This is a lovely hotel on the South China sea...I had a view of the sea and the room was very nice. They offer a wonderful breakfast, laundry services - great location....really nice rooms - great bar....loved it here.
We had two night stays either side of our Sarawak trip and had a great time. We have been to KK many times but our favorite hotel was being overrun by large cheap and noisy groups so we thought we would give this one a go and we were very happy here. Check in was very quick and as usual in Sabah the staff were lovely. Breakfast was one of the best i have ever had and just couldnt eat everything i wanted. We were in the new Vista seaview room and it was very comfortable very clean and had everything we needed. Spent a few nights at the poolside bar and the staff there looked after us very well.We would love to return again, thank you all.
The best thing about this hotel are the staff. They were unfailingly helpful and nice. I can't eat gluten (which is not well understood in Malaysia), and when they discovered this they couldn't have been more considerate. Food was excellent. The upgrade to the business lounge was really worth it, as this gave free breakfast, free drinks and almost a full meal if you wanted it in the top floor lounge (best views in the hotel) from 4 - 7pm. All for roughly the same price as breakfast on its own would be. My biggest beef was the "music" that was played everywhere - by the pool, in the reception area, and even in the lifts. I had to leave the pool one day because the pounding music gave me a pounding headache. Not (I imagine) what was intended. Staff were not allowed to turn it off, although they turned it down a bit when I complained. One other minor moan - my room (which was otherwise excellent - great view, fridge, kettle, spacious, lovely bed, shower, bath etc), had no drawers worth speaking of. And there was lots of room for them.
We were welcomed with all smiles once we enter the property. Check in was smooth. We booked 2 different rooms but sadly, both rooms had major problem. A call to the reception to ask for a room change & immediately they send a staff with a new set of key cards to our new room. Bravo! As for breakfast spread, it couldn't be any better. Good selections of both local & international food. And food is replenish quickly once the tray is empty or low on food. I guess they do take our past comments seriously. Job well done for the entire breakfast crew! I also went for a massage at the Solace Spa. This place is small & short handed if both treatment rooms are occupied. Expect to wait a little. Good news is Spg members are entitled to a 20% discounts. However, I would like to raise this small issue. I requested for an anti-slip mat to be placed in the shower. According to the housekeeping, there isn't any available. I feel this crucial for both kids & elderly as it's very slippery taking bath on both marble tile & bath tub.
We stayed in Le Meridien, KK for two nights with our two young children (4 and 2). The first thing to say is how welcoming the staff were of us as a family. They engaged with the kids from the get go and smiled and laughed at their antics. We stayed in a Vista Sea View room which had a super-king sized bed (seriously comfortable!) with loads of room for a fold up bed for my daughter. The views of the sea and night market immediately in front were gorgeous, I don't think anyone could ever tire of them. The room was. The bathroom was a good sized and well stocked with good quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Sadly the shower door didn’t shut properly which meant that the shower mat became saturated after a very short time. The breakfast was amazing with so much choice. I was particularly happy to see soya milk on the menu as my daughter can't tolerate cows milk. They couldn't make me a soya latte though - instead I got a black coffee with cold soya milk. The hotel comes with a beautiful pool and pool bar. My husband enjoyed an evening swim. I used the gym and was disappointed that several of the machines were not working - some were labelled and some were not. There were no mats available for floor work and no obvious person to ask. Perhaps I got it on a bad day but I found it below par for a 5 star hotel. On the whole, I'd go back to this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other families and other traveller types alike.
Spacious, modern rooms and bathrooms with a nice view on the sea and a nice pool area were the things we liked here. A big plus is also the friendliness of staff. Cleaning is not done very precisely. We found crumbs and even whole nuts in some corners on the floor. But I wouldnt go as far as calling the room dirty. At breakfast, there were large groups that literally attacked the buffet and battled for food. It was not really the slow, elegant start into the day we had hoped for.
Stayed for 6 nights end of May and had an amazing stay, check in was quick and room was clean, large and comfortable. Breakfast was included plenty of variety got extremely busy and was sometimes difficult to have coffee and tea refills. Central location walking distance to the shopping malls plenty of bars and nice places to eat, happy hour at the pool bar is ideal to watch the amazing sunset would definatley stay here again
Really solid hotel in a great location. The Meridien is not romantic or chic but it does what it needs to really well. Rooms are clean with everything you need and there is a large outdoor poor with comfy sun beds, good food and a cheerful welcome. It's a great location for exploring cosmopolitan KK and right opposite the amazing food and and close to Gaya street Sunday market. Interestingly we only ended up there because we checked out from an "exclusive" island resort as it was dirty and full of people not behaving very well and headed to The Meridien on the basis if things were going to be noisy they might as well be noisy in a fun 'city' sort of way.....but ironically the Meridien was way way more relaxing than the resort ever was. We had a great time flopping by the pool and pottering around the market. Recommended.
Super strategic location facing the riverfront restaurants and near the Philippine & wet market + night market location. Room is cosy, spacious...spick-&-span!! Breakfast buffet is out of this world with uncountable number of variety inclusive local delicacies coupled with continental breakfast option. My definite choice each time in KK.
