We found the room staff and location all to be excellent. The room we had was spacious, well equipped (bar-fridge and coffee machine), comfortable, well-lit and had a small and but practical balcony. The A/C works, though it was cool when we were there, so we scarcely needed it. The location is very near the railway station but quiet (and safe) with a nice green square at the end of the street. The hotel is also only five minutes walk away from one of the best concert halls in Europe - and the other sights of the city are likewise easily reached. Staff were friendly and helpful, including making it very easy to access the parking directly under the hotel (with lift access to reception and rooms). We booked 'half board' and found the food and service generous and of good quality and the staff were kind and helpful about my difficulties in eating. The hotel does not pretend to have a lake-side view, but it does have a nice roof terrace with a good view of the mountains. I would most certainly stay here again if I came back to Luzern.
We stayed here through Viking and found it to be easy to go anywhere by train or on foot. The room is fine and very clean but we wished for a plain top sheet as it was warm and the comforter was too much. The breakfast was good but a little muddled in the kitchen as they had a tough time keeping up. The desk staff was terrific and gave great advice on dining and directions. We love that the property is medium sized and family run.
I chose this hotel because of it's close proximity to the train station and Lake Lucerne. I would choose this hotel again for the same reasons along with how great our stay was. We were greeted at the front desk very promptly and checked into our room. Our room was clean and had plenty of room for two of us along with 2 pieces of luggage. I was concerned about the bathrooms from some of the reviews but I really don't see why anyone had any negative comments. Large and clean with a fantastic tub. My only wish was that there was a bar to hold onto while getting in and out of the tub. In all fairness though, my daughter didn't see it as an issue, only I did. The breakfast was pretty much what we experienced throughout our travels, which we really enjoyed.
Unfortunately the reviews regarding the hotel not giving you the room you paid for are correct. We were given a smaller room that cost around $75 less per night than the one we booked. While we were at reception, another couple was having the same issue!! Very shady and not a good feeling - we were refunded a bit of money but not all. The breakfast is good but we were ignored at dinner and my husband had to keep getting up to ask for things. Loud street below. Not recommended.
polite people always smile and ready to help to fix your pronlem, pick up the transported lugagge from the station for us ,let us sightseeing in Lucern without worry and interruptted. The great service made us feel warm, definitly come again in the next visit.
My husband and I stayed in Lucerne for 2 nights as part as our delayed honeymoon/2 year anniversary. From the moment we arrived, tired and jetlagged, we were welcomed with big smiles and big hearts. I can't say enough about the amazing staff at this hotel. The hotel is adjacent to the train station which makes it very convenient when travelling with luggage. The rooms were bright and comfortable and the staff even went above and beyond by sprinkling rose petals (fake but still gorgeous) over our bed. The breakfast was pretty good as well! I don't know what else to say expect that this was the best hotel that we stayed at during our 2 week adventure. I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Lucerne!
We stayed at this Hotel on August 4 for a night and were hugely disappointed. We had chosen this hotel based on all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor but in reality was the worst hotel among all the others on our trip to Switzerland. To begin with, the one positive and possibly the sole positive of this hotel is that it is merely a few minutes from the train station and the Lucerne Lake. On arrival past 2 PM, our room was not ready and we had to wait almost half hour at the lobby. Once we reached the room, the room was tiny, although they charged us for a triple room. We had a third extra bed shoved at the base of the main bed and there was absolutely no space left to move round. The room overlooked some rundown parking space behind it. But the most aggravating issue of all was that the moment we decided to take a short nap after our long 8+ hour flight from the US, hammering and construction noise began right above our room. The noise was so loud that it was impossible to stay in the room. We called the front desk and complained about the noise but they mentioned that there was some issue in the kitchens and they could not help it. They also did not have another room as they were fully booked. The customer service overall was pitiful and after much discussion, they agreed to refund about 80 Euros off an almost $400/night room. Definitely avoid, simply not worth the price,
I stayed at the Hotel Continental Park in Luzerne for two nights as part of a group holiday. As others have said before, this hotel is very conveniently located, close to the train station and within an easy stroll to all the delights of the beautiful town of Luzerne. My room had a well stocked mini bar, a room safe, air con.... and an umbrella for my use in the wardrobe. But no tea making facilities for an early cuppa! The bed was two singles pushed together but mattress and bedding were extremely comfortable and I slept well. My room was quiet through the night. And the cleaners did a through job next morning. Breakfast was good, a choice of european or full cooked meal and the staff were attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my stay here.
