Took a taxi from the port to Shangri-La Rasa aria Resort. We were greeted well and processed quickly. Pool and surrounds really beautiful. Arrived at around 10.00am and left at 3.30pm. We could have stayed on this day pass until 6.00pm but had to get back to our ship. Wonderful lunch - Satay and Veg Spring Rolls were a delight. Highly recommended. Very reasonable.
Stayed here from 8 to 12 March 2018. From our arrival to when we departed, we were made to feel very special. The service from ALL the staff - food and beverage, garden, concierge and the transport teams was simply faultless. We had an opportunity to offer some feedback and the Qualty manager seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say. The room we were in was large, airy and well appointed. The bathroom wanted for nothing with all you want under expect from a Shangri-La resort. Food experience was also very good, plentiful and fresh. This is a must stay for a relaxing break away
Ordered a hot chocolate and relaxed in Internet Lounge. Very minimum crowd and relaxing environment. Had the pleasure to be served by Maya, very friendly and cheerful staff. Thank you very much for all the small gestures you did to make my day, and keep up the good work.
A couple of nights getaway in the pure luxury of the Ocean Wing was the highlight of a Borneo Trip. The friendly and attentive Rasa Ria team provided the very highest level of customer service throughout our stay. The buffet breakfast in the Ocean Wing was a wonderful experience in itself with so many delicious choices. The rooms are huge and extremely comfortable. Shangri-la Hospitality at its very best - Highly recommended !!
Great hotel with the most amazing staff, everyone was friendly, welcoming and very hospitable - felt like we were part of a big family. Upgrading to the Ocean Wing is worth every penny, the rooms have a big bathtub on the balcony, the minibar included and replenished daily, and every day cocktails from 5-6 pm. Can highly recommend. Hope to come back some day. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lovely hotel in a glorious location. It has a beautiful Beach and great views of South China Sea, plus there is a small secondary jungle steps from the hotel. Staff without exception were superb. Special mention to Fenny and Freddie for going the extra mile but everyone was polite and friendly and did everything they could to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed in the Garden Wing. Sounds like Ocean Wing is even more impressive but we usually travel on a budget and Ocean View room at Garden Wing gave us all the luxury we needed, large room and fantastic views. Pool could get a little busy but the day beds and sunchairs looking out at the beach and sea were hardly used and we always got one without any issue and often virtually had beach and sea to ourselves (no problem with Jellyfish despite frequent dips). Buffet Food however hard you try will always be buffet food and both options were quite expensive .. but the Stir Fry station at Tepi Laut was delicious and hotel offers a half board upgrade which is good value if you intend to dine there a lot .. and there is no alternative really unless you take a taxi ride into Kota Kinabalu. We did a River Excursion which started 7 minute drive from hotel and which was great .. Crocodiles and Water Buffalo. Plus Sepilok and the various animal sanctuaries are an easy daytrip away with a short 35 minute flight. And finally 3 of our 7 nights were wet and cloudy .. but the other 4 offered up the most glorious sunsets we have ever seen .. which can be enjoyed from your room or from the beach bar with a happy hour beer in hand!
Perfect in every way. Arrived early but were able to use facilities until rooms ready and we checked out on time were able to use the facilities until we left with a late flight. Faultless in every way everywhere. Highly recommend.
From the moment of booking and communicating with the property, everything was just perfect. We were travelling with our two-year old and his grandparents so we chose two adjoining rooms in the Garden Wing on the ground floor. As many reviews here already say, if you are travelling without kids, do choose the Ocean Wing. For our 2-year-old though, the two groundfloor rooms, from which he could run into the beautiful garden, this was just perfect. The rooms are big enough (from the photos here I was expecting them to be much smaller), the views are stunning, it was peacefull and all we could hear during the day and night was birds singing (we were lucky that our rooms were on the smaller side of Garden Wing, nearby the Ocean Wing Part). The beach is huge and empty and we enjoyed swimming in the sea when it was my parents turn to take care of our son in the kiddies pool (which he loved). Thank you to everyone in Rasa Ria for making us feel welcomed and taken care of, we will definitely come back again!
Fantastic well appointed hotel in an amazing part of the world. Good food, lovely rooms and incredibly welcoming and helpful staff (a special mention for Razlee and Christa). The ease with which situations like minor flooding from torrential rain was dealt with is a great example for any hotel. Highly recommended.
Great hotel and Shangri-las flagship hotel so everything is just perfect . There’s nothing really bad to say about this hotel . Operations manager Rodger was fantastic and he couldn’t have done enough to sort the issues with our half board status. The food was awesome by the way especially the outside area with the wok station ...best hotel food to date and we go away a lot . The tepenyaki was also great for a treat. Rooms where lovely and plenty big enough. Pool areas are spotless and plenty big enough to accommodate everyone and not be on top of each other . Gym was great and had everything you needed . Beach was huge but didn’t really use it due to the sand flies . The hotel was trying to sort the issue though . All in all it was a fantastic stay and would recommend anyone to stay here if visiting Borneo Tip: get an Uber from the airport , think it works out at around £9
