We stayed as part of a tour. Large comfortable room, restaurant very nice with a lot of choice. Don’t be fooled into joining their points scheme if you didn’t book it directly as you can’t get the points for that stay! Which wasn’t explained before I joined up! Close to a couple of the shopping malls. But beware by the pool. I got a lot of bites from insects.
This is my second visit to Kota Kinabalu. I would say this hotel is in best location, Suria Sabah, Gaya street and KK plaza is within 3 mins walk. The hotel room is huge and my family loves it. It is built at 1977 so don’t expect it is modern.
We booked 14 nights at this hotel about 8 months ago requested a ocean view room and emailed them prior. When we arrived they had none available but would shift us the following day .We Followed up the next day still none available ,definitely blocked one for us the following day and a hour later calling us and saying one was available at $50 extra per night this was the nail in the coffin. Our room was disgustingly dirty and house keeping was a jock dirty sheets and rubbish never taken. We decided to cut our trip short get a refund on 5 days of our holiday and fly to Singapore .We have stayed at many Hyatt hotels and were all 5 star this hotel was very aged and needing a refurbishment The pool staff stayed on there phone while rubbish was around the pool furniture and they were blowing there nose and spitting into the public bin very disgusted. Please view my photos
We stayed two nights, because it was centrally located and had a swimming pool. It can be found right next to the Wisma Merdeka shopping mall. From the outside, the building looks a bit old, but the common areas are very well maintained and with a certain charm. We arrived late in the evening, and were the only ones for check-in, and thus it was swiftly done. Our room was spacious, with a comfy bed, all amenities, a huge flatscreen TV. Though, it may be time for a lift-over. The swimming pool offers a great way to cool off from the heat. We did not have breakfast - 90 ringgit per person - as we woke up too late on the first day (after 10am) and too early on the second day (at 6am). Service was friendly and professional.
I had vacation with my big family (6 adults and 2 kids) with staying in Hyatt regency in Kota Kinabalu. All my family members were happy with this hotel in terms of service, cleanliness, and food. I would strongly recommend this for those who are planning family trip.
If you want a centrally located hotel in Kota Kinabalu, then look no further. My husband and I stayed here at the start of our Borneo holiday. The hotel is immaculate with modern decorations and furnishings. The pool area is quite small but that was expected in a city location. The restaurant serves both a la carte and buffet and I would suggest to the buffet as the a la carte food was served to us cold (on 2 occasions). The staff were very good, friendly and courteous, can't praise them enough.
Stayed for one night in this hotel at 5th floor with lounge access. Food was superb, both lounge bites and breakfast. Waking up to a beautiful sea view is plus point! Beds were comfy, fast internet and prompt room service. Overall a great hotel to splurge!!!
My feelings about this hotel are somewhat coloured by the fact that we didn't enjoy staying in KK and in hindsight would have much preferred to have done things differently. However, this is not something to blame the hotel for but the fact remains that, of the 4 hotels we stayed in while travelling in Singapore and Malaysia, this one paled in comparison and was comfortably the worst. To be fair though there wasn't anything to give any genuine cause for complaint. The staff were good and the room was a generous size with a large and very comfortable bed. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but we used the pool which was fine. I guess the hotel is just a little old and tired and in need of some modernisation. If you are staying in KK then I'd probably recommend staying at the Hyatt but I probably wouldn't recommend staying in KK.
I would like to thank you Mr Thor Gervasi (GM) and Suzie for the an awesome surprise during my trip here recently. Birthday card, box of Choc and going out of their way giving me access to Regency Club when my access was expired on the mentioned date. They actually went all the way to find out of my birth date. An awesome customer service experience. I would also would like to comment on The staff of Shinenigan (Awang, Faryeed, Philomen, Alvicia) and the band led by Jad (vocalist), Wan (Drummer) and the rest of the band for celebrating it with me. It was a memorable event I treasure. Its true Hyatt Regency gives you the extra personal experience when living here. A great place for business trip or holiday and being a true residence.
I have stayed a few times at this hotel which is well located in Kota Kinabalu and has nice big rooms and friendly staff. My big mistake was to stay close to Chinese New year and the hotel was mobbed by Chinese all on holiday. Sadly they seem to think that it is perfectly acceptable to shout, push, shove, interrupt and generally act in a very boorish way. The breakfast in the Hyatt is exceptional with lots of variety to suit all cultures and subject to the above is really good. Whilst the hotel is expensive (at least during Chinese New Year) it is worth the extra and particularly recommended is to get a seaview room as you get spectacular sunset views almost every night.
