Super 8 Hattiesburg North

Stayed just for a rest on a long haul. Busier than expected - accidentally booked a smoking room instead of non-smoking and when we arrived (very late) they didn't have anything else available. Room was modest, but clean other than faint smell of smoke - to be expected in a smoking room.

Traveling north due to interrupted Florida visit, we needed to find a motel along our route. This Super 8 was a very fortunate selection. A late night check in was handled very efficiently by night clerk Anna. The room assigned was 118, in the building further most from the roadway, This is a double queen room. Bed was very comfortable and shower was equally enjoyable, Following morning breakfast was adequate but less than average by current standards. This is second Super 8 we used this late winter season and we will continue to consider this franchise.

Everything was great, very clean and comfortable. WiFi didn’t stay connected or within range of the room we were in but it was no big deal bc we didn’t spend much time in the room.

After a very long drive, I was pleasantly met by a woman at the front desk who was friendly and helpful. I wasn't expecting much from the room, but I was surprised by its modern vibe. At checkout, there was a man who was also friendly and went out of his way to help me. Overall, I had a great visit.

Arrived in Hattiesburg late; since I belong to the Wyndham rewards decided to check out Super 8. The receptionist, an older woman, was very friendly, but also did a hard sell about the value and price of their hotel. "No, I wouldn't find anything cheaper, and if I did it would be a dive". There was a Budget Hotel down the road, and although I didn't actually check it out ( I was tired) it was half the price. The 'discounted' senior rate I was quote was 70.00, way too much in my opinion. With tax I paid over 75.00 for this budget, no frills, simple room. It was clean, but it was very very basic. Breakfast was cold breakfast of cereal, some old apples in the basket, toast, and there were a couple of sweet rolls. I felt really overcharged and would never stay here again, and I doubt I will stay in Super 8 again. Days Inn, part of the same chain, is cheaper, and ever so much better. I think the thing that bothered me so much was that the receptionist heaped flattery on me, how handsome, shocked someone hadn't taken me by now, etc. I would rather had the 49.99 rate it was worth, than the 69.99 which it was not worth by any stretch of the imagination.

Clerk was very accommodating and friendly. Listened to my needs add was able to accommodate a first floor room. Very helpful

My husband recently stayed here while on a business trip. He and his work partner stayed 3 nights and on the last night realized they would need one more night. He called and explained the situation and was told it would be fine and there would be no need to do anything further. When they returned to the room that night at 6pm they were told they needed to pay $50 for a late check in and that they owed $50 additional dollars for damage they had supposedly done to the room. They were told by Dot that they should pay cash and that they should not mention it to the manager. They were told they could not get their belongings out of the room until they paid the $100. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I am currently working to get in touch with Super 8 management to find out what can be done. Just felt I should share what a complete scam they received.

Everything about the accommodations was excellent except for the climate control. The temperature control on the heater did not regulate the temperature. I had to keep switching from heat to cool all night long.

At first glance, I thought the room looked pretty good. Then I saw the stained comforter with holes burnt into it. It was nice having a desk, except there weren't any available outlets on that side of the room. Every chair in the room wiggled and wobbled so much, I was afraid they would break, including the straight back desk chair. No soap or shampoo in the room. (I carry some in my shaving kit, so I didn't bother to ask at the desk.) Not sure if that's a repair stain or mold in the ceiling of the bathroom. Internet speeds were around 5 MB. Always nice to find a smoking room. Ironing board wouldn't close up because it was so rusted. Lots of room for this place to turn into a dive or become a hidden gem with a bit of work and attention to detail.

The only issue I had was the power going out but that was because of the winter storm. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the staff was friendly, the breakfast, meh. It could have had a better selection but overall, I loved my time there. I would definitely stay there again given the chance to.
