There are many positives for this resort. Rooms were beautifully appointed and beds very comfortable. If like us you like to chill out with a drink and watch the world go by, there are several beautiful areas. Hard to beat the sunset bar for obvious reasons or the main lobby where you are entertained by several talented local bands. However it is the beautiful friendly smiling staff that make your stay so enjoyable. Everyone smiles and greets you and go out of their way to help you. Thank you guys.

Arrived at 9.30pm and was promptly checked in. Hotel is in the city area with lots of local eateries such as prata coffee shops around it. There is a Dobi laundromat just behind and thought I saw Hilton across the street. The rooms are simple and toilet is clean. However it is a bathtub cum shower, so we were rather dismayed since we wanted a wheel chair accessible shower. Take note if u have elderly as it is slippery climbing in and out! The breakfast spread is good and tasty. I think the hotel stay is value for money, and wouldn’t mind staying here again.

Hotel centrally located and very near to most of the commercial places. Rooms are nice, especially the very cleanly maintained bathroom with bathtub. The complimentary breakfast buffet was good. The restaurant TIVOLI offers a very good selection of seafood at a very reasonable price when compared to other seafood restaurants. DONT miss the must-try TUARAN FRIED MEE. It's so delicious, special mee of Sabah, cooked with mee, chicken, egg, seafood, and vegetables.

Went to an Expo in KK and was booked in here. Staff seemed very friendly at Concierge and Reception and check in was easy. Quite a small hotel and nothing flash. Food was passable but their clientele is mainly from Asia so don't go looking for breakfast cereals and the like. Eggs were ok but not much on the menu for me. End of the Expo I booked into Le Meridien and had a good feed!! Room was ok but had a shower/bath - the kind that you have to step into. A real injury threat getting in and out and no rubber bath mat to stop you slipping. 10 minutes walk to water front bars and restaurants so convenient from that aspect. Bed was very comfortable but the TV left a bit to be desired unless you like Malaysian soapies. Not an unpleasant stay and cost was nothing like Le Meridien but not likely to go there again. However plenty of people coming and going so if cost is paramount you could do worse.

I have visited this hotel a couple of times. I have stayed in 6 different rooms. The rooms are nice. Good size and nice bathroom. I preferred "the jungle side", as "the city side" was very VERY noisy. The breakfast is good. Staff are friendly. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the waterfront. There is no swimming pool.

Stayed at this hotel with my husband whilst he was on a business trip. Everything about it was amazing. Service, views, foods, pool, room service just everything. I didn’t venture out of the hotel much except on organised trips but with a beach front hotel, outstanding pool sunshine what else could you want. Would love to go back one day!!!!!

This is the original Borneo Shangri La, not part of the chain. It is not a luxury hotel. However, it is a very good budget hotel. If you are setting off on trips it does a very good job for you. Clean, excellent beds, roomy rooms. The staff are lovely. It is placed centrally. Zalways cabs outside. Generous breakfast. OK to leave luggage whilst off on treks. Early departure breakfast boxes. All in all, excellent value.

During our trip in Malaysia everybody told us to visit Kota kinabalu because of the sea and good beaches There. So we decided for the Shangri-La resort. Still I remember the cristal clear water, the restaurants that serves a wide range of international cuisine, shady coconut palms and the staff Who make your stay very comfortable. The nature is very nice and it takes about 40 minutes from the AirPort. While visiting the resort dont forget to try all the watersport activities that they have There 😃😃😃

Feel like home, safe and secure. Clean and comfortable. Great value to stay. Friendly workers. Good food. Near to 7/11 shop and plenty of restourant. If you come by car or bike, theres a safe parking lot.

Good all round business hotel. Staff are very polite and helpful. Decent room service although it ends at 11pm. If you need supper, there are some restaurants nearby. Furnishing in the room is a little dated, but well maintained. All this being said, room rates have been climbing and there are competitive options in Kota Kinabalu nowadays.
