This holiday inn is on the back-end of recovering from Harvey. The restaurant is newly re-opened, and while some people might find a mostly empty restaurant to be disquieting, having a mostly empty restaurant that is quiet enough for me to enjoy a meal in peace without blaring music or 15 conversations trying to drown out a quiet conversation is something hard to find these days. The restaurant food is fairly typical hotel restaurant fare, but the chef is meticulously attentive to detail with preparation - vegetables can be oversteamed, understeamed, or inappropriately seasoned, and the steamed vegetables in this restaurant are worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. There are fresh cookies available each night for check in, and while the spa is still out of commission for repairs, the pool is heated, in magnificent shape and maintained very well - I've been swimming each day. My room needed a maintenance call when I checked in because a drawer wouldn't close and the office chair was on its last legs, but they were replaced promptly, and the hotel manager slipped a "free drink in the lounge on the house" under my door by way of apology. I took up the offer and the bartender/server Daniel made an exquisitely impressive Bloody Mary for me - bit of hot sauce, bit of pepper, his personal flair of A-1 and lime. Its conveniently located across the street from GE Houston HQ, so its a business hotel, and I'm grateful that there was a complete lack of screaming children and drunken college / young adults. I'm a rabidly loyal Hilton member, but this Holiday Inn is giving my Hilton membership a run for its money.
The hotel rooms were nice, and the staff lovely - but the hotel was still recovering from the hurricane, with the bar area closed. A conference room was being used as a temporary space for the bar and breakfast area - the staff did very well given the circumstances, but it was not the best environment, and the bar closed very early (10pm... a bit early for typical evening business discussions.) I’m sure once the repairs are finished it will be much improved!!
The outside of the hotel looks new and clean. However, inside of room 426 the furniture and carpet were very stained and dirty. I included a couple of example pictured below, but there were at least five bad stains throughout the room. The shower had mold in it. There was a white, waxy substance on the night stand. I noticed a manager in the hallway and pulled her in to show her all of this. She was very apologetic and offered to compensate me with some extra reward points. As of today, five days later, I have not received any points. I did not eat breakfast at the restaurant because it is a bit pricey at 12.99 per person. Also, the hot tub is closed. From signage it appears the first floor had damage from Hurricane Harvey. The price and check-in process were nice. The location was great for my needs, but I have cancelled my future stay here after not receiving the points promised and in light of the room issues.
This is my second stay in couple of months and I enjoyed their hospitality, keep it up.I did not inquire or use hot tub, guest laundry, shuttle service and banquet rooms as i do need these amenities during my stay.
This was by far the cleanest hotel i have ever stayed in! I was SUPER disapointed the pool/hot tub was out of order and they did not mention that on their site before hand, so when we got to the hotel i told them it was mine and my husbands first anniversary and was disapointed we would not be able to use the hot tub. So they upgraded us from a standard to a suite for the inconvienence!!! Their restaurant is extremely affordable and ps the nachos were amazing!! Cant wait to stay again.
The best hotel I have ever stayed! The service was excellent and the room was amazing!! I was able to use the indoor pool and eat in the very stylish restaurant! I can't wait to get back to Houston this summer!
Little disappointed in this holiday and things are OK but they're not great like I've come accustomed to. It's quiet off the beaten path. If I had a do over I think I probably would. It does have a in door pool. Staff was very nice though
The rooms were very nice spacious.restaurant good food especially the hamburgers delicious.the hotel staff nice and friendly.bar staff without a dought top! Notch i will definitely stay there next time I'm back in Houston oh and the pool was perfect after the exercise room
We were just in Houston for the Super Bowl - 60 of us all together. The hotel was perfect - rooms were clean and well equipped - staff was above and beyond nice. Mark at the desk was over the top helpful with local recommendations and seeing to everyone's needs. The night crew in the hotel bar - Sporting News Grill - were amazing! Oscar, Johnny and Daniel handled the large crowd like seasoned pros - never skipped a beat - and 60 football fans can be a pain when drinking! All 3 were extremely pleasant and helpful in not only serving food and drinks to all but taking the time to offer suggestions on local attractions asked by the various groups. Well - well done!! We will definitely stay here again when in the area!
This is a fairly new Holiday Inn. I stayed here about 3 years ago for 6 weeks and the rooms still look nice. I was upgraded to a king suite which was nice. It was a large room, separate sitting room and bedroom, mini fridge and microwave. My one complaint is the lighting in the bathroom, it's horrible for applying makeup. I would stay here again when I'm back in the area.
