The hotel is great, lots of very friendly staff. Local Uber is cheap to get to city (approx 30 RM). You can hang out b the pool, do daily activities offered by the resort or pay to do some of the more detailed activities. If you do not children under 10 then stay in the Ocean Wing to avoid the many children. We went with a 16 yr old and it was great.

If you are eager to pay a bit more, I would highly recommend to stay in the Ocean Wing of the hotel. It is not crowded, has its own breakfast restaurant with a very good selection of food and the pool reserved only for Ocean Wing guests. Fantastic views from the rooms on higher floors. Very nice and helpful personnel. The hotel is located a bit off, so be ready to dine only here. There are a few restaurants in the resort. Though to my level expectations the food is not the major attraction of the hotel but it was still ok. Oceano restaurant was my favorite.

10 Tips about Rasa Ria 1. If you are a golfer........tee off early in the morning to miss the heat and slow golfers! 2. Use Uber.........very reliable and cheap. $30 ringit to get into KK. Use McDonalds to get free WIFI 3. Breakfast is fantastic, so factor into your costs the limited need for lunch. 4. 32.5m pool. Excellent for keen swimmers to get laps in early in the morning. 5. Happy hour at the Sampan. Excellent value for 4 hours. 6. Don't attempt the nature walks unless you are pretty fit. 7. Excellent service...........cold water provide around the pool. 8. Hidden demonstrations at 3:00pm. Taste test the final product! 9. The complimentary beer cools beautifully in the free ice bucket when next to the pool. 10. IMPORTANT: If you don't have kids, pay the extra and stay in the Ocean View Wing! Whilst it's lovely to see the families having so much fun, you don't want to be there! 10 out of 10!

Had a great time here. Definitely one of the best resort I have visited. The beach is amazing huge. But it does come with a high price tag :( Unfortunately January is a rainy season, didn’t get to see the famous sunset view, else it would have been perfect... If I have to be picky, Then I do think shangri-la can learn from other resort in Malaysia that offer even more small surprises.

We stayed end of October 2017 in this Shangri-La Hotel with our 3yrs old son. We had a few issues at the very beginning of our stay, but Brendan and his team solved everything to our satisfaction. The location of the hotel is beautiful, being the only hotel in the bay, surrounded by a golf course and a small rain forest. The beach is huge, however one has to keep in mind that there are virtually no sun loungers at the beach, but only near the pools/in the garden. The Ocean wing seems to be the newer part of the hotel, whereas the garden wing is slightly worn out, however the gardens and the pool are very nice. This part of the hotel is highly recommendable for families as the kid's pool and the waterslide, as well as the kid's club and the main restaurants are located there. The food was overall very enjoyable and the friendliness of the staff outstanding. We would certainly come back.

The resort was lovely and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The locations was amazing and all the amenities were great. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had plenty of options for every tastebud. They were also really helpful setting up the activities and I had a great day out scuba diving.

It was years ago since the last time I’ve came to Rasa Ria Resort Tuaran. A lot of improvement in terms of facilities & staff services. All of the staffs make us feel very welcomed. Highly recommended.

This was our third stay and the whole family enjoyed it. The room in the ocean wing is gorgeous and the happy hour a great idea to speak to other travellers or meet the management team of the hotel. We tried all food outlets, most pleasing onces for us was the indian Naan and the kozan japanese. All employees are very friendly and they seem to like to work for this hotel. Mr Areter working at naan even recognised us from last time. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. Some points Management should observe well in the future: i during high occupancy it can be a problem to get sunchairs at the ocean wing garden. they were often occupied (reserved!) from 7am onwards for groups of people....even so noone shows up until lunchtime...; ii turn down service was a bit hit and miss.

2 week family holiday with 2 boys of 4&6, stayed in the Ocean Wing. Room - Spacious with large balcony (bath + daybed) - had twin beds and if children are young enough then recommend this over King + Sofa bed so there's more space. Minibar refilled daily (4 beers, 4 soft drinks, crisps/cookies) - after a couple of days we gave up trying to consume everything each day :) Glad we chose Ocean Wing as more food & pool options (+ evening drinks) Evening Drinks - 5-6pm very day is free drinks and canapes either overlooking the beach or indoors (weather dependent). This is a nice touch, meet other guests and listen to music with free wine/cocktails & beer. Also, our kids loved the "craft lady" who entertained brilliantly for the hour and gave us a nice relaxing 60min break. Location - Beautiful grounds, pristine beach, well maintained with great sand for running. Great selection of different depth pools from 0.55m to 2.2m. We mostly use Kids pool in Garden Wing and although our room was at opposite side of the resort its a 10min walk with 4 year old legs (no need for a shuttle as some other reviews indicate) Kids Club - Our first couple of visits did not fill us with any confidence to leave our children - simply too many children and not enough staff (peak holiday time). However, once the Xmas rush dropped then it was really well managed. In our 2nd week we left out children each day who loved it, even having their lunch there. Evening kids parties were excellent, well organized, good value and really enjoyed by our two boys. Breakfast - good spread of hot and cold foods, one of the best we have had - even after 2 weeks we weren't bored of the selection. A few more vegetables would be great Weather - arrived in torrential rain with worries for 2 weeks ahead, however, this proved to be unfounded. Regular showers but on the whole glorious sunshine Service - All the staff were excellent, always greeting you with a smile & very courteous. Food Options - Tepi Laut was excellent - having Set Menu/buffet style for many evenings wasn't ideal. Kozan Teppanyaki was a nice experience though a little expensive. Indian was excellent as well, again, a little pricey. Oceana Italian we tried only once and it wasn't the best. Nature Reserve - we went on the Canopy Walk, which was enjoyable and did get you to some great views of the peninsula and good value for ca. 50MYR.....however, actually canopy walk very short - rest of the time is a quite steep walk to the top (and was incredibly muddy after the rain) Mosquitos - To be honest used a spray every night and only has very minor hassles over 2weeks (they preferred the wife!)....not an issue Niggles / Feedback to improve - More staff for kids club during peak periods - We were informed "Movie under the stars" was a cartoon, so we kept our boys up - only to find it was 12 Rated Justice League - not suitable for 4 year old. - Couple of outdoor events were cancelled / moved due to weather - staff didn't seem to know where they had moved to (once we got three different answers) some signage would be ideal - We waited over 5 hours for a Doctor, only to be told that they were unable to contact us (despite leaving mobile number + our location in the resort) - My wife ordered an Ice Cream (instead of Cocktail) in the Lobby Bar - only to receive a soft serve + fruit pastilles on the top....not what she was expecting, when she could have picked up Haagen Daas in the shop Overall, yes some very minor niggles but a fully enjoyable 2 week holiday where we all had a great time. Thank you to the RR team.

We visited here with our two boys of 8 and 13 yrs old. It was a short trip of 4 days - wish we had more. But it was one of the best hospitality that we experienced. The property is of course great with all facilities, lots of games and activities - but best part was the most hospitable people. Always smiling and always helpful. Not always do hotels have this culture of super warm hospitaility. Our only one wish is for this to have more options for vegetarian food. We don't even eat eggs and unfortunately even chefs in most restauranta in the hotel didn't have much idea about cooking vegetarian. Definitely do the jungle walk in morning including the canopy walkway... The reserve is a part of the hotel itself. Enjoy - if you decide to go to Shangri-la, you are in safe hands.
