Stayed for 2 nights. Overall pleasant stay with great hospitality. Pro: -Great location, Public bus station, Sub-way within 5 mins walk. -Main Shijo / shopping area within 10 mins -Clean, tidy room, comfy bed with good quality toilet amenities. -Public bath at ground floor until 1am. You can experience traditional Japanese culture without going out. -a Family mart is located next to the hotel lobby, so that you could grab quick bite in the morning or supper. -cheap food and a super market (Fresco) nearby. You won't be bored at mid-night Cons -Room are small compares to other Mitsui hotels in Kyoto -Public bath area is not clean , tidy enough maybe its busy even in the mid-night.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Kyoto this one is descent. The room was nothing special and a bit worn out. The hotel does have washing machines which is a plus and the hotel is situated in a good neighborhood with lots of restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the nearest station. Although if economy is not an issue I would look for a better hotel next time im visiting Kyoto.

Great experience at Mitsui Garden! We explored Tokyo from here and the location was fantastic. Recommend getting the subway pass when you stay here because it's right on the Tokyo metro Oedo and Fukutoshin lines. Very easy to get around as a result. Only a few minutes from Kabuki-Cho, Golden Gai, and Memory Lane (aka Piss Alley). The room was small but that's normal for Japan in this price range. We are a couple and found it to be totally adequate. The shower and bathroom were great.

We stayed here recently as part of a self-guided tour from Inside Japan. This hotel was very nice with comfy beds and a nice spa. We were able to do our laundry at coin operated machines, which was very welcome. Breakfast was pretty elaborate, which lots of choices and a huge room. We saw lots of tour groups from England and Australia staying here. I would recommend this hotel - with two caveats. One - our room was reserved as a 'twin room' - and we ended up with two beds which we asked to have converted to a king/queen. They were willing, but seemed confused - I don't think there was any option to book other than twin (as we booked a year in advance) - so you may want to add a note about t his to your reservation if you prefer one bed. Also, the location is good, but not awesome. It's still a 10 min walk in either direction to a metro. Not ideal with suitcases. We did find a very good restaurant across the street - Hamburg Lodo - highly recommended!

Breakfast is good. The location is not bad since I can walk to many places. There should be more outlets but since the room is standard Japanese hotel room size, the number and location of outlets are acceptable. I should say I will come back again later.

Ok the room was small but it's a standard in Japan. We've stayed 5 nights and had very few contact with the reception. We took our breakfast outside and we wanted a European breakfast, we went to Holly's cafe every morning, 5 min. walk from the hotel. The service is ok and the hotel well situated in a nice neighbourhood. It's perfecly situated in Kyoto with many shops, restaurants...around the area. The most enjable is the public bath every night for free. The wifi is not so good in the room (depending on the time you connect).

Well located and nice rooms. Easy walking distance to transport, shopping and many of the main tourist locations. Staff are very helpful and they have a dedicated tourist assistants who are familiar with all the local attractions.

Very affordable prices and great value for money, rooms are small as per Japanese standard but I personally like it as it feels a lot more cosier. Room was very clean, friendly staff who always greets you when you walk pass the reception counter, amenities were amply provided. Did not make use of the public baths as I prefer private ones. Location was good, walking distance to the Karasuma and Shijo stations as well as the tram station that can take you to Arashiyama bamboo path. There is a Family Mart and a Fresco nearby, so lots of cheap fresh food and snacks options. Would stay here again.

This is a perfectly decent hotel. The location is good, a three block walk from the subway and on a number of bus routes and within easy walking distance of downtown and the shopping and markets. But. The room was tiny, and quite dingy. The double bed was comfortable but barely larger than a single. Breakfast was fine, but expensive so we only tried it once. Wifi would have been free but didn't reach our room. Shower was good, but bath was barely a meter long. There are only two lifts, but they are fast so we had no problems. Overall we hoped for more of a boutique feel, but it was adequate. A standard business hotel, but with the caveat that the wifi may not cover you.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel. Understandably very Japanese, but welcoming to overseas visitors. Nice to have in-room hot drink facilities and I was very tempted to steal the pyjamas. I notice other reviewers have commented on the room size. In truth it is quite limited - sitting at the desk was challenging due to the very little space between the bed and the desk. I was in Kyoto on business and would choose a more upmarket hotel for a vacation. However, as a business trip 'place to lay your head', I thought this was okay. The sleep quality score of 'average' is based not on the hotel facilities but on the occasionally noisy arrival of fellow guests.
