The Upper House

We went for dinner at the panoramic restaurant of the Upperhouse. Staff was correct but not friendly. Food was good but not special. Overall we had expected it more nice and tastier. Prices were high.Sitting was not special.

Having stayed at the MO 87 times for business, I decided that a different scene would be better for a non-business related visit to HKG. The rooms were very BIG by HKG standards and, by virtue of the building's architecture, naturally segmented in a sawtooth pattern which provides an elongated sense of space (as opposed to being confined to a standard box). There are more windows to capture the view. Technology has made the hotel business more streamlined and its application at UH avoids much of the mundane administration, leaving the role of the staff to interact constructively with guests. It seems like there are fewer staff doing dumb jobs at the UH. The upshot is that the staff are more relaxed and engaged. I swanned around in shorts and a t-shirt and nobody seemed to care. The GenX/Millenial attitude to design and behaviour seems to be the rule here, which is a GOOD thing.

Rooms are stylish and well appointed. They make the most of Hong Kong's two most precious commodities: space and views. The food is wonderful at Cafe Grey and its easy, non-stuffy atmosphere and service are excellent. The bar is fantastic. The vibe is modern but warm, comfortable and easy. It's a great hotel and worth the price.

The Upper House delivers an exceptional experience. It is unsurprising that it is widely recognized as one of the top hotels in the world. And it’s readily apparent that The Upper House’s management runs a tight ship. From reception at the airport to check-in to check-out, the process was seamless. The staff was courteous, helpful, attentive, and professional. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was led directly to my room where my luggage had been placed. I immediately noticed the oversized tub overlooking the mountains. It isn’t hard to guess that I immediately opened a bottle of wine from the well-stocked, temperature-controlled wine fridge and slipped into heaven. It was the perfect cure to jet lag. I must admit, I indulged in the tub, wine, and view several times during my stay. The Upper House’s Café Gray Bar was also the perfect location for a few meetings and pre-dinner cocktails. With excellent bar tenders, an attractive staff, and a stellar view, it was a great location to experience some of the best Hong Kong has to offer. The Upper House is my new home away from home. I look forward to returning very soon. You should, too.

The place is extremely nice and the restaurant is expensively decorated. I ordered the seafood (oysters and lobsters). It looks like they directly bought them from the supermarket below. The food is expensive while the quality is of mediocrity, but it’s a nice place to go if your pocket is full, otherwise, you may need to visit a modest establishment nearby.

I was on the side of the hotel facing the mountain and greenbelt not the ocean. Very beautiful and serene. Staff was amazingly attentive. Food was excellent and had excellent amenities for meetings and quiet spots to sit and talk.

From the second we met our Upper House driver at the airport we felt like we were floating on clouds. Erica and Sabrina greeted us at the hotel with the warmest welcome and smiles. We were quickly escorted to our *upgraded* suite that was so beautifully designed; our jaws dropped and the view was everything. The level of design at the hotel is mind-blowing. Seriously takes your breath away. On the coffee table we found a picture frame where the hotel team had designed a wedding montage of pictures that must have been pulled offline, my wife cried. Additionally, they offered complimentary yoga class that was just what the doctor ordered post travel, not to mention the gym had fantastic amenities. From that point forward, we experienced the most highly personalized service-treats, activity suggestions and restaurant recommendations that made our stay seamless. Oh did we mention how amazing the food is at Grand Lux for breakfast, lunch and dinner? To call special people out by name: Erica you were amazing, Sabrina you were magnificent, Teriq you were dashing, Michelle you were a doll, and Marcel you were the golden prince of Hong Kong. We will be back many many many more times.

This hotel is simply superb! The room space is very generous. I stayed in the room with my wife and my daughter, and we still had plenty of room to move about without bumping into each other. The big and moderately tinted scenic windows in the bedroom and the bathroom let in plenty of sunshine which adds to the general feeling of well-being while inside the room. The bed is huge and quite firm -- just right for my aching back! I love that we could help ourselves to the snacks and drinks (except the wines) without additional charge and with daily replenishment! But even more than the fantastic amenities, it is the warm hospitality and the high quality of service of the hotel staff which clearly set this hotel apart from the rest. From the time we checked into our room, we were made to feel that the staff were genuinely willing and pleased to help. Special mention goes to Ms. Michelle who ushered us to our room to explain the various amenities and to Mr. Dani Zhu who embodied what personalized service was all about. I just came from a nearby bookstore and I bumped into Mr. Zhu in the hotel lobby. He asked me how I was and I showed him the books I purchased, one of which was a cook book by some famous chef which I got for my wife. Mr. Zhu recognized the book since the author had a book signing event for that title at the hotel several months ago. Without hesitation, he offered to give us two copies of the same book which I got from the bookstore. Even more surprising was that Mr. Zhu offered to return the book to the bookstore and get the refund on my behalf. I was truly impressed by Mr. Zhu. Truly amazing!!

I stayed at the Upper House with my husband in June and it was our first time visiting Hong Kong. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience staying here while visiting a new city. The hotel itself is modern and sleek without feeling stuffy or pretentious. Our suite was gorgeous with amazing views of the city and every amenity you could think of. What made our stay truly memorable though was the service we received from the wonderful staff. Tariq, Dani, and several other staff members went above and beyond in making sure we had dinner reservations and restaurant recommendations and helped us plan our days. The attention to detail made us feel special - we always had a car waiting for us and didn’t spend one minute waiting around. We really enjoyed chatting with the staff and were able to see so much in HK thanks to their detailed and personal recommendations. We have stayed in many high end hotels with great service and the Upper House definitely stood out for making us feel comfortable and taken care of. Can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

Amazing hotel to stay. What a joy to go back to a hotel where the experience begins from start to end. The personal welcome by Rie Yap, and each of my colleagues were shown their rooms by the staff was such a warm feeling. The hotel has got it spot on with the service . You feel at home and that’s so important which most five hotels have missed out. I appreciate the drivers who offer to send you when sometimes its difficult to get a cab. Little efforts go a long way. Jess Ma, when she notice that there were some discrepancy on the bill, she attended to it and that is greatly a virtue which should be noted. To all travelers, respect the staff, look after them and I promise you , they will give you equal respect and they look after you wholeheartedly. Then the whole experience will never be forgotten.
