felt welcomed by the staff, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Booked this hotel 3 months ago as my little boys love seeing the LCFC stadium close up, wrote a email and said it was fine to have a room facing the stadium. Got to hotel on Friday 23rd August 2019 and checked in as normal, nothing was mentioned from the staff of any issues. Went up to the room and found out air con wasn’t working, bearing in mind that day it was 28 degrees. Rang to reception and they sent someone to the room who pressed the buttons and found out it wasn’t working and said she will call the telephone in the room in 10 mins. Sure enough received a call 10 mins later to say we can have a fan 🙄 yes that’s right a small fan. Went to reception and sure enough there wasn’t a fault on the line it was a fan that was offered, oh yea and 50% off just for that nights stay and the offer of moving us to another room the next day. Either wasn’t an option as a fan isn’t going to keep my kids cool in a stuffy room, nor is a 50% discount going to cool my kids down. Asked to speak with a duty manager and sure enough I was speaking to her who offered me a fan. When I protested I was told I can refund (in other words see you later). So as a last resort I decided to contact IHG REWARDS who I had booked through and they were even worse, offered me no resolution, no help NOTHING, was told now that I’ve checked in (I was there for 45 mins) I was out of there hands and it was upto holiday inn express to make sure I have a fantastic stay (honestly their own words). So finally admitting defeat I asked for an alternative and feeling helpless opted for a twin room. Went up to the room and joined both the single beds together to find under one bed really dirty, crumbs, rubbish etc so rang the reception to come hoover up and a few phone calls and trips to the reception 4 hours later someone came and did it. Absolute nightmare, my wife and 2 kids took up the beds so I had to sleep in the chair and waited for the morning. What felt like a lifetime later the morning arrived and got a double room later that afternoon. Went up and the room was facing the car park and trees, completely opposite of where my kids wanted even though I emailed them 3 months in advance, by this stage I admitted defeat, was going to ask the whole point I booked this hotel was to make the kids happy staring out at the stadium, but I realised they had been so unhelpful that there was no point. After coming here 3 times in the past, this visit has scarred and annoyed both me and my wife so much I won’t be returning again, nor book any hotel connected with IHG in the future both were bad as each other. Terrible, never again. When the offer of a refund was made I looked at other hotels but everything was booked as it’s bank holiday weekend, otherwise I would have been out of here like Lewis Hamilton, sadly I had drive 200 miles with 2 children who were tired, crying and drained that’s why had to put up with everything but never ever EVER again
