Where do I start? We stayed for 7 nights half-board in the ocean wing and it was worth every penny! Firstly it's the staff that make this hotel 'up there'. Every member of staff in every area of the hotel go the extra mile to make this such an unforgettable experience in 5* luxury. Jack, peachy, Fenny and Fika thank you for your amazing hospitality and teaching us a few word in Malay and Dusun. Upon arrival we were greeted with a gong, drinks, a cool towel and a smooth check in. We were shown to the room and with excitement checked the place out. The bathroom area is spacious and clean with double sinks, a toilet on one side and shower at the other. L'occtaine toiletries provided and other added essentials if you forget something. There is a good sized hanging space outside (they had a great deal on for laundry so we used the service before check out - no more than 60rm and worth doing). The sleeping and living area was nice and spacious with large comfy beds and a pillow menu provided. The free mini bar is a great bonus to upgrading too! So saving the best until last - the balcony...wow wow wow! The views were amazing looking across the china sea with everlasting sand, ocean and woodland it was just spectacular. The double sized bath was great to use on a warm evening with just tepid water, and of course you get the free complimentary bath too! We loved spending time here. The pool area was clean and tidy and staff were there to assist you when you arrive in the pool and grounds area. Drinking water was provided in iced cool boxes and cool towels brought around whist basking in the sunshine. There was plenty of sun loungers to chill out. You could also have treatments such as reflexology around the beach and pool areas. Another thing that really stood out was the cocktail and canopy evenings starting at 5pm. Our glasses were never left empty and the canopies were tasty. There was a selection of canopy for people who have dietary needs and choices. Again another perfect touch to add to this amazing hotel. The food was amazing however I would strongly recommend going at least half board to stay easy on your pocket. We ate breakfast at Oceano and the food was of great standard for buffet food, as was the a'la carte. We had the buffets in the evening at Tepi Laut and the Coffee Terrace, again a great standard of food! The chefs (especially at Tepi) were extremely helpful and would advise on any dietary needs/choices. For the paid restaurants we went Oceano. The food was exceptional and very well presented, same with naan another added treat here was the offering of a bangle and bindi (which was graciously accepted). They offer plenty of activities and trips so I recommend checking out what's available on and offsite. We kayaked, took a boat trip to see the fireflies and booked a day trip to see the orangutang, proboscis monkeys and sun bears. Last but not least the 'goodbye' song...well this turned me into an emotional wreck before we left; another extra special touch of the staff going that extra mile just ensuring that this place is personal and unique! Thank you Rasa-Ria, you're worth your weight in gold!!!!

The Shangri-La group never fails to disappoint we had a garden room but this had a fabulous view of the ocean. The staff here are so welcoming and efficient they make everyone feel special loved the very talented live music acts nightly. For a wonderful relaxing break you can't fault it

Stayed as part of our Malaysia tour. A beautiful hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are spotless and the restaurants are super if not a little pricey. There is always plenty of tea and coffee and water in your rooms too. We used the travel agents on site to see the proboscis monkeys and fireflies. I would recommend that trip.

A very comfortable, safe and easy place to stay. Our Ocean Wing room was clean, comfortable, and had a gorgeous view out over the ocean from the spa on our balcony. Bed was comfortable, linen lovely, air con effective. Restaurants were great - our favourites were the Indian restaurant and the Malay buffet. Our morning hike, with breakfast looking out over the Ocean, jungle and mountains was a particular highlight. Service is professional. Easy transfers from the airport. A great holiday option!

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Stayed seven nights as part of our Kuoni holiday. The room was spacious and spotless. The food was some of the best we have had on a HB basis. Fresh seafood, sushi, grilled meats, Tapinayki, curries and amazing desserts. Breakfast was also an absolute delight with everything imaginable. But the most amazing thing about this hotel was it's staff .... wow! Everyone had a smile and were so polite. They also took time if you wanted to chat. A special mention for Anise who we first met on our first night at the Sampan bar. She taught us some simple Malay phrases. Her smile at breakfast and a quick chat started our day perfectly. Also a special mention for Isaac (glasses) who served us at our table in the evenings ... he was so lovely and very polite. Water sports team were excellent and we had great fun on the boards and kayaks. Also had a great foot massage... very reasonable. Fireflies trip is a must. We had an amazing send of, some of the staff gathered and sung their goodbye song ... it was absolutely wonderful. Thank you all so much for such a perfect week.

