Location excellent, good rooms. Very good restaurants, especially the kingfisher we appreciate. Friendly staff, the speaking of English must be a bit improved by - especially - the workers at the reception BUT....they advertise with 6 km of white sand beach. Then you may expect that this beach is clean. Nothing is less true, only the beach direct in front of the resort ( about 500 meters) is cleaned daily. When you walk along along the rest of the beach it's indeed nice white sound but everywhere you find the pastic solution. Horrible. You have to walk along the beach to start a nature trail in the forrest!!!! That MUST be done better, NOT only clean the beach before the resort but clean the (your!!) whole beach

We stayed in room 6211, which is on the 2nd floor in block 6, overlooking the sea, which is about 100 metres away. A beautiful sight to wake up to. The location and setting of the resort is superb, with enormous well maintained gardens, right on the beach. I would say that this was once a 5* resort, and has the potential to be so again, but is definitely in need of a makeover. The condition of things such as the cushions on the sun loungers , the umbrellas, the showers by the beach and pools, and the balcony furniture all need replacing as a matter of urgency. Of far more importance is the condition of the wooden decking close to the adult pool, which is not only an eyesore but downright dangerous. Most of the planks are rotten and loose. Health and Safety would have a field day! In contrast to this, the extensive gardens are really well maintained! The staff are very friendly and helpful, but I feel they require closer supervision by management. I can't believe that anyone in authority has inspected the decking area in months, if not years. I recommend that anyone staying here upgrades to the Nexus Club, where they will be looked after by Florina and/or Melvie. These 2 young ladies are absolutely tremendous, and made all the difference to our stay. I can't speak too highly of them, and I'm certain that if they were given supervisory roles there would be an immediate improvement in the appearance of the resort!! There are 5 restaurants and we ate in 3 of them. The Sunset Bar, where we had breakfast overlooking the beach. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The evening menu was mainly steak, burgers or pizza. We had pizzas, which were excellent. The Kingfisher Restaurant had plenty of choice, but was almost entirely Asian, and when we ate there the food was pretty cold and unappetising. The Plenyu Restaurant was more expensive than the Kingfisher, but far better quality with wider options. There are also Italian and Chinese restaurants, which are again more expensive, but we didn't try them. As I said earlier, this resort could be so much better without spending a fortune, but as another reviewer said, they seem to be catering for the Chinese market and perhaps they are not quite as demanding as westerners.

the facility is renovated and service is excellent ! it is very good for family to visit as there’s so large and beautiful, you can stay in the resort to enjoy a relaxing holiday! highly recommend this one if you want to visit sabah:)

Where shall I start? The location of this hotel is nice - close to the beach, room are very old but spacious. There are 5 restaurants but the food is average - very dry most of the time and the service is SO SLOW!!! It took 20 min to receive a bottle of natural water.. One recommendation: DO NOT USE the tour service from the front desk: the tour is very basic and does not provide anything. Plus if you are not a Chinese speaker u will straggle a lot. They tour company used is not flexible to accommodate any changes and they cannot be bother to provide any extra service even if you are willing to pay premium price. The hotel staff are ok not very friendly - it is a resort made for Chinese tourists: so if you don’t mind the noise and their behaviour this is ok but English is not widely spoken..

first stay was good. room in chalet with ocean view. but this second stay was really terrible. floor full of sands. toilet was flooded as the floor is sloped in wrong direction.I will never come again

Stayed at Nexus for two nights. The beach view, the beach length, the staff friendliness and quality of food are to be positively noted. However, while staying in the Ocean Panorama wing here comes the disappointment. That wing of the hotel should be closed for guests to stay. These rooms are between 20 / 15 years old with almost no renovation or deep cleaning. This is a major flaw in the commercial offering. The hotel management is operating rooms at zero cost while cashing in high night rates. I attach picture to evidence the case. Mold, dust and dirt in the mouthwash glass were the worse. The rooms in that wing are worth a 3 star hotel max. Unfortunately the old hotel age and cleanliness issue must be extended to facilities such as kids swimming pool with uneven water catch creating fall risk, beach and garden covered with small pieces of junk everywhere including electrical hardware, dirty dishes on the bach, degraded massage huts,... Having travelled several time in Sabbah, I would recommend to drive up North, maybe pay a bit more but enjoy a better true 5 star resort in a well known hotel chain. Conclusion, not a 5 star resort, definitively.

My daughter and I stayed in the club rooms at Nexus for five nights. We arrived on my birthday and I received a lovely cake to enjoy in our room with coffee as well as a singing celebration at dinner. The spa was wonderful, a very peaceful atmosphere and a fantastic massage. Our room was spacious but the bath room was old and in places mouldy. The beds were comfortable and housekeeping was good. We ate in most restaurants and really enjoyed afternoon drinks and snacks in the club rooms , the food was really good there. The hamburgers in the sunset bar were delicious, but at times the staff there were more interested in talking to each other than the guests. Staff and food in Pengu and the Italian were great. We especially loved the beach - as it is a huge resort we had lots of room to ourselves. Big groups of Chinese guests came and went without disturbing us. The pool was very warm and a bit worn and quite shallow, but we loved the swim up bar and the great staff there who really cared about making delicious drinks. We felt very welcome here , Nexus has beautiful gardens a clean lovely beach and great staff. It is a value for money resort - with an update to rooms it would be heaven on earth.

My wife and I booked an Ocean Panorama View room there for 2 nights. Loved the place - romantic and private. The hotel is a bit run-down but well-maintained. Having stayed at both Sutera Harbour (Magellan) and Nexus Resort, I highly recommend people to stay at Nexus. Helpful and friendly staff. 5-star service!

We were both sceptical about the distance from town--However, this was all made up with what was to come. We checked in with no problems,- fast and efficient. We were shown to our room which exceeded our expectations. The whole set up of the hotel was one of luxury. The beach was to die for, miles of fine sand and clear water. Hotel pools were excellent and well maintained and run. Food in the Sunset was prepared superbly, courtesy of Chef Kiong. Front of house Florina and Zamree to name just a few of the staff looked after us very well. All the reception staff came out when we were leaving and sung to us,- something to remember .Take an opportunity to visit and enjoy yourself.

Amazing Nexus Club room, spacious, comfortable, wonderful beach view. Incredible beach cleaned daily and well maintained. Staff very gracious and helpful, especially Vyonnes, Florina, Vian and Romario. Many dining choices with mix of cuisine and different vibes based on preferences. Really enjoyed reading Borneo Post each morning at breakfast while sipping delicious coffee by beach surf. Comfortable beach lounge chairs with umbrellas. Nice pool area, centrally located. Good resort for families and couples. About 45 minutes from downtown, away from hustle and bustle of city, still accessible for shopping excursions. Property is in need of cosmetic 'facelift' to get ahead of normal wear & tear. Lots of unused space which can be repurposed. Should create 'Departure/Arrival Lounge' with lockers to leave bags for early arrivals or late departure. Should strictly enforce 'No Cell Phone' rules in spa. Very disturbing many folks on devices, beeping and loud, unsettling during spa time and impacts personal privacy. Nexus lounge could be open all day for access to coffee/tea. Billing system is difficult to understand with bill run 3x.