Stayed here on half board for a week in August. Had 2 room - one for 2 people (my parents) and one for 1 person (me). Location - excellent - very convenient for train station (tip - when coming by train rather than leaving by the main entrance, double back along the end platform and after the tourist info etc there is an exit ramp. This takes you out right by the zebra crossing you need for the hotel which is then about 20m further on. Not much street noise heard. Rooms - both on 4th floor - the one for 1 person was down a short flight of steps. It had a small balcony. Strangest feature was the bathroom had no door at all, and only a frosted screen separating it from the bed area. Fine when used as a single room, but it was made up as a double so could be a little inconvenient then. Other than that the room was fine and well equipped and the bed comfortable. The room for 2 was slightly larger but had no balcony. And it did have a bathroom door! (sliding frosted coloured glass). Maid service was very friendly but a little erratic, strange as both rooms were on the same floor. On 2 occasions my parents’ room had not been made up when we returned mid-afternoon, yet mine had. Food - breakfast selection excellent. My criteria for a good hotel breakfast always consists of "is the coffee strong and is there a variety of bread". Yes to both! Choice of coffee from machine, or staff would make you one. Also variety of teas and juices. Nice choice of fresh bread/rolls. Also sausage, bacon, egg, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, cereal and pastries. As we were on half board we had booked dinner as well. I don't think many guests do this. Unfortunately our stay coincided with the kitchen being closed for renovations, so all evening meals (hotel has a restaurant) were provided by the barbecue area in their garden. I thought the hotel could perhaps have notified us of this change in advance. This meant a very limited selection of main courses, all of which were accompanied by jacket potato! After 2 nights of this we did speak to someone, and to be fair they did then ensure that we had a different choice - eg pasta as well each night. But any meat or fish choice still came with jacket potato! The starters were a good variety and one of the desserts (simply described as chocolate cake) was the most sublime hot chocolate melt in the middle pudding I have ever had the pleasure of eating!! Full credit to the waiters (it wasn't easy for them having to go outside to collect the food from the barbecue!!). They were all extremely friendly and helpful - eg remembering we liked a jug of water each night. Particularly Mamo who went overboard to make us feel welcome. Staff – all very friendly and spoke excellent English. Luzern itself – a lovely city, and as I mentioned before the hotel is very conveniently placed for the train station, lake, river, Chapel Bridge etc. The staff in the tourist office (located in the station) were friendly and helpful. I had researched beforehand the best pass/ticket for the trips we wished to do, and settled on the 5 day “Tell Pass” (240 CHF from the toursist office, although can be bought online.) This sounds expensive, but covers every single possible mode of transport you would need, be it bus, train, boat, cog railway, cable car etc. Also discounts on museums. We had days out at the following – all superb: Mt Titlis – tell pass covers the whole return trip from Luzern to Engleberg by train, then both stages of the cable car to the summit, and then the chair lift, ice cave etc. Mt Pilatus – we did the golden round trip in reverse – bus to Kriens, cable cars to top, cog railway down and boat back, again all covered. Mt Rigi – boat to Vitznau, cog railway to top, then cog and cable car down Weggis and boat back. All included with Tell Pass. Then Mt Stanserhorn – train there and back, and all cable cars to the top again included. We had one wet day where we did not venture up a mountain but instead took a short bus ride to the Swiss Museum of Transport and got a 6CHF discount on entry with the Tell Pass. Amazing museum – we were there about 5 hours! In summary, a very enjoyable stay at the Continental Park – almost gave it 5 stars, but the unfortunate lack of variety of food in the evening knocked it down to 4 in my estimation.
We were a family of 3 who stayed here in two adjoining family rooms in July. This is a great located hotel just 5 minutes from the Lucerne Train station. Good location as it is close to all major attractions (and there are not too many in Lucerne). This is a well appointed Hotel in a great part of Lucerne. The Hotel seems fairly new and the rooms itself were done up in Ikea like furniture. Good, functional. Rooms were a decent size. What I sorely missed was having a Coffee/Tea maker in the room. Why Hotels cringe on this is something that beats me. The reception folks were always very helpful, giving advice and helping with locations, etc. We had Breakfast in the Hotel on two days and it was pretty adequate without having anywhere close to the variety of other similar 4 star Hotels. I also had a bit of an argument with the Manager on the 2nd day, who was downright rude. I was tempted to give a 3 rating for my stay as a result and gave it 4 since there is no provision for a 3.5. This was a decent stay - overpriced for the quality and for the rudeness of the Manager.