For our 40th year birthday anniversaries, I treated my husband and my kids to a 4D/3N stay at a Premier Ocean Villa at Rasa Ria. I have heard of Rasa Ria’s well known accommodations and tropical setting and I took it as a fitting top-up to the celebrations we’ve been having this year. Drive from airport: we took a taxi for RM90, cheaper than the hotel car (RM250) Check-in: a check-in staff attended to us at the Premier Ocean Villa check-in area while we sipped our welcome drink of calamansi juice. Cold towels given to us for freshening up smelled unpleasant and musty though. Not something I’d like to put on my face. I would alert management about this. Accommodation: Perfect. Gorgeous. Just as how I hoped for. Great sea view. Top floor. Queen sized bed for parents, bedspace each for the 2 kids with us. I specifically mentioned that we have anniversaries to celebrate including our belated wedding anniversary treat and local made pralines were added to our welcome platter in the room. Food: plenty of choices from local to international choices, some restaurants we are in deserve their own review. Buffet breakfast choices satisfy anybody’s palate. Delicious. Staff: wonderful, truly appreciated their hospitality Watersports Centre: really thankful our package had a 100RM rebate for activities. We made good use of windsurf boards and a catamaran. Kids Club: first time for our kids to be left voluntarily in the kids club and they kept on wanting to come back! Pool and poolside bar: 3 pools, kids pool is the busiest. All our manned by very competent lifeguards. Very impressed. Poolside bar staff remembers their clients and the drink requests :0). Overall: my review doesn’t do justice to the amazing time my family had in Rasa Ria. The resort is great to create memories.

Coming back to the Rasa Ria is really like coming to our second home. This was our 5th stay here in 4 years. We stayed in the Ocean Wing this time and it is well worth the extra cost. The food was excellent in all the restaurants. I would recommend that you try the food in Oceania and the Naan. I would also recommend going on the guided night walk, but be prepared for a steep climb plus the night heat of the jungle. There is so much to see and do. For the fantastic staff, (plus all the unseen staff who nobody ever mentions) I would like to give you all a huge Teria Kasih

During a tour of Malaysia and Singapore, the most outstanding hotel was the Shangri-la's Rasa Ria resort and spa. We had a room in the garden wing which looked out to sea, whilst being very close to the forest. The room was fantastic, having a sun terrace as a bonus. I am always impressed when I get a decent shower in the morning and this one was great. There were several places in the resort for food, with Italian, Indian, Japanese, or the street food pool bar and also the main bar did good food as well. We tried the bar and Naan, the Indian restaurant. Both provided delicious food, especially Naan. There were plenty of activities available including excursions one of which is an example of how the various tribes including headhunter a used to live. We also went on a canopy walk in the forest, reaching 90mts above ground level. On the beach there are issues with sand flies, however, when you gather your towel from the kiosk, there are sprays for you to use to guard against the Perry critters. To a person, the staff in the hotel were excellent, friendly, helpful and always busy rather than standing around ignoring customers as we had elsewhere. I would return to this hotel in the blink of an eye.

From the moment you arrive , exhausted , you are made to feel welcome and shown quickly to your room . No standing in line , you sit looking out at the Sea with a drink while the paperwork is completed . Ee booked Garden Wing sea view and it was perfect , we even had s beautiful parrot visit from the forest behind and sit on our balcony with us !! Breakfast is wonderful , never have I seen such variety , from chicken noodles , curry to cornflakes . The food was lovely . A lot of rice . Wine is £10 a glass , beer £8 a pint so go at happy hour ! Jungle trek we saw a green viper and walked the canopy bridge . Trainers , trousers , gym ones , and t shirt will suffice. Free hour sailing , we tried sailing , very good. Lobby areas are open plan and beautiful . Staff very friendly , look out for Isaac he is adorable . Hotel taxis very expensive , download app called Grab , equivalent to uber , great service and price .

Great facilities, catering for both couples and families. Great sport facilities for all ages. Excellent food and great resort features for all to enjoy. Friendly and helpful staff are nearby to respond to requests or a friendly chat. There are many day trips outside the resort for all ages.
