Rooms (except for few ants crawling on the bed), there are quite satisfactory. LMKK has good people profiles, thus you would have great deal of human touch during the stay also during my previous stays.
We spent 3 nights among Le Meridien with my girlfriend on a short getaway from home. The location of the hotel is very convenient from airport and Jesselton pier where most boats leave to surrounding islands. We had a Urban room but the exposition of the room gave us plenty of view on the sea which was a good surprise. The rooms are big enough and comfortable. Seems like rooms are pretty recent. Amenities are sufficient and good quality (shampoo, soap...) Only missing in the room would have been an umbrella and plugs for USB to charge phones/tablets. Service was up to SPG standard expect for the pool bar. We had ordered some cocktails but were not given snacks nor napkins. Overall our stay was very positive and relaxing. We would not hesitate to come back at Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu.
Always ❤️ SPG hotels It was only 1 night stay but it was perfect. Arrived a bit early for check in so had to wait 1.5 hours - plus point was upgraded to sea view room. The room was huge - loads of space for at least 1-2 more extra beds. View was spectaculars. Special thanks to Diana at front desk - always smiling and polite. Nice touch that she remembered my name. Take a walk via the back of hotel- there’s a mall where you can get cheap massages. Center point Sabah .. very local but you get everything you want.
In my opinion, Le Meridien KK has the best location in the city, close to everything that a traveller needs. After the upgrading recently, the rooms and common areas have a fresh, lighter look wth modern, clean accents. Room was clean, spacious and well-stocked to expected standards. The buffets at Latest Recipe did not disappoint! Many options to choose from, and my firm favourite was the Indian corner - strong, authentic flavours that enticed me over the whole week. To wind down at the end of the day, the Azure bar by the poolside had Happy Hour drinks that we enjoyed as we waited for sundown. Service was warm and friendly - you will always see smiling faces here. Overall - thumbs up!
Not one to have meals at the hotel, decided to give this a go as we were running late. No regrets at all. So many choices and different cuisines to choose from. Freshly made crepes at one of the counters were to die for. Had to go for seconds. Staff were super friendly too!
Even before the arrival the hotel staff contacted us and gave us great tips for activities in the area. We arrived at the hotel late at night and we received a very warm and friendly welcome. The room was large and clean, the location of the hotel is very central just opposite of the night market. It is not a resort, it’s rather a business hotel. The staff is quick and helpful, extending our stay was very smooth as well as checkout. The breakfast is extremely large and the quality is good, I recommend he Italian style cappuccino. I enjoyed the time at the hotel very much and can highly recommend this place.
The check-in process was well handled by the front desk. The room was OK by far, nothing really great to impress. The only setback was the gym and spa. The spa reception desk was without an attendant. I have to snoop around looking for the attendant. Towels found to be not clean. Gym was found to have leaks from the ceiling. One of the treadmills suddenly mal-functioned which could be rather dangerous to users.
Luxury hotel close to everything. Would not mind returning. Good: - Spacious rooms. - Nice Bathrooms - Night market opposite (if that's your thing) - Rooms with views - Service - XL pillows Bad: - Carpet stains - Ants on the phone??? - Advertises queen beds, but actually are doubles.
From the time we arrived we found the staff extremely attentive and our room overlooking the bay was well appointed and the club lounge was worth the extra money. The quality of the hotel was excellent and with all the markets and eating paces near by it was a good choice for our 3 night stay. The concierge organised a hire car for the day for us to drive to Kota Kinabalu National Park and then drop off at the airport the next morning. Great experience and great value. Would definitely return.
My sister and I stayed for five nights and had a great time. The hotel is in a great location, just across the road from the Phillipino market where we did a lot of shopping. In the evening the food stalls opened up and we dined very cheaply on fabulous fresh seafood, while watching the hustle and bustle all around us. Also walking distance was the fresh market where we took a food tour and saw the huge range of vegies and fruits, herbs and spices, and behind that the fresh fish market. Getting around was super easy, we walked around town quite a bit, and never felt unsafe. At night, on the water, the clubs open up and we watched a live cover band while drinking cocktails. We had the club room package and while the food was a bit average ( cheese selection but only a jar of broken biscuit pieces to go with it, hot savouries that were never hot) the drinks were free flowing and we definitely took advantage. The lovely staff made us feel so welcome, and we learned a lot about them and their families. The hotel puts on a good breakfast buffet, with western and asian choices. I prefer the asian food and usually had noodles with curry sauce and a fried egg on top, finishing off with a danish pastry. We also tried the traditional foods, bambangan chichen in the restaurant by the pool, and it was amazing. Well worth ordering. The pool bar has happy hour, buy one cocktail get one free, so of course we did that! And we made friends with several of the staff, as they were really welcoming and keen to chat and have a laugh with us. They also offered good advice on where to go and what to see, ordered Ubers for us and went that extra mile to help us out. Overall, the people of Kota Kinabalu are very laid back, friendly people, and it was one of the best things about the trip; we had fun with all our guides and drivers. My overall advice, leave your bad mood at home because this place is chill!
