Was there for a 3 days 2 nights events. Dealing with their sales manager was a breeze. She was so very accommodating to all our requests. The rooms was quite old and the room I had was next to the pump room, so it was very noise. Had a few meals at their restaurants, Noble house was very slow. Sunrise bar, staffs were polite, but they can be quite slow too. We were occupying their club room, however, many a times lounge was empty without any staffs and the buggy ride from the club rooms can be a while. because of these few things, that is why I am only giving them an average score T
Fantastic resort. Beautiful beach and views. Great value for money. Separate mention to the amazing staff, led by Florina, who made our stay even more special. From checking to check out, everybody working in hotel, greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel really welcomed and appreciated. Minor issues with the room were addressed immediately and the only problem was having to leave. Would love to stay longer and will definitely come back in the future.
I have just come back from seven wonderful days of pure relaxation and peace at Nexus. I had read some very mixed reviews of the place here on TripAdvisor but experiencing it for myself and travelling alone, I am quite simply baffled by the negative comments of the resort. The setting of Nexus is breathtakingly beautiful and the resort itself is just wonderful. I have travelled a fair bit for pleasure and work (I also worked for a top-end global hotel chain) and I can, with hand-on-heart, say I have never experienced such natural warmth, professionalism, and care from all the staff members I encountered at Nexus -from the receptionist, all the restaurant staff right through to the cleaners and gardeners. They could give many hotel in the world some training in how genuine hospitality should be done. I would urge anyone who is in need of total relaxation and loves nature to stay at Nexus and Borneo. I was very sad to leave the resort and Borneo itself. However, I will come back to my little bit of paradise and I look forward to see the lovely Anna and all the happy guys in The Sunset Bar. Thank you so much to all at Nexus for making my trip to Borneo even better than I ever imagined.
Stayed for a week in a Nexus Club at this hotel. Wonderful staff and care by everyone. This attention to detail and facilities are exceptional. Will return again, have seldom been made to feel more welcome.
Always in a resort you are trapped - you have to eat inside and use their facilities. That’s usually not a problem, but with Nexus it is as their facilities are so poor... the lobby is nice. But the rooms are tired. Very tired. 9 restaurants is an exaggeration as many are closed at evenings or simply serve snacks. We went to the Mediterranean restaurant which was half full but were told it would be an hour plus to get served. Seemed odd as it didn’t appear busy. The buffet looked average and most of the protein foods were depleted by a few people who had hoarded this on their table. Unfortunately the chefs couldn’t replenish quickly enough. Instead we opted for the bar and grill. Four items on menu not available. The burger was excessively salty and undercooked. The pizza was good though. The mango smoothie separated as it was tinned mango syrup rather than pulp or fresh mango. Is fresh mango that hard to get in Sabah? What was extremely concerning was a gecko faeces on the table napkin indicating they had been left out all night... We have opted to hire a car tomorrow and will eat out for the rest of our stay. We will enjoy ourselves with Swimming and relaxation but won’t ruin things by eating in this place
We enjoyed everything in this beautiful place.Especially the beach bar event which there was a remarkable traditional bamboo dance and played blackjack with Billy who was so friendly and hospitality to his guests. All of us were glad to join this excellent event. We also joined the ride bike tour with Billy next day.He took us riding around the resort and guided all the facilities here.My family were so happy with this bike tour.If you wanna do some activities at this resort I believe that sports and recreation manger Billy can be a great person to help and guide you here.It was a great time to stay here.
This is a long overdue review of a fabulous 2 week family holiday that we had at the Nexus resort in August 2017. We have given it an excellent rating due to our overall experience. It is a place to go to get away for it all and truly relax. We were part of the Nexus club and therefore had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which we recommend. The room was big and airy and very clean. The hotel is just set back from the beach and therefore it is only a short walk to the beautiful huge clean beach with white sand and clear warm sea. This makes is very convenient for people with young children. The hotel also had 3 pools which cater for adults, children and very young children. They are not big enough to exercise in but were very clean and a great place to cool off and relax in. There is a good choice of restaurants and due to the location of the hotel (about 15 mins taxi drive to the nearest shops and 45 mins to Kota Kinabalu) we ended up eating every meal in the hotel. The best meal for us was breakfast as there is a huge selection of different foods and it was great to try out breakfasts from different countries. We also recommend the sunset bar as you can have your evening meal watching the amazing sunset. We tended to have a snack for lunch and eat again in one of the restaurants in the evening. So it is useful to stock up on snacks when you go to the local shops as the shop on site is a little limited in this respect. Our whole family loved being on the resort so much that we ended up having only a few trips out. One of the things that really made our stay so enjoyable and special was the fantastic staff at the hotel who were so warm, welcoming and helpful. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone we met there for our amazing stay at the Nexus. We will definitely come back to the Nexus if we are able to.
I came back from Nexus Hotel a week ago and I had pleasure of spending six great days there. As it was first bigger abroad trip with our daughter, I was a bit worried before getting there. Let's face it - there are some negative reviews about Nexus and some photos trying to prove how bad this place is. Let me cut this right at the beginning – it’s not. Simply this hotel gives back what you bring with you. I can agree with some reviews, that it might use some renovation (in some places), that it might not be the perfect 5* etc. If you’re picky and trying to find something that you can take a photo of and post online as an example of some imperfection – you will find it. But is it really the point? If you look at the bigger picture and decide to simply enjoy it, it will allow you to. And the place is really wonderful if you’re looking for a getaway from the city noise and rush. Some might complain, that it’s far away from the city (30 – 40 mins car ride) but that’s a small price to pay for what you get. We stayed in the room 8506 – facing the sea, on the 5th floor and I there’s nothing I can complain about. Room was spacious and clean, not mentioning the view which was just amazing. If something is missing – just dial 0 on the phone and you’ll get it fixed by the staff. Staff deserves a separate part in this review. The crew you will meet is simply amazing - always with a true smile on their faces, willing to help. If the building’s standard does not reach 5*, the staff deserves 6* grade. They make this place unique. The hotel’s motto says “some say it’s heaven” and I’ve seen a feedback saying “but it’s not”. I disagree – it is, but you need to bring some of it with you. To the staff, as I know you will read this: Thank you for all your efforts to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. You’re a team of fantastic people and it was a great pleasure to be around you. Sorry that we didn’t manage to get to the drink in the bar last night before departure.
Our son had recommended this resort and we really enjoyed our stay, using it as a stopover from Australia to the UK. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and attentive throughout our stay (extra thanks to Harun, Florinda, Nelisha and Roslin). A great resort to use for relaxing or as a base for trips exploring Borneo.
for the 2nd time in 3 months we stayed at the Nexus Resort and were again overwhelmed with the friendlyness of the staff. The staff at the Nexus Club, Christina, Florina and Shidah made our stay again perfect and fulfilled all wishes. We noted a nice upgrade of the food offer in the Nexus Club, congratulations! The food and service at the Noble House was again outstanding thanks to Lala and Ling, who looked extremely well after all customers also during very busy times. A compliment also to the kitchen crew. Last but not least the staff at the Sunset Bar, which we mainly met during breakfast time who also did a wonderful job, among them Bobby, Romario, Halbend, Michael, Nelisha and Linda. All in all our stay was again very nice and we enjoyed every minute. Compared to our previous stay, we were this time slightly disappointed by the breakfast selections at the sunset bar, which were considerably smaller compared to the offer in Olives. The rooms at the Nexus Club are nice and big and offer a fantastic seaview. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Nexus.
